Just wanted to drop a line here somewhere... I submitted this for news for the site, but it didnt make it. :?
I know its a bit harsh, but I wanted to share with people how they might be able to remove their credit card info from microsoft.
http://m.onstro.us/2007/04/17/removing-a-credit-card-shouldnt-be-so-hard/
and the update here:

If you have TRIED and FAILED at removing your card, I urge you to give this a shot.

It's still queued actually, just not as high priority as other items about readily available downloads and the like :)

Yeah we love MS having our credit card details. I wouldn't be able to instantly buy points without it..

Oh, no worries then, I mean I could understand if it didn't make it because it is kinda a "pointing finger" thing at ms, and I know you guys don't like to get involved with that stuff sometimes, but I felt the issue was important enough to bring to whoever would read it, ever since ms had that issue with exploited accounts.
Thanks for your reply though Curry.

Guess I struck a nerve.
I was reading the comments on major's blog as I always do when he posts, and saw a funny comment.
I took an opportunity to have a laugh about it via a post on my page:
http://m.onstro.us/2007/04/24/comment-of-the-week-winner/
Major commented, so I'm going to try to use it as an opportunity to get at the root of the credit card issue amongst others. I sent him the email that appears after his comment.
I'll post back if he has anything other than what we've heard in the past about these things (pr type answers)

Laws vary by country. There is no reason microsoft needs to keep your payment details. They have even said themselves that you can remove the information, they just aren't quite letting you yet.
Look at buy.com and places like that. You can easily remove your cc info.
So I am on the phone again with xbox support...so far its been 25 mins on hold. Lady is getting a supervisor because "I see that you've called many times and there is still no update from microsoft on this issue. I do not show that they have read or taken any action."
As I'm on hold I hear that song "a lil bit of history repeating" and have a chuckle. ;(
after this, I get to call back a 2nd time and ask why the 1 month live card they said i'd get (for having to send in my 2nd 360 for warranty repairs in less than 6 months) didnt arrive. 8)7
So, after I spoke with Paul the supervisor, he revealed that no one has been able to get their cards removed, and that several people have called with this request. I asked if there was a procedure in place, or was the reason that no cards being removed yet was because it was a "work in progress", he said yes, it was a work in progress, and that he was hoping they figured out how to do it soon.
