I know this is a tall order, but can I convert (what I assume is an analog output) the yellow RCA plug, through a cable or a box of some sort, to give an output the HDMI connector can cope with?
If not, I'll have to use a video modulator, which would let me use the RF input. Just then the picture quality would be rubbish.

if your cable box actually has a video in for additional devices then yes it would work...
what kind of tv are you using? how are you out of inputs? can't you get a switch box or something.

maybe you can find something like this, it changes everything into one hdmi cable:
Video upconversion (to HDMI) for single-cable output of high-quality video from any input terminal

Inputs 1 x (USB), 3 x (HDMI)
Outputs 8 x (speaker wire), 6 x (component), 3 x (HDMI), 2 x (S-Video)
No good, plus it's an american site, I don't doubt rs.co.uk or maplin or rapid electronics would have it, but unfortunatly it has no input on the box for RCA video.
The telly has a HDMI, 15 pin D-SUB and I suppose there's an RF connector on it somewhere, although I didn't see it. I'll have to read my friends manual to see what the connector does, but I hope it's an analog input for a graphics card output. Maybe it'd be easier for me to find a video>vga converter.
I'm not familiar with the xbox, but isint it just a propietary PC? Does it's graphics card have VGA output, or if I take it apart will I not see any place I could solder in a VGA output?

wow, you're hard core. solder!?
get a vga cable for the 360, they are out there.... OR, look harder at your tv... there has to be RCA inputs on it, or is it just a monitor?

Cool! I'll have a look for it.
Nahh, it's not got an RCA video input (lame eh?) just HDMI and RF in.
