I dunno if this has been mentioned before but as the May dashboard update provides H.264 support for the 360, does this mean that HD video encoded in H.264 can be streamed from any XP/Vista PC with Media Centre or the Windows Media Connect tool to the 360 for HD orientated shenangians?
(i.e. downloaded HD videos in H.264) :?

I guess so...so long as it's in the supported format mentioned. With HD movie file sizes larger than most standard DVD's, it couldn't be burned to disk so streaming may be the only way or external usb HDD? (perhaps)

woohoo...first post/thread for std spanky\o/

I busted my posting cherry!
I'm gettin' more excited about the spring update now, HD downloads streamed to the 360 sounds gooooood! May's gonna be a good month, bring on the Halo 3 beta! :D

From what I've heard H.264 and MPEG-4 SP support are 360 only, and not available for streaming through the Media Extender functionality.

i dont understand how people get all these different file formats like xvid and h264 and all that - is it strictly copied dvds and stuff that are encoded to those formats?

So i guess visions of streaming HD content in H264 from the PC (legit or otherwise) with the may update are pipe dreams then?

Anyone know if it's possible to get HD video in WMV format that could be streamed to the 360 from the PC (apparently we must use Zune software to do this now according to www.xbox.com/pcsetup)

If anyone does know of a way to stream HD files from PC to 360....preferably without having to convert them...I'd be super interested to find out how!!!

cheers mate, I'm having a look at it now

tried out orb. seems pretty legendary, both me and the missus are fairly impressed.
I'm pretty sure its encoding on the fly though as the 360 supports bugger all in the way of codecs, this results in videos skipping a fair bit but it's a definate step in the right direction
