YAWDYWTSOXBLAT - Yet Another What Do You Want To See on Xbox Live Arcade Thread :P

I came across one of those "wishlist for the arcade" articles at:

http://editorials.teamxbox.com/xbox/1936/Xbox-Live-Arcade-Reader-Wishlist-Part-One/p1/

and haven't seen much discussion on this subject as of late. So what games would you like to see come to the arcade?

Before reading the above link I had never even thought of Dragon's Lair, but that would be SWEET in HD, and is perfect for the arcade (the original version I had on my PC was IIRC 15 low-density 5.25" floppies, which would be like 5MB of space), and as a plus it has wide appeal (would appeal to both adults and kids). Shinobi was one that I was seriously addicted to on my old Sega Master System, so I wouldn't mind seeing it come to the arcade (although when Double Dragon arrives, my itch to play an old skool kung-fu game might be scratched).

And speaking of the SMS, since we have Phantasy Star Universe for the 360, why not go back to the series roots and do the original Phantasy Star for the arcade? Last November when my 360 was in the shop I played a ROM version of this on my PC and I gotta say it's easily one of the best RPG's of all time (then again, I'm not an RPG fan, so that might have something to do with it).

I know there's been a backlash as of late against retro titles, but I think that has more to do with which retro titles have been chosen more than anything (I find it difficult to imagine anyone who thinks RALLY-X is fun). I for one would like to see more old skool *favourites* come to the arcade (emphasis on favourites rather than average games from the past). And get away from the mid-80's games, there's a LOT of awesome games from old consoles that came out in the 90's that should be able to fit into a XBLA-sized package (especially with the increased size restrictions). Castlevania is an excellent example of a "retro" title which still feels modern enough to be fun, and it is one of the most played arcade games on XBL right now.

I really like the teamxbox site...this site is a bit bland in comparisson, but better mixed forum users...seems an equal balance between US & EU

I would say this site is a bit more content-focused rather than format-focused (ie teamxbox seems a bit too flashy for my tastes), but that's just me. ;)

back to the topic:

I can't wait for Double Dragon, but we all know that its out already.
What I want to see is maybe NBA Jam (the original, with the CRAZY ASS dunks), Scorched Earth (way better than Worms IMO), Puzzle Fighter, um....theres more....I just see the sun shining outside my office window and its 4:48 so I'm going to frig off for the day.

woo-hoo, spring time!

Forget just putting Double Dragon.
What about Battle Toads, and Double Dragon. That game was awesome. =).
Crash Test Dummies would be nice, but that'll probably be on Wii VC.

I really like fresh new content of XBLA, and do not care much for retro titles, unless they bring the title up to date like they did with Jetpac.

But here are some games I would like to see:
Arena (The first Elder Scrolls game)
NHL Open Ice: 2 On 2 Challenge
Fallout 1 & 2
The Simpsons
NHL95

I thought NHL96 was better than 95, but yeah some of the original NHL games would be sweet.

I agree Scorched Earth is an awesome game (better than Worms though I don't know), but it's also something of a niche game, as I don't think most gamers will have heard of it.

NHL '93 and '94 wasted more of my life than drugs, booze and rock 'n roll ever could.....8)7

as for Scorched Earth being a niche game, yeah, maybe, but I remember some epic battles my friends and I would have. Of course, being 10 year old boys at the time, the first loser of our games was be subject to "Allegations".

The Allegations in question consisted of being smacked on your stomach with a long hard plastic thing that was used to remove the guides on the side of the old dot-matrix printer paper. It looked like an alligator's mouth. Hence, you were subject to unjust Allegations.

man......we were some stuid kids8)7

There was a little known game called Silencer (check wikpedia for a description) for the PC around Y2K. It allowed up to 8v8 matches and was nasty!!!! I would love to see that come on.

I would like to see Sonic The Hedgehog 2, with enhanced graphics and split screen 2 player multiplayer mode like the original megadrive/genesis had.
In fact a totally brand new 2d sonic with 3d background environments would just be fantastic.
