my friend bought an arcade game from xbox live marketplace....now, for some reason, he wants to format the hard drive..if he formats the hard drive and wants to download the same game again, would he have to pay again or it wud be free if he is under the same profile?

That information is stored with your Live account so he can safely remove all the shizzle from his hard drive and redownload it afterwards.

Since it was installed for free on the HD you didn't buy it technically. Thus it is not an exception to the rule :P

And it's sort of Darwinian that the idiots who manage to delete it lose it forever imho :z

I only heard rumors about this, but they should do this anyways. Microsoft has a very attractive pricing model for XBLA games. You can read about it here (http://www.xboxic.com/news/177).
