and yes you can DL youtube videos and re-up them at other sites. happens all the time with stuff like this.

its similar to zanzibar but waaay different at the same time. like the stairs going up to the platform he goes on in the beginning is similar to that ramp by the sniper location, but in zanzibar it dead ends instead of wrapping around the wall and leading into the base. the base also looks immense to me with a bunch of new entrances and geometry. the bubble shield looks really interesting to me. it seems like it should be fun and spice up the gameplay even more, but ill wait till i use it in the beta before i become a true fan.

anyways, the 7 min video shows some actual fighting and a lot more of the level, showing that it is clearly a new rendition of zanzibar. highlights include:

-there appears to be a new "veto" system in the pregame lobby if you look carefully at the beginning of the vid
-new level design features in zanzibar (ramps, floor plans, ledges, etc, moving parts, etc.)
-graphics update and new art direction for zanzibar
-useful demonstration bubble grenade
-BR model update (not too different, just shinier and stuff)
-sniper model update (looks a lot more like the H1 sniper)
-assault rifle rebirth and model update
-smg model update
-laser
-new warthog model and driving demo
-the new mongoose ATV vehicle and driving demo
-new ghost model
-water physics (although not super impressive, it's still beta)
-some will be relieved that the reticles seem to be the same for most guns and the zoom screens for weapons are pretty much the same
-new Spartan Laser gun in action

they show this a tiny bit in the recently released MP vidoc. Its called the Brute Spiker, or something, and should do some nice melee damage judging by the blade on the barrel of it.

oh awesome thanks. i looked on bungie's site for any info since they have been posting those weapon bio's every now and then like the one you linked, but i couldnt find that one for some reason, although i was just skimming their news archive. i heard of the gun actually but i had forgotten about it and i had no idea what it looked like even though i watched the vidoc, but it was only once through and quickly. thanks again though. any more discussion? or is everyone all discussioned out by now?

I just watched it a second time. The map is a huge improvement over the last zanzibar. It just feels at least triple the size, and still (relatively) small enough to play 4v4. I played a couple rounds of Halo 2 today as I got hyped up by this video adn the current zanzibar just doesnt' feel right after seeing the new one.

Actually there are extensions for Firefox that allow you save FLV videos embedded in pages (such as those found on Youtube) to your local hard drive which you can play back later. The extension I use is called Download Helper which can be found at:

And the simple FLV player I use to play back saved FLV's can be found at:

Very handy for when people upload walkthroughs and such for games to YouTube and you want to keep a local copy.

agreed, but he's been saying the same old shit on the FP and in other forums. Quite frankly, its laughable to make such general blanket statements about something he obviously knows nothing about.

@ Sage, go out and buy Halo:CE and Halo 2. Go through the campaign and tell us what youthink then. Keep in mind that Halo:CE is, like 5+ years old, and Halo 2 is about 2.5 years old at this point. The gameplay and matchmaking are still second to none.

Granted, they both look pretty :r by today's standards, but shit man, thats why Halo 3 is coming out.8)7

All the new stuff looks awesome especially the ATV. :D Bubble shield looks hard to use but I guess I didn't get it when he threw it. That funny... thing... that shot the pink stuff. How someone can have an opinion about something they haven't even tried is beyond me, but whatever, I know I'll still run into you on Live matchmaking for Halo 3 and that's the funniest part of it all.

so you want a small world with linear gameplay that 'forces' you to do mission 'A' then mission 'B' then mission 'C' etc.....as opposed to the Obliv world which is basically "Do what you want when you want where you want". TBH, if you aren't into RPG's then you won't be into Obliv, but for anyone that is even partially into RPG's there is (thus far) no competition IMO).

don't get me wrong, GTA series have been pretty good to date (minus SA) but there was no need or desire to play through it (GTA III or Vice City) a second time. Obliv has kept me busy for 200+ hours and I still have more missions to complete (without Shivering Isles even!!!!)

I found a place to upload it, it's about 150mb in size, and I am about thirty minutes from finishing the upload. And I got it because I know some people... ;)
I'll be putting the link up ASAP. I am also gonna upload on putfile, just incase this server sucks ass or something. (It's called files-upload? Every here of it?) I'll create a torrent for it too, if I have time, just so everyone has their options!

BTW, its a WMV because my encoder sucks in Premeire Pro, and I can't seem to get it to export any other type correctly.
