Hmm I was wondering about something. Is anyone of you using a HD-VGA cable over a component cable?
Since I'm picking up a Wii later this month and I only have 1 component slot. I really don't feel the need to change them all the time.
Anyway so how is the quality? The same or worse? My TV is a Samsung LE26R51B btw.

I have a 21" samsung 215tw widescreen lcd with component and vga inputs
only 1080i capable though
the dashboard and some of the games look better with the vga but not a big difference on games like gears or most of the arcade stuff. I got the vga for the same reason though man, getting a wii and needed the component spot
and the vga is only 40$ and has the optical audio out like the component one. good luck with your choice

Don't know if you guys want to go down the route of a splitter or switch, which means you can have both connected via component. I found a couple of things for you both:
Splitter: Ebay store: http://search.stores.ebay.co.uk/K1Connectivity-Store_splitter_W0QQfciZQ2d1QQfclZ4QQfsnZK1Connecti vityQ20StoreQQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQftsZ2QQsaselZ2691964 95QQsofpZ0
and the item I recommend: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-RCA-Component-Video-Splitter-Adapter-Cable-HDTV-HD-UK_W0QQitemZ320063017361QQihZ011QQcategoryZ32837QQ tcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
As for a switch, they are more expensive, but I found this one which is apparently quite good: http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?TabID=1&criteria=RCA%20COMPONENT%20Switch&ModuleNo=97952&doy=19m12
Hope this helps. I personally prefer Component over VGA on my TV, so I wouldn't want my 360 running via VGA, but it's always personal choice.

The 360 renders in 720p or 1080p (no games do that yet). If you output via VGA the 360 scales the image up to 1360x768. If you use component and output 720p (or 1080i/p) the TV will do the scaling to it's native resolution.
So basically it depends on how good your TV's internal scaler is compared to the 360's scaler. If your TV has a good scaler, use component, if you have a crap TV with crappy scaler then use VGA and let the xbox do the scaling. That, however, only makes sense if your TV doesn't scale 1360x768 to it's native resolution of 1366x768 (most lcd's these days).
