cod2 fix tuesday? [Archive]

i was in a game the other day with a guy who claimed to work for infinity ward (his tag was "IW **********", i'm not going to give it away) and he said that the multiplayer patch should be out tuesday march 14. i called up MS because i was still skeptical, and a very dumb sounding person confirmed after a few minutes on hold. i called again today and they just said "all we can do is refer you to activision." apparently MS has been holding on to this patch for a while, and the IW guy didn't know why. anyway, i'm pretty excited about this. let's hope its true. (i cant remember what the patch does besides fix lag, its out there somewhere though)

UPDATE: the guy said that MS is doing a final playtest today and it will be up tomorrow.
i hope i'm not getting jerked around here.

I'll give it a try when I hear an official announcement, but somehow I'm just sure it is going to be a disappointment anyway after 4 months of waiting :)

i really want to completely hate IW and activision for making everyone wait for a simple patch, but the game is so good imo i just can't.

I liked COD2 but, GWAR is WAY better.Plus my 360 ate my COD2 disks and I havent purchased another yet.

i wasnt very satisfied with gr2 on xbox, so if a demo ever comes out for graw and its good i might give it a try.

but it has to be good, i know the times with Tactical Ops when the lag fix diddn't work out, offcourse it's an PC and almost 4 years ago, but the same problem...

UPDATE: yet again, i'm hearing tuesday. my source says that MS finished their testing and sent it to activision for final dev approval, i guess to make sure it has everything in it they want. so, he says that puts the patch out on tuesday. but please, don't actually expect it tuesday.

omg i might just stop posting about this...supposedly IW has the completed patch in their hands and are using it as we speak. MS "should" release it by tuesday. 3/21 or 21/3 wherever you live.

Argh, stupid patch!
I Love CoD2 multiplayer if it works, but it never does!
I can't connect to ANY player game, only to RANKED games, and i havent had a lag free experience with the patch installed (all of my 15 games i played in yesterday had lag). The options are better but what can i do with that if the rest doesnt work...

Very Well,

No connection problems at all, not with PGR3, not with PD:0, not even with Halo 2 and not with GRAW... I use the wireless thingy and with other games it just works like it should... No others with this problem then?

*****UPDATE******
Ok, just had another talk with the guy. Here's what i got from it:
-IW is working on about 9 new maps
-they are attempting a 16 player patch, may or may not happen.

All of these things are being worked on, but some could get cancelled because not everyone has a hard drive to store it all.

Peace DI used to work at a supermarket long ago where we had one daily customer who always had something to moan, and always something different. Ofcourse we took complaints from customers very seriously and handled them as good as we could, but for her we just listened 5 minutes while doing something else and regularly saying 'uhuh' and 'oh is it really that bad'. Afterwards we had no idea what she'd complained about today because she'd lost her believability long ago. The fact that she complained about every frigging little thing made us ignore her as a whole, and potentially we may have missed valid complaints that way.

I personally think having another petition for CoD2 undermines the value and believability of petitions. Petitions, like formal complaints in the supermarket above, have a meaning if they are used as a last resort to get the point through that the public doesn't accept something, and for the original CoD2 MP the public had to make a statement. Complain about every little bug and developers and publishers will simply turn deaf to your complaints. Use your right to complain wisely, so they know you mean it when you use that right. Abuse it for every little typo and you'll get ignored.
