I have a wii, thought it would be cool. It is one of the worst system's i have ever played, I have zelda, Warioware, and sports. The games are aweful and I wish i never had it, the best game i've played on it was the old school MArio. I would say save your money and just get a N64 its much better.

Although I'm not quite as outspoken as you, I do have to agree that the Wii may turn out a deception for a lot of gamers. Unless you're completely focused on party games with the family, I'd also definitely recommend spending the extra 50 bucks or euros on an Xbox 360, since it's not just a more versatile machine, it's also 3 generations ahead in graphics and 'experience'. On the other hand, when I have a few guys over with a beer Wii Tennis is incredibly cool.

wii60, is a concept not born out of hatred for sony, but out of the fact the games are of a radical design, all I can say is give it time.

I got my wii the weekend, knew exactly what I was doing, got cod3 and zelda. Sports is defo the party game and once you've got used to the control system on call of duty it was quite fun, had to avoid knocking people out with my elbows and very nearly broke a sweat trying to wrestle with that german solider that knocks you over when your trying to clear your first house.

my brother now wants a wii

I have a Wii too, its no way near as good as my 360 and I gave my wii away! I thought visually it was sick, basic and just a pile of shit in a white box. I have never played such a worst system - it tops the philips CDi and I thought that was bad !!

-edit-

If I could give my xbox360 children I would !!

The Wii will sell off the back of it's brand name, like the PS2 did. Lord knows if it can sustain another generation. I'm gonna go with my gut and say that the Wii will probably sink after 2 years and when the next gen comes for Nintendo, most will have grown tired of it and grown up to have hair around their testicles.

I still don't understand this and people who say this. You knew it had weaker hardware, you knew what it was all about, yet you buy it just to complain about how shitty it is?

That's like me buying the Xbox 360 and then complaining about how the case is white.

erm you're telling me I knew it had a weaker hardware, and that I knew what it was all about and that I bought it to complain about it? whilst you're at it - tell me what Im doing tomorrow...It is a pile of shit in a white box, if it was a black box, Id say it was a pile of shit in a black box - I couldn't care less what colour any console is, but the Wii is a let down of a console. I dont feel its any advance from the gamecube at all.

I bought it because the wiimote looked fun, the console seemed very different and original. I didn't realise the lack of multiplayer games, the wii code system is awful, the little mii miis with the big heads is just outright wrong! I guess all in all I was a little surprised about how the whole lot of it felt for the under 5's. - I wouldn't want anyone that knew me off of this to know I had bought one.

I think for people who own an xbox360 and to then get a Wii - you can only compare the two systems together and see what makes one better than the other. The wiimote is only fun for so long plus it has an absolutely incredibly slow update system. The wii is also proof of why no console should have a web browser. I could not and would not encourage someone older than 10 to buy this system - its outright boring. Ive owned Gameboy's, the DS, N64's and all in all my own opinion of the wii is that its great for little kids, but you must be an adult of a certain mentality to enjoy it. Like people that piss themselves over crap text messages for instance.

The thing is that is lacks killer games, fun its nothing but ports and pathetic gimmick games with n-64 graphics, its horrible no online either it sucks.

it got plenny of hype but the thing isnt fun at all,its not even a real gaming console in my book.

i suggest to everybody out there ''real-gamers''

Well said... you're right! Basically it is a re-invented N64. I had a choice to buy Call of Duty 3 on the Xbox360 or for the Wii - I bought the one with clean crisp graphics, online multiplayer, HD support, rather than the one on the wii where all the soldiers look like lego men.

Sir SpankalotUK
February 13th, 2007, 13:43
i think zelda could be considered wii's killer game for the moment, then theres metroid which will be out sooner or later.

Call of duty on the wii, while the graphics are less impressive than the 360's I was quite surprised with them, and the magic of playing cod3 on the wii is the control system, pointing the controller much like a gun and having to steady you hand to make the kill shots. While I know the wii is missing online multiplayer, the experience the games offer are totally different to those that are available on the 360. The soldiers certainly dont look like lego men.

guess its a case of marmite.

Yeah good write up. I had mine on pre-order since 19th September and got it just after christmas. What I've found with people I know is that the ones without an xbox360 love it, and the ones with an xbox360 think it lacks a lot of features.

Im not overly fussed with graphics and visuals, but what it lacks in one area it should make up for in another - but its a poor console where the selling point is basically a pointing device.

The wii aint awful its just .....different in my opinion the wii is all about fun and trying something different you don't need 1080p HD games to have fun!! i own 360 and wii and always find myself on my wii playing zelda the gameplay and how you play is GREAT! and the game is huge.... I got GOW a couple of days before launch completed it on the easy mode in one sitting about 4 hrs to complete ..Zelda i have being playing for about 10 hrs and i will say im about half way through......Xbox 360 games to me seem to take the shiny graphics route and forget gameplay and the most important Hrs of gameplay some 360 games are far to short.....Not knocking 360 at all love the console im a big fan of R6 Vegas which has been the hardest single player game to date...I have my friends round on a Fri/Sat night we always play wii yeah its got a load of party games give it time there will be a few non party games the 360 launch titles wasn't great half where tarted up xbox 1 games give it time before saying its awful_o_

I'm pretty happy with my Wii. I don't play it as much as my 360 but it still has some good stuff. I mainly bought it for the virtual console and for the fun multiplayer games like Wii Sports, Wario Ware, and many more to come.

My step son loves playing Wii Sports with his friends. It gets more attention from him right now but when more games come out I'll be playing it more.

I play my Wii most afternoons now I got Sonic but that is the game that I really got it for anyway. This is one mystery to find out why there is not a steady flow of games coming out after some of us had our wiis for 4 months and more.

It is clear that voting channel should have a question that asks people if they find enough new games come out every month. But bless nintendo they are really trying as well as the developing companies , seems some cool games are on the way. :)

For a few years now, I have been hearing how the Revolution will change gaming forever. Then slowly as time passed, I learned that the Revolution will not support HD gaming, will not support 5.1 surround sound, will not even support the cool name of Revolution, but it will deliver a new gaming experience as the Wii.....that shoud have the been the first sign.

I followed with great interest all the launch material of the Nintendo Wii, reading each article, watching all commercials and news reports. I noticed that everything appeared to center around the Wiimote and gamers interaction with the Wiimote, and not much about the games themselves.....that should have been the second sign.

As the Wii sold like hotcakes, I read review after review about how the Wii was amazingly fun, how it was refreshing, how it was revolutionnary. I read how the Wii managed to reach out to non-gamers, and draw them in.....that should have been the third sign.

Then came the day I picked up my Wii. I rushed home, hooked up the Wii and played my first game of Wii Sports. It was fun. But it was fun in the same way that web based flash games are fun...for a short while. After a short gaming session of Wii Sports, I returned to Lost Planet. I told myself that the Wii Sports was only a demo of what the Wii could do, but what I really needed to do was rent a few "real" games. I went to my local game rental shop and picked up Zelda, the only "real" game available for the Wii at the time. Now I will find out what the Wii is capable of. After playing it for less than 2 hours, and shut down the Wii and turned on my Xbox 360 and returned to Oblivion to remind myself what a real RPG is all about.

Over the next few weeks, I rented several other Wii titles, including Wario Smooth Moves. That game made me wonder if those Wii strap accidents where really "accidents" after all, or gamers tossing the Wiimote at the TV in a desperate attempt to end the pain of playing this game. Again the Wii sat as I played Ghost Recon.

Finally came the day I purchased Wii Play.....that is the same day I decided to my relationship with the Wii was not going to work out.

It is important to note that it was not the Wii's fault, but for a console that is supposed to focus on fun, so much so that it comes at the cost of HD graphics and surround sound, the console could not even deliver on this. Nintendo is so focused on the non-gamer, they forgot about us, the real hardcore gamer.

Today, I packed up my Wii, and brought it to a new home. I hope in this new home, it will find happiness.

Sorry if the post dragged on, but I felt I needed to post this for closure....now back to Crackdown.

I own a 360, have since launch. What I love the most about my 360 is all the multiplayer, voice chat, being in clans, and the nice selection of games that it has.
I also own a Wii. Bought it for one reason and one reason only. My wife.
My wife can't play a game on the 360 because she isn't coordinated like that.
So before I got the Wii I was hearing crap like... How much longer are you going to play on your xbox thing. Hell I even had to move my xbox from the 52" dlp in the living room to a 21" lcd in my office just to get some decent playing time. But along comes the Wii and my wife couldn't be happier. And yes in a lot of ways the Wii doesn't hold a candle to the 360 and probably never will, but man I'll tell ya, the Wii has been great for my marriage(not having problems, just marriage was creeping in on my video game time)
So thank you Nintendo for making a system that my wife can play. Now if only Mario Party 8 will hurry the hell up.

I post on a non-gaming site. They have on going threads for the 3 major consoles. It is completely different people between the Wii and 360 threads. The Wii thread is half women or people that rarely game. Granted a sale is a sale, but I think Nintendo may lose their hardcore gamers. The ones who buy like 20+ games for a console. The most talked about games on this forum are Raving Rabbids, Mario Party, Wii Sports and Play. All games I have zero interest in.

I have both consoles and would never say I hate the Wii. I love Nintendo games and that's what I'll be playing. Mario, Metroid, Zelda, etc...

Oh my ... so I have his extra 360 in my family room and my son does sometimes play it but he would rather play arcade games with me on the 360 in my office. It is good for what it is ... but it is not a kids console.

Tonight I played the Wii Sports at GameStop for an hour. I had a blast and the entire time kept thinking how much fun my kids will have playing this and how much I can do on it.

I think that it may be the mindset of the older gamer, I want to play the 360, Rainbow Six Vegas is my friend, and I will return to my 360 every time, but as of tomorrow I am on the hunt for a Wii for my family... that and I want to play excite bike again :-) Golf, bowling ... tennis! Sheesh all I need is a fishing game and I am in ... wait there is one!

Soon to be a proud Wii60 owner!

I've had a wii since february, when I was lucky enough to get one ordered online at woolworths. I must admit, i'm a little bit worried about game support as their seems to be very few 9/10 titles lined up for it this year. However when my mates are round its always turned on for a game of bowling or tennis and thats where the machine really comes to life. For top quality games while sitting on your own i'll stick to my x360 and live, but when you've got ur mates round the wii pays for its self in 'fun' factor many times over. its like the ultimate beer drinking game, which can't be bad. If nintendo weren't so kiddie tastic then they could advertise it as this.

Even when I had people over for gaming and BBQ parties, the Wii was used by the girlfriends/wives. When the guys took over, the Wii would get tossed it aside for some real gaming (hockey and Call of Duty).

The girls would love bowling only, and that because they could not screw-up. Even an uncoordinated monkey can roll 175-200.

Since I have sold my Wii, we have not missed it one bit. TO be honest, no one even noticed it missing at the last party. The new official party game is now Guitar Hero II (that and hockey of course)......ROCK ON!!! 8)

That's the problem that KEEPS killing Nintendo home systems - they NEVER get the 3rd party support they really need, and so tend to just sink and die.

I really hoped the Wii's insane popularity (it's still nigh-on impossible to get one here in the UK unless you use eBay!) would at least tempt more publishers on board and making games for it...

Anything that has had:

-2 iterations on the PS2 (third on its way (80s version))

-2 iterations on the Xbox 360 ( GH3 on the way)

-1 version on the Wii

..is probably the farthest thing from being a gimmick. Have you even played GH?

No, I have not played it and I'm not planning on it. I hate just looking at it. The only reason that the GH games are doing well is because the company that makes it is milking it as long as they can. Just like Midway with MK and for some reason people like playing with a toy guitar and have no clue on how to play a real guitar.

The thing I'm saying is that people talk bad about the Wii and the wiimote, but they go out and get GH and the guitar to play it. The guitar is used for one game and one game only and that's GH. The Wiimote is used for more then one game. The thing that people need to remember is that the Wii is in it's 1st year and as with the 360 the games are not the best.

I was reading about the Wii 2 today (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/a61675/wii-2-in-a-couple-of-years-says-analyst.html)

It's awful for Wii that Manhunt 2 is banned in the UK!

OK..I've not been following this game, but is it banned in any other EU country. When will it be released, and couldn't we just import it over from any other PAL territory?

HylianHitman
June 20th, 2007, 14:51
Well, the first game was banned in Australia and Canada, and following the media frenzy and it's unfairly placed link to a murder, I'm expecting it to get banned in other places as well. We can import the game of course, but it just won't be legally sold here meaning buyers will have to go down avenues to get their hands on it.

Release date I'm not too sure.

Yeah it's awful, as everyone I know who owns a Wii agrees.

I did invest in a DS Lite the other day though, a workmate was selling a brand new one for £60, bargain 8) Haven't found many killer DS apps yet either. Mario Kart is obviously great, Brain Training is addictive, and Phoenix Wright is excellent. I'm saving most of my other in-depth games (e.g. Final Fantasy 3) for when I go on holiday in a fortnight... sitting on a beach playing DS, does it get much better??

okay, I know wii isnt much fun now. Why? Simple -> stupid ports that are fuckin ugly, stupid games like Zelda in which the wii-controls are not utilised to their full potential, no serious game besides party games. BUT, I think if you wait 2 more months you will enjoy it alot more because of games coming. If you like Metroid thats gonna be great, we will have Zack&Wikis: Quest for barbaros treasure soon, which looks great (check IGN!) Supersmashbrosbrawl is coming soon (TM) (check their website, its great! http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/index.html check it out!)
I hope Manhunt 2 is gonna be released soon, i'll let my dad pick it up or ill order it through internet if it is released. (read my other thread)

So,,if all the previous does not appeal to you, don't be buying a wii. If you do, go get it its all coming soon. So far, wario - ware is great, wii sports is fun (not for long though) and the virtual console already has some fun titles on it!

I've yet to play it, I'm waiting until I move to buy it, but I heard Paper Mario uses a 'standard' ish controller. You turn the wiimote sideways and just use it like an oldskool nintendo controller. i heard the game is great.

I agree I would like a standard controller to use with certain games (mainly: single player games), but does the wii offer ANY processing power greater than the Gamecube did? I'm not sure. Heck, even just using the gamecube controller would be cool. Make a few RPGs or whatnot that allow you to use a gamecube or the wii-arcade controllers.

It's got an AO rating in america, which is a rating both sony and nintendo won't sell apparently. I doubt anywhere will ship the game after that bomb hits properly, at least not in an un-neutered form. Everybody says this game will warp kids minds well WHY DONT WE BAN KIDS FROM BUYING IT AND ARREST ANY STUPID PARENTS WHO LET THEIR KIDS PLAY GAMES WITH 'MANHUNT' AND OTHER VIOLENT NAMES ON THE COVER????????

Sorry about the caps, this whole political tool thing is getting old. It's about time old people died and let those who know a thing or two about reality into power. Same goes for those who invented DRM. grrrr.

Nothing wearing off here ... Wii Big Brain Academy is playing in my house. My 8 year old is only 2 grams behind me and has logged a bunch of hours of game play. This is a blast, as soon as some more shooters come out I will buy some more for me.

Im not sure if the american elite's have the 3 years guarantee? If so just as well get one now.

But how long would you have to with for the 65 nm chip - until they stores have sold all the other elites? Because over here we're only getting the 65 nm elite and Im not even sure if it would be on the box for you to notice a difference between the two for when it's released over where you are?

If you already have a 360 I'd wait - even if you got a current elite, if it broke you'd most likely get a refurbished one back... I'd rather start with one that will more than likely not break during it's lifespan. This far into the game how long does it really need to last you? 4 years?

Of our population, the hardcore gaming market is at most 15% of that.

The other 85% is what Nintendo is breaking into. That's how they're selling assloads. All the Alpha Moms are reading about the Wii in their magazines, and watching morning tv shows about how great it is to get your kids exercising and all of this other crap. They're breaking into the Bejewled, Slingo, Zuma, Bookworm, Popcap Games middle aged woman market. You can tell who Nintendo really cares about now by looking at their 'big' E3 surprise game this year; Wii Fit.

Really Nintendo? You're serious? All the Mario/Zelda fans are supposed to be excited about shifting your weight on a piece of plastic? I don't know about you guys, but I'm glad I sold my Wii when I did. At least we know where their priorities are.

I don't think the Wii is horrible... maybe I would if I bought it. But I've played it at friends' houses. I mean, it's a nice concept and they're brave to do it, but the thing is that we were in a slightly small living room - not any smaller than most living rooms however. And we had no space to play! It kept going off screen, I guess because of the censor bar. Plus, those party games/classic games aren't my type, unfortunately. I don't like the cartoony graphics and such.

In reply to what xYouGotOwnedx said. Yes, Madden Sucks! but that's on any system. I hate that game, ever year it's the samething and EA is slow to fix the big bugs in the game.

But as for Zelda. It's a great game. It's not a game that you can be done with in a day or so like Gears of War.

HylianHitman
August 28th, 2007, 20:21
Sorry for questioning your logic, but how can you be done with Gears of War in a day?

Even if you're Silver like I currently am, Gears has a great single-player campaign. It may be short but it's fucking sweet.

As for Zelda, it became increasingly apparent they were trying to emulate Ocarina of Time. It failed.

Raziel79
September 3rd, 2007, 07:18
It can be done if you have a lot of time on your hands, but I not saying it was not a great game, because it is. However it could have been longer. Hell, the old school Dooms are a little longer then Gears. I'm not putting Gears down at all. I'm just saying what I think.

For Zelda, It is a longer game and thats what I like. I have the cube ver of Zelda: TLP. I played it for weeks. Even if they were trying to emulate Ocarina of time. It didn't fail in my book. Many games emulate games that have been done before. Look at games like Tetris, Mario and even games like Wolf 3D and Doom. If it was not for Wolf 3D thier wouldn't be a Gears of War.

I really liked Zelda Twilight Princess and it was my first zelda games I fully played ever! But then again most of you are into shooting games which Zelda games clearly are not.

I prefer adventure games and with Zelda it made me think a lot to figure puzzles out which I quite enjoyed to challenge my capabilities. Also the story really moved me because of the twists and the Wii controlls were just amazing.

I bought a Wii because of Sonic which is my favorite game on it so far but looking forward to Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Paper Mario, Sonic and Mario at Olympics, Endless Ocean but the ones I want the most are Sonic Riders 2 and Nights journey of Dreams. :D

LMAO! Of course it is outselling the 360 3 to 1. Why? It appeals to non gamers, which is the majority. From a hard core gamer standpoint the Wii is nothing but a cheap gimmick. Grandma and your 6 year old niece might get a kick out of it. Every once in a while you might find a game you like. But for the most part it is not geared towards the hardcore gamer, which is pretty muchly everybody here. Also why would anyone be jealous that it is outselling the 360? Do you honestly think anyone except the retarded fanboy cheerleaders care? All I care about is what I buy and the games I can buy for it. What everyone else is doing matters none to me. You wanna buy a Wii? Great go for it. Whatever floats your boat. Doesn't really effect me. Competition is a good thing anyway.

ya, if they're jealous of anything it's the PS3 and its awesomeness :).

That'd be true if the PS3 had any decent games out at the moment that I hadn't already played on my 360.

The PS3 won't be as awesome as you make out for at least another year. Even then, I still think the 360 will be better.

Sorry, but that PS3 controller will never feel natural playing FPS games for me. I can't stand how they put the joysticks side by side.

I almost feel like replying, but your poor English skills and your poor knowledge of the gaming industry would make my reply worthless.

So I won't bother, other than to say you couldn't be more wrong.

I Love this comment, as in \o/ LOVE this comment \o/.

It's funny, nothing felt better than a (rumbling) PS2 pad for FPS'. I then got a 360, and realised just how much better it was than the PS2 pad.

It also annoys me that developers don't use the triggers for shooting in almost all PS3 games. It's like playing CoD 2 on the 360 with the bumper buttons instead of LT/RT.

Is there no option of mapping the controls differently (I dont have a PS3 and have never like the PS controller), i have to say im still not totally used 2 the Wii-mote/Nunchuck deal was a bit weird for me controling jumps with my left hand when i normally use my right thumb to press the a button

Well if they work as the controlls in the Metroir Prime gamecube games but with added Wiimote precision, then it is set to become one of the Wii's best titles for years. Not that I can say I tried it since us Europeans have to wait another two months for Samus action. :P

Also come on dudes lay off the boy because we are all entitled to our own opinions and his is that the Wii is his favorite console right now.

Under normal circumstances I'd agree with you but..

who ever says wii is awful go shoot ur self jeolous ppl cuz its out selling 360 3 to 1 imo i think 360 is the worst console this gen :p i mean wii has the best FPS ever created.

No...I can't stand zelda.
I had high hopes, and they killed it.
I've put in about 6 hours, and I don't see a reason to play it again.
It infuriated me once, so it's going to do it again.

when i first got zelda, i played for about 8 hours, then went back to the World of warcraft and quit zelda.
6 months later i picked up zelda again, played from where i left off (which was basically 6 hours of tutorial / learning to use the dog), and the game is awesome.

there's a reason it got a 9.5 on IGN...
(that reason: because it's great.)

Nintendo's games of today just don't compare to what they were back in the day. Wind Waker and Metroid Prime were awesome, but I still get more of a kick out of playing Super Metroid again. I'm actually pretty glad my brother got a Wii so I could get at the Virtual Console.

Should start out "Do you like Video games and have $2000 to spare?".

Don't give me this bullshit about searching around the internet and building my own shit because you know what? I never had to build ONE of my consoles.

I'd rather buy 15 years worth of consoles for cheaper than one PC that'll be okay to use for a year and a half (Then have to upgrade.)

I built my PC. It's cool because you get to pick everything you put in and you know everything that's in it and you learn alot doing it as well. But yes it's rediculous to keep upgrading... it's not cheap!

Heh...yeah. I used to build my own pc too, but then I got married and had a kid. ahaha. No more money to keep up with the expensive upgrades :D I did enjoy doing it though. I enjoyed knowing exactly what was in it and what I had done to it. Now though, I just don't have much time for a ton of PC gaming when there are so many good things to play on console. So a moderate Dell that can surf the web, check my email and watch some videos and stuff does me well.

lol.... At todays rate thats only £1,021.12!! For a Diabloe Extreme which is currently one of the better off the shelf gaming PC's (lets face it if it's gaming you're after you would buy a PC built specificly for gaming and not some hunk of Dell or Hewlett Packard bollocks) you are looking at somewhere in the region £1604.00 which would work out about $3,141.82... The term "Video game console" was actually introduced to distinguish a machine used for solely playing "Video Games" (The Magnavox Odyssey was the first such machine)from a Personal Computer and an Arcade Machine... However a "Video Game" is a game that involves some form of interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback on a video device. So be it a PC, console, hand held or arcade machine they all can by definition play "video games"

Now that we have cleared up the definition of a video game does anyone remember the Neo Geo.... It was and the first machine to truly bring arcade games into our living rooms as it was basically the motherboard from an arcade cabinet (the home system was an AES the arcade machine was MVS) which is why it was so expensive with so few games.
One of my mates had one when I was in High School, Splatterhouse was awesom!!

Yeah I remember the Neo Geo, we all wanted one but no one ever got one, weren't the games about £100.00 each?

Anyway back to the Wii, I think that it is far from awful, it is just different, some people are a little reluctant to change. As with all Nintendo consoles you just have to be careful what games you get for it. It tends to be that the best games come from Nintendo themselves with only a few third party developers games being worthwhile playing. In comparison to my 360 games collection I have very few Wii games as was the case with the last gen with the Gamecube and PS2. But there are games that you can only get from Nintendo that you just have to own, such as Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc.

Mario Galaxy got great reviews, Zelda was rated well also and Res 4 Wii edition is in some peoples view the best incarnation of the game so I would say that Nintendo are still giving us a reason to own their hardware?

The only Wii game I enjoyed playing (that is to say, not having immediately regretted playing afterwards) was Metroid Prime 3.

Which got a worse review than all 3 I mentioned???

Obviously you are entitled to your own opinion but when a game gets a review score of 100 from 23 different reviews (Mario Galaxy) it surely can't be all that bad??

Also Res 4 Wii edition has a completely different controll system which has worked toward giving it such good reviews....

HylianHitman
January 14th, 2008, 16:21

Oscar
January 14th, 2008, 16:40
I'm not saying every review is right but when people are being paid to play a game and say if they think it is good, not so good or utter crap they generally do so from more of an objective point of veiw than most gamers.....
When considering reviewers have said Bioshock, GOW and CoD4 are better than Halo and I for one would agree...
They have also said that Pimp my Ride and Golden Compass are utter crap and once again I find my self in agreement...
So when they write up a review giving good reason for Mario Galaxy and Zelda to be hailed as the best 2 titles for Wii I have to find myself siding with their opinoin over that of someone who has simply said one is boring and the other sucked?

Law
January 14th, 2008, 16:41
I usually don't put much faith in game reviews/reviewers either. We all have different tastes and enjoy different things. But when a game gets reviews...100% type reviews...A+ type reviews...from not just 5 or 6 different places...but from virtually ALL of them, then you are probably on to something here. Something good is happening in this game. Is it going to please and impress everyone? No. Will it please and impress most people? Damn good chance of it.

But I'm like you though...everyone RAVED about how good Halo and all it's incarnations and just how good it is and everything. But to me...it was pure "meh". I've played far better FPS's...Halo just happened to catch the market at the right time when they were looking for a good console FPS. That's my opinion and I'm sure many many will disagree with me.

My point is...I don't care much about what reviewers think either, but when all the reviewers are saying pretty much the same thing about a game, then the game certainly did something right and you can't deny that. You don't have to like it either, but you can't denounce all the critics and the majority of people that agree just because you don't ;)

Oscar
January 14th, 2008, 17:08

It was after you saying you don't put faith in game reviewers and then as I had quoted in my post you having a similar opinion to said game reviewers that Halo is indeed not the best FPS..... A rather needless post all in all... :P

I have to agree that not all reviews are good which is why I use http://www.metacritic.com/games/ which gives you a percentage of a shitload of reviews and also gives user review scores.... I find it's fairly accurate to be honest?!

Law
January 14th, 2008, 17:33
lol. I was confused :D That's all...still tired from the weekend. But I'm the same way. I don't put much faith in to any one reviewer or review site, but I look at metacritic and the averages to see what games are getting good reviews and are not if I am curious about something. Metacritic is a good site for this and I hope they continue doing it for many more years.

I rented the game aftert a freind told me I should buy it... He was raving about how much fun it was, however I didn't find I could agree too much on his view of it being "fun"..... I found it quite hard to get to grips with and when the action really started I found myself helplessly floundering in a confused panic? Having said that my mate did tell me that he had a similar experience the first few times he played it but with a bit experience it got much better.... It may be a grower but I didn't give it enough time to grow on me I guess??

I can't wait to try Mario Galaxy because MOST friends and reviews say it's great. Zelda is an awesome game which I have not finished yet. Metriod is awesome. I had never played Resident Evil 4 before I played it on the Wii so I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I go through phased with the Wii. Sometimes all I want to do is play Xbox 360... then for 2 months I go on a Wii kick or something and I love it! I love having the Xbox and the Wii in my house!!!! Both are great for different reasons.
