Before I get completely bashed for this post I would like to say I love Oblivion and cracked out to it all spring and into the summer in 06, creating several diverse and high lvl characters. That said my only complaint about Obliv is the lack of Uber-challenges in the game. I had the same complaint about Fable, you work through the game to gather items/lvls/skills to end up with very little combat challenge to test your uberskills out on. This of course was especially true of Fable, you get the last and best sword of the game only to go use it on bandits that you could kill 10 at a time with one swipe.
Am I way off?

The problem is that the game has to end somewhere. Also (to me at least) it's no fun leveling up if you don't even notice while fighting enemies. Sure, I'm a level 235262677 but i'm still having do all this shit just to win a fight? Why didn't I just stick to level 1?

Fully agree with Chris on that. The point of leveling up is that you can take on stronger enemies that kicked your ass before, not that the same enemies can scale up to the same level as you. Part of the fun of RPGs is that you get some ass-whooping at times, and then you go level up elsewhere to have another try when you're stronger or better equipped. The point of leveling in Oblivion is more or less restricted to having less problems with repairing stuff and picking locks.

Digging up an old thread but I have a question and I can't find the answer. With the Shivering Isles expansion disc does it download onto your hardrive and then just need to use the original Oblivion disc from then on?

as far as I can remember, that'll be fine.
In fact, if memory serves me correct, my roommate had bought the GOTY edition with all the extras on a separate disc. I d/l them to my HDD and could play using my Oblivion disc alone.
but its been a while (quite a while) so I may be wrong. Doubt it, but maybe....

That's cool. Just that both my step brother and myself want it but if it's a one off install to hardrive joby then we only need one disc. :)
