I think every time I have made the acquaintance of a female on xbox live they are verbally abused to a sickening level. It seems like somebody always has to chime in with some really graphic sexual smack talk. Granted there is typically a lot of smack but It seems like the girls get singled out. I'm not a big advocate of talking smack in the first place, so I really don't get it. I have become more familiar with the "mute" button of late when dealing with people like this.
Do you think the fairer sex gets the short end of the stick with abuse from guys that would probably run for the nearest bathroom if a girl gave them the time of day in real life?

You should make yourself familiar with the 'Report this user' button to deal with people like that :) Apart from nuking their reputation MS does monitor the report reasons if one user gets several similar write-ups.

That's more or less the problem yeah: in cyberspace, noone can you hear you scream or find your home. The quiet socially inept losers that you wouldn't notice on the streets do have guts when hidden behind the anonimity of a gamertag and a microphone, and it's not something anyone's ever going to eliminate, it's inherent to the medium. In my rulebook, kicking them from the game is fair first warning :+

It is pretty sickening to be honest. Ill be the first one to admit, ill bash on someone if i think its a kid talkin trash to me (cuz alot of the times, girls sound like kids on xbox live) until i can pick up the clues that its a girl. I am usually over polite to girls on xbox live cuz they are more fun to play with than alot of guys are. EVERY single one that iv ran into on xbox live hasnt screamed, hasnt been annoying, and thats something i look for i guess. Alot of the guys harassing them A. Don't and Won't ever have a girlfriend. B. Say things they wish they could say to a girl in real life but cant get close to a girl in fear of bustin one in their pants and having to get back in their mom's minivan and go home.
Explain about the 'kidnapper' please.

I have girls on my friends list and also met some and never was rude to them but also never heard anyone abusing them while playing online but I guess Im lucky to never have met anyone mean so far... :)
On the subject I think girl gamers are just as good as anyone else and the fact that they are interested adds more depth to online gaming because it adds more to conversation while playing online.

My friends list is permanently full and I think there's only one girl on there - and she works for Microsoft NL and is never online 8)7
To be honest I don't know half of the people on my friends list, so there might be 30 women on there ;)

I abuse everyone, regardless. But never maliciously, but so does everyone on my friends it's just the way we are, friendly abuse and banter for a laugh.
I have five girls (I think, there may be more, like Curry there are people on there that i don't know) and they enter into the banter as well.

Don't get me wrong a little shit talk between budies (female or otherwise) is great. I'm thinking more along the lines of people who don't know each other. I often seen the ladys getting a lot more negative attention the second the secrets out that they aren't young boys.

Wait... so you are trying to say that there are girls using the internet?
i demand proof.
Women.. the few i have encountered on live, seem to get singled out just like pre pubescent british kids except they dont deserve it.
anonymity will enable some really shyatty behavior from people.
