Don't you all agree? Before i got live i was hardly ever in my house...out with people every day...now i just cant be bothered nowhere near as much as before, i just seem to want to pop some heads on Gears or blow things up on Crackdown and so on, seriously your social life really takes a blow...Just thought i'd start this so anyone who agrees can...moan about it i suppose:P

yes it does ruin your life - because all I want to do in my spare time is go on my xbox360. I've never had a games console addiction ever like this one. I am having a big problem trying not to play Call of Duty 3 ranked matches, it'll end up in a minute being sold on ebay (the game not console) I have other games, newer but I dont play them because I can't stop CoD3...
I need a Call of Duty rehab

I have 2 excellent jobs...1 is accountancy, the other is part time tv show, BUT I am single, so yeah if I wasn't single I'd probably not use it as much: Unless I find a girlfriend who has an xbox too, thats the better option.

I had the addiction for a couple first few months but then I kicked it. Then Crackdown came out, and every chance I had, I played it, then I beat it, now I'm just stuck at home because my car needs to be repaired. Otherwise, me and friends still go out movie hopping, bowling, and the occasional billiards.

Well I do play it sometimes when I come from college but I didnt go out often these last months mainly because its too damn cold out there. Wait for Spring and Summer and I shall be jumping all over places. :P
My only addiction is sonic games , I swear when I get a new one I even dream about playing it!

Xbox 360 gaming hasn't affected my social life either. Before I got myself a 360, I watched loads of movies in my freetime and went on GS forums to inform noobs that Halo won't ever come out on the PS3 lol. I still go out with my friends every friday so nothing has got toned down in that area :P. All that's changed is that instead of watching movies and spending a couple of hours on the PC, I spend that time gaming :)

March 3rd, 2007, 17:23
Well I sell jewelry through ebay and go to uni, so I make quite a bit of money for very little work so I have loads of time to play games :D
Yeah I qualified in accountancy. I was quite fortunate to be able to pay off my study fees whilst I was still learning so I don't have students debts hanging over me - its just credit cards now...lol

I didn't have that many friends in high school, so Live never made much difference.
I am starting to turn a corner though, I'm doing motorcycle training stuff now, and I should be entering an IT academy thing September, hopefully.

My social life destroyes my Xbox live time!
I agree. I hate having friends that do not have Live...kills my gaming time 8)7
To be serious, most my good friends left town, to move to larger cities such as Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto. Live allows us to remain connected without incurring huge phone bills. Live is great.

Well right now I'm waiting for CoD4...and I guess since I posted that above, im no where near on my console like I was back then, but my busiest periods are March - November...so November to March I can be online 24/7 if I so wish...

Right, I think I am going to win the competition with this one.
My social life ain't faltered at all, still playing in a Rock band ( http://www.myspace.com/rocksmiler ), still going out at the weekend, bought my own house, still writing dance tunes in my spare time, still getting the odd game off golf.
And the winning bit, I travel to Chicago to meet a girl I have been chatting with for the last 3 months solid about 9 hours at a time in 9 weeks and 1 day.
OOOOOoooo could it be the first Xbox Live induced marriage?

Well I would have been if I hadn't seen her on the Cam, have pictures and have talked quite a bit.
But luckly it turned out she is gorgeous. So all good for me.
And besides, you should know being a fellow Scot, I can't be arsed with the tracksuit wearing big gold earing hanging orange faced make-up on with a trowel fighting drinking puking hard arse scots lassies we have to deal with on a night out here anymore, so nice to have a change.

LOL!!!! why you getting all angry about it? the fact that an actual american admits for once the girls over here are nicer when every other american is like "eugh bad teeth drink tea ugly girls blahh" he pulls statistics out his ass, LOL! we were talking about women and drugs at work and he simply stated since being in the UK hes seen better women and smoked better cannabis. Fact of the matter is, hes had both and prefers ours, not many americans that i've met can say they have tried UK girls and US girls, UK skunk and US "weed". its nothing about statistics, its about his opinion, hes a stoner so his opinions on cannabis are perfectly valid, and, funnily ennough, hes not a virgin, so his opinions on women also count, now stop bitchin man, thas ALL you ever seem to do lately.
And from what i've heard from SHITLOADS of americans, the "weed" in Florida is supposed to be "some really fucking good shit" apparently. Well apparently not...

I've also heard that a lot of other countries are getting shit from us now rather that us getting it all imported, UK homegrown is really coming up in the world, UK green is some of the best you can get, obviously theres better, but we're doing fucking good for ourselves considering we were thought to be the ones who had to get it all imported.
The_Glovner
January 16th, 2008, 15:38
Can't really think of anything thats a patch on the Dam.
As for the females, well I would disagree with the nicer ones over here, or maybe I have just been speaking to a particularly nice American.
Being honest though, she is the most unamerican american I know.

any of you guys had problems with 'sand' or 'grit' weed- sandy, salty or sugary buddha that gets imported in by dodgy vietnamese gangstas? its pretty much gone now but it was everywhere a bit back.. UK has good bud but its crap compared to dam, the homeygrown here is mostly taken from amsterdam seeds or clones- we dont get the good hash cause noone wants to buy it.
english birds are terrible on the whole- even if theyre fit theyre either thick as pigshit or up their own arses. probably same with americans- get a nice french or jamaican bird- or better yet, get a east bloc girlfriend. theyre generally smart and good looking, and they dont think the sun shines outta their butt.

Fair point sir, I am also 28 and have been with a few of our fellow country women myself, the last one for 7 years to be exact. Which was ended two weeks ago.
Now whereas my American girl wasn't the reason, she was certainly a catalyst.
And we have been talking for sometimes 12 hours at a time, something which I have never been able to find with any Scottish women.
So I am just at a point here where we both get on so well (and the bizzare thing being, that i think most people on here will know my wider general views on Americans, don't get me wrong they ain't all bad. But I really wasn't looking for an American girl and I certainly wasn't looking for one online, whole thing is a bit mad to me still) But this is something I would rather regret for doing and it not working out, than not doing it and just wondering "what if" for the rest of my life.
So fuck it, I'm going to Chicago, then on to Rockford and spending 2 weeks with her, it works out and she it coming back over here to live with me and I couldn't be happier about it all.
9 weeks exactly today, in fact I should touch down in Chicago at exactly this time.

Good work Glovmeister..... I think because you have done a lot of talking that it probably puts you in a better position than most, I generally find that I end up screwing girls before I ever get to know them properly which doesn't really make for great relationships.... I didn't do that with my current ladyfreind and for the first time I am truly happy in my relationship so go for it (I'm sure theres some kind of Dr Phil virus floating around this thread?!).... It will be good to get away from the rain, midgies and buckfast swilling neds for a bit too!! :P

lol, this thread has turned into some kind of feel good, hippy love fest or something? Lets all hug.
I think I'm going offtopic by going back ontopic :P, but this past Christmas, a buddy of mine bought himself a gift. A 50" Samsung Plasma, a new xbox 360, with a few games, and a Gold membership. Dude works hard, and he deserves to treat himself once a year, no? anyways.......
He's hooked. lol.
Since the guy is a landscaper, if it doesn't snow, he doesn't work. This leaves a lot of time for things like video games, and the guy has gotten REALLY good at a few games, faily quick considering he never really played anything since his Sega Genesis (awesome system btw). He hasn't been out with us on a weekend or anything since he got it all setup!
Priceless.

I have a freind that has become addicted to GOW especially playing online... He was questioning the whole idea of online gaming thinking it was for the warcraft geeky types (no offence to warcraft players but it does attract some of the worst!!) but since I plugged him in and showed him what do to I barely see him anymore...... Maybe I should do that to people I don't like instead of the ones I do!?

Yeah... But what i meant in this thread i made a good two or three years ago, is Xbox Live destroys your actual REAL social life, real life, not gaming life. We all love our games and like to spend lots of time with our consoles, but everyone needs a real life, going out with friends, doing things out in the real world.

Before i ever had an Xbox 360 i was not known by many people i used to be happy being on playstation 2 all day watching that game guru. Since i got an xbox 360 ive been in the xbox mags that often everywhere i go people say another place gaz is registered at.
If anything me getting an xbox 360 has brought me some kind of success. I might not be famous yet but still.
I really should stay of it as im on it a tad to much.
No offence mate, but it seems like you have spent your entire life in front of a computer, thinking that is an actual life. "Before i ever had an Xbox 360 i was not known by many people" That sounds like the oldskool stereotypical view of a geek, no real friends, doesnt go out, just sits at home playing games all day. I love games, i want games being involved in my life until i die, but you also need a real life, real friends. Go out a bit man. Get a real life.
Sorry if i sound harsh but unless you worded that really really wrong, it seems like you are a kind of sad little person that thinks that being on lots of forums and being known a lot over a gaming network makes you famous or special in anyway, what fun or cool things have you done in real life? or have you simply sat at home in front of the computer trying to make a name for yourself on as many forums as possible?
Again, sorry if i sound harsh, but wow. People need REAL lives as well as gaming lives.

Yeah... But what i meant in this thread i made a good two or three years ago, is Xbox Live destroys your actual REAL social life, real life, not gaming life. We all love our games and like to spend lots of time with our consoles, but everyone needs a real life, going out with friends, doing things out in the real world.

Chris im sorry that you have been given the impression that i may be some sad person who sits on my computer all day but thats completely wrong and blown way out of preportion.
I do have a social life and i do actually have friends. I do not sit on my Xbox 360 all day and even if i did would anyone on this forum really care?. Its not like anyone on this forum really knows me that make a statement like that or anyone knows what i do.
Granted i show up on search engines but the way search engines work is they will shoot up anything with my name on it even if its just a thread a post or a mention of me. I cannot control what comes up with my name on it as i dont own the search engines its there desccsion to list me on there. Ive also noticed that a lot of people pass judgement upon me esecially from places such as oxm without taking into account as to what i posted and if it was really that objectable to go make a big deal out of it.
Im not sure whats got you to take a negative and angry approach to my postings here however i am willing to discuss this with you so we can both work this out. I understand you did not come across as being clever or hostile but i guess thats just how life is.
I will admit to of played video games for 18 years which would make me a old school geek in some peoples eyes but the reality is i really am not that much of a geek.
As for the person that changed my signature asking me to stop bumping up old threads i will be the bigger man and apologise however it should be noted that there is nothing to stop others from replying to that thread and causing the thread to bump up.
I dont know what kind of person you expect me to be Chris but you cannot change someone for who they are.

Have no intention of "changing you" or anything, as i said, the way it came out it REALLY looked like you prided yourself only on the things youve done online, i just commented on how i saw things. You are new here so i'll forgive you for thinking that was angry (wanna see me angry look through some of my older posts). I've also been playing games for nearly 18 years so believe me when i say my comment had nothing to do with the length of time you've been gaming.
I mean come on, who wouldn't come to the conclusion you sit playing games all day from a statement like this:
[qoute]Before i ever had an Xbox 360 i was not known by many people i used to be happy being on playstation 2 all day watching that game guru.[/quote]
You are right when you say noone here knows you, but then to say something like what i just quoted then get defensive when someone points out that it seems like thats ALL you do with your life, again considering we don't know you, we are obviously going to think thats all you do.
ANNNNYWAY, i don't care, you don't care. Alls good.
I only replied cause it seemed like you were trying to make out Xbox live improves your actual social life, when of course it doesn't improves your cyber social life no question, but not real life.
ANYWAYY, time to get dressed. Just woke up. Need to go buy some paraphin for my fire staff. Going to be a night of beer and fire toys with some mates. Woop! If i get any good video of me doing firestaff, i may post it.
