It wasn't worth the hype to be fair. Nothing new is revelaed apart from the main guy is Russian and the place is Liberty City/NYC. It looks a lot more realistic, much more believeable city, but no gameplay, so can't confirm if it will look like that when it's playable.

It pretty much lived up to my expectations. We got to see the city which looks pretty good, and the lightning that looks very realistic to me. Good thing we won't have to play as gangstas again. Not that GTA:SA wasn't interesting because of it, but it's good to have at least some change.

Btw, Rockstar had this to say:

I was a little disapointed too. It looks great don't get me wrong. Its just i thought it may have gone to somewhere like Tokyo or London this time. I'm sure it will still be great.

The release date is the 16th October. Is this likely to be a global release date or have us europeans got to wait til later in the year?

And do you think they'll be a playable demo before the release?

Def. worth the hype, trailer definitely exceeded my expectations, game has potential to be my GOTY now.

I can see how you're disappointed in the setting (I think it's awesome, russian immigrant with a sketchy past? :9~) but being disappointed in the trailer is your own fault; GTA announcement trailers were always like this, they're just there to give you a sense of the storyline, setting and timeframe. You'll get your healthy dose of GTAIV media before October, don't worry.

And as far as that demo goes; as far as I know GTA games never had demos, don't count on it. Also, see Gears of War; hyped games don't need demos and if they don't need them then it's just a waste of good dev time to make one.

PS. If anyone expected to see gameplay with this trailer then they are not really with it. Never are Rockstar going to show gameplay with the first trailer.
Personally this trailer just reaffirmed my belief that this will easily be the biggest game of the year for me (yes i am NOT interested in Halo3) along with Crysis.

I was also kinda disappointed by the main guy, namely his face. I was expecting R* Table Tennis' character modelling, as suggested by some rumour last year. The game still looks amazing for a free roaming game though.

I have not liked any GTA game so far. I do not care for ganster games. I did not like Saint Row and cannot get into the Godfather. The problem is not the sandbox type of game, for I loved Simpsons Hit&Run, and I play Crackdown all the time.

Having said that, I will be watching this one closely. For now, it is not on my list......but it is on my radar.

Rockstar always do the characters slightly tongue in cheek i feel even when the world looks realistic i wouldnt be suprised if the heads exploded in the same way as in the previous outings, but the world look incredible really pushing the engine also have that downloaded on my 360 HDD

I think the character is a good design because he actually looks like a russian should/does. Not the traditional slavic features (angular jaw line, fine tip nose, high cheek bones etc...) but he has a certain feel to him. He looks like he is from one of the 'stans (former Soviet states i.e. TurkmeniSTAN, UsbekiSTAN, KazakSTAN etc...) without a major asian influence though.

It really hit home because he looks like a friend of my gf's father. His name is Yuri, and true to the sterotypical russian, Yuri drinks vodka. Often. Very often.

Yeah, she's awesome (in EVERY way). Her only downfall?......she does play ANY video games! NOTHING!.....EVER!!!! But shes' cool about my nasty gaming habit. She actually put the pre-order on my 360 way back at the launch for my birthday. (Worst mistake of her life :) )
