When really he's using version 7 or even Photoshop Elements and makes pictures with bad cropping, and some stupid text with no banner or effects. tho apparently not enough to beat the last boss of heavenly sword yet. the game was about a 5.4 on a scale of 1 to 10 of easiness, 10 being hard. Then you get to the last boss whos like a 7.7-8.2.


also, the PS3 controller... not the layout, but i think the material it's made of... i don't care for that so much.
I don't do anything differently before / when playing ps3. i play it for the same length of time i used to play my xbox, hours on end. but the ps3 controller just gets dirty compared to the 360 one. the 360s grime was usually confined to the cracks on the side of the controllers where the pieces connect. the ps3's gets all over the place and cakes around the buttons / d pad. i find myself detailing it daily.

He then bought the "2nd worst thing" he's ever bought, Warhawk. He played it for litterally 10 minutes and couldn't continue. He told me the PS3 is the single worst thing he has ever bought, only just beating Warhawk and the Wii. He listed some things that concerned me, like the DVD playback is dreadful, and awful management of friends and messages. He sold Warhawk for PGR4 today, so if anyone wants a 60 gig PS3 for £280...

All this makes me not care for the PS3, at all

DVD playback is dreaful? How so? I don't buy DVDs anymore (Blu-Ray/HD-DVD ftw!) but the Blu-Ray playback is spot on, so I'd be interested to see what that is all about.

the wording for it is confusing, but theres some dvd playback mode that changes things from their default fps and forces them into 30 or 24 or something? i duno. my tv supports the 3 types 24? 30 / 60, so i turned that off.

when it was on it was giving some horrid jump/skip every 5 seconds or so that my friend didnt notice, but i definitely did. i had to stop a movie 10 minutes into it and fix it, it was driving me crazy.

warhawk... is badass, and of course you're going to get your ass beat in your first 10 minutes of an online only game. i hated halo 3 for the first 10 minutes of online. then 3 weeks later i realized theres a radar. now i beat ass online.

I know tv shows are generally shot in 24 fps, and I thought movies were as well. I didn't know that there was even such a thing as being able to change that. I'd just figure that however the film/show was shot was what you'd be stuck with. I mean, say you go from the native 24 fps up to 30. Where the hell did those extra 6 frames come from?

one day, it will kill the 360 in one area. Sports games. The hardware is beefier, and thats the only basis for my argument.
Of course, this is offset (tremendously!!!) by the fact that I can easily play with/against my friends (all own 360, except one guy who does play online at all). Still, its a heavy price to pay for something that MAY be worth it sometime down the line. My worry is that by the time the PS3 comes into its own with better than decent software it'll be too late, and most gamers will be waiting for the next-gen of consoles (built right into your brains:P!!!!)

And also, make sure he has BD 1080p 24 Hz Output (HDMI) = Off. I duno, from the description in the above link it isn't doing what i thought it was, but i can state w/ certainty that it was making this fraction of a second jump every few seconds that was only noticeable if you were intently studying your picture. once you see it it bothers the hell out of you.

To be be honest - I may have said this many many post's ago. I didn't even know in 2005 that the xbox360 was even coming out, didn't know what it was or could do properly or anything about it at all. My only games console was my PS2 and I was waiting for a PS3 but I went into town Christmas shopping and people were qued everywhere near Game and I took an interest.

When I discovered it was a new console release I just HAD to have it and if the PS3 had been released first before the 360 - then I think my 360 would be taking a back seat ...I may not have even bought it.

Well i have both consoles, just recently i find myself playing the PS3 much more, sure when the PS3 came out the games were a bit thin on the ground or already available on the 360. Not so much now there are some great games on the PS3, i am completely addicted to Stardust HD, i just can not put this game down and it cost me less than a fiver. Also Heavenly Sword and Warhawk are both great.

Now the other factor i want to throw in is, now that games are getting released on both 360/PS3 i will buy them for my PS3, Why??? simple really i have faith in the fact that the PS3 will actually turn on when i switch it on. Having been had by the RROD on the 360 i have no faith in the console anymore.

Please don't get me wrong though i don't think the 360 is shit or anything it is a very good machine, it has got some great bloody games on it, most recently that little game called Halo3 and i do play the machine enough to not sell it.

Also use my PS3 for ALL my DvD playback it is very good much better than the £300 Sony DvDplayer i have from a couple of years ago, plus it upscales my er-ahem slightly illegal copies of films.

Ohh and it doesn't sound like a fucking tornado is running in the room unlike the 360.

I played my mates PS3 last night, and honestly, I can't understand why people like it, at all. Installing a demo? PS3 store is very, very bad, nothing in it at all. I then played the Heavenly Sword demo, and I can't physically speak about how dreadful the game is.

I need to know why people actually like the PS3, and not "Coz I know it won't blow up when I turn it on." Because why would you want to turn it on?

Either some people are deaf or my hearing is very sensitive because my PS3 is not quiet at all it makes a humming noise and always has done.

umm... call of duty 4... if Home (+trophies) is not released before it comes out, and if i don't hear some amazing reviews as the the ps3 version running better, I'll probably end up getting it for 360 due to achievements and a larger online community (that i have to pay for =/).

i'm sure you buy all multi platform games for the 360 trigger, but like someone above said, if you didn't own a 360 and you bought all the multiplatform games that are out for the ps3, you really wouldn't have much to complain about. you'd be perfectly happy with your ps3.

i myself am a warhawk fanatic, and swear to this day that Resistance Fall of Man was the best single player FPS i've played on a next gen console. I own ninja gaiden and never completed it, tho thats not to say the game isnt good, i just have a knack for not completing shit. those are the only 3 games i own for ps3. but i do watch all my movies through it, the 360 i own doesnt have hdmi and my tv does not have vga / dvi. so my ps3 can upscale dvds whereas my 360 cannot.

oh for the record i think i own 27 xbox 360 games. could be more, i tend to loan a bunch out after i beat them.

3 ps3 games, 27 360 games, and i like my ps3 more.

The Size thing is a pathetic argument it is only a tiny bit bigger than the 360 (mine stand upright together so i can see the difference as i type this) and then i haven't got to find a place for the fucking huge power brick that the 360 comes with.

At the end of the day if i was forced to put money on who i think will win/sell the most consoles this gen. At the moment it would be a tight decision but i would stick it on the PS3 simply because there is a MASSIVE Ps2 user base that will want to upgrade to the PS3 simply because they are happy with what the PS2 has given them. These people also are NOT the sad little gits like us who discuss online the pros and cons of consoles, they make there decisions on past experience and what they see in the shops and with many games multi format they will choose the PS3 as the PS2 has served them well. Never underestimate loyalty.

Oh and what they do see on TV/Press is details about many failing XBOX360's and the fact Microsoft are not classed as 'Cool' by many works against them.

No mass9 the PS3 is not "huge" but its fucking heavy(you could use it to kill small children). Blu-Ray Movies on a 50inch plasma is beautiful. Im looking forward to what the future holds with the PS3, I'd say Blu-Ray has won over the 'Blu-Ray v HD-DVD' war but I did hear about a new multi-disk with blu-ray on one side & Hd-dvd on the other which sounds good.

360 doesn't really have heat problems in the newer batches

PS3 games get released a while after the same game is on 360

PS3 is harder to work with for developers than 360, partly because of blu-ray and the RSX processors

the list could go on.

Look, I was never trying to imply that the size should be/is a reason not to buy it. I was simply saying that you cannot say they are about equal in size. The PS3 is bigger than the original box, and that was big.

The SNES was a perfect sized system IMO.

I have to be very clear here, because I don't want to start shit.
We can (should be, at least) all agree that the PS3 has the beefier hardware. My main reason for not owning one is that I don't see any SOFTWARE (i.e. the reason for a games console) is pathetic. The multiplatform stuff should run 'better' on the PS3, but that isn't reason enough for me to spend $600 on a toy. I'd much rather have the less impressive technical machine with a shit ton of games than a powerhouse that plays bluray.

PS3 could be something great. I just don't think it is right now is all.
