What is your setup in your livingroom, bedroom or even the bathroom (would be a bit scary, but who am I to judge?)

http://img44.imagevenue.com/loc166/th_ab344_Afb001.jpg (http://img44.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc166&image=ab344_Afb001.jpg) http://img134.imagevenue.com/loc279/th_a1704_Afb002.jpg (http://img134.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc279&image=a1704_Afb002.jpg)

I know, I know... We need to fix that mess behind the tv :X Will do that when everything is settled!

I've got myself an xbox 360 Platium (50/50 with Messiah, my roommate) with the orignal faceplate.
Next to the 360 there is the original xbox, our media player (can't do without). Haven't played on it since the 360 though...
Samsung LE32R51b (http://www.samsung.com/nl/products/tv/lcdtv/le32r51b.asp) (32", 82cm) HDTV (ready), absolutely LOVE this tv! That's mainly the reason why I haven't got any money for a decent camera (note the crappy phone pictures) :P
The sound is fixed by the Creative Extigy (http://www.soundblaster.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=207&product=585). Only thing I hate about this thing is that he as only 1 optical in (xbox + xbox 360 = 2)
Speakers... Well.. :/ Creative Inspire 5300 (http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory=464&product=55). Pretty old stuff, but it does what it needs to be doing. Maybe one day I'll buy a decent system!

Mixelpix
February 14th, 2006, 23:05
I love the front projection... You have to control the lighting but how can you argue with COD2 in a glitched 16 person game with no lag on a 109" screen with full surround sound.

Even COD2 in single player with the sound turned up the neghbors thought WW3 was breaking out and those that can see thru the windows at night thought there was an invasion going on...

Native resolution on this projector (Panasonic AE700u) is 720p and the projector is whisper quiet, definitely quieter than the 360.

The best part is the HArmony Xbox Remote.... Press one button it turns on the projector, drops the screen, kicks the 360 in gear, turns on the amp and sets the correct inputs. I'd have it dom the lights too but I didn't want to shell out the money for good X10 light switches.

This picture of the screen sux since I have a bad low light digital camera and it's really bright outside with snow and sunshine so the picture would have been washed out.

I got a Grunding 26" Widescreen LCD TV, with the XBOX360 Premium and those two are connected via the VGA HD cable. Works like a charm. I get my sound via optical cable that is connected to my Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5500 (talking about old shit).

Sadly no pictures as my TV is in the repairshop (dont believe it likes HD signal so much).

best addition I made to my system was the sub woofer (http://www.richersounds.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=GALE-STORM8-BLK) for the 5.1 sound. Must say that the halo 3 adverts make for good show off pieces for your system. There are several bass bits that you might well miss without a sub or expensive speakers.

Still cant justify the cost of a KDL-32U2000U, why wont my crt just die.

or i play on a 27" wega with a 170$ 'surround sound' kit / setup in my room... with internet access !

or i play on a 37" LCD with 1080p and only stereo sound in my roomates room.

The only thing you can't really make out are the Bose speakers there. Its only the 3-2-1 series but it sounds awesome, specially for my small apartment.

Any suggestions for the crap load of wires down there? It really takes away from the set up. I have my router and cable modem down on the bottom. I was thinking about moving it to get rid of some wires, but I still have the problem of the wires coming out of the bottom of the TV. Don't want to drill a hole in the wall for the wires 'cause I only rent.

Since I'm well too lazy to walk into the other room, take a picture, upload it and post it here I'll just say what I have out there.

32" Philips SDTV
Xbox 360 Premium
PS2
Xbox Original
Wireless router plugged directly into my 360
DVD Player
Video player
Sky Digital Box

Time for some explaining then, eh?

1. We got that TV back in 2002 after our house went on fire. Insurance policy ftw. Anyway, I haven't been able to convince Mum or Dad to get a HDTV... yet.

2. The router. Long story, but to cut it short(er): When we first got broadband in September of '04, we got a crappy, normal, wired modem from Eircom (http://www.eircom.net). Since we didn't have an ethernet plug in our 2002 PC (once more, house fires can have some benefits ;); would probably still have that '95 PC otherwise) we just used the USB port on the modem. Anyway, I got my Live subscription with Halo 2 for Christmas (those bundle things they did) and went to set it up (by moving the modem from this room to the other) and it didn't work. So I rang up Microsoft, they take the Xbox in for repair... I get it back and I find out that my Xbox was perfectly fine. After a while, I said "Screw this, I'll ring up Eircom". The guy on the other end of the phone, who actually knew what I was talking about it (that's a first for Eircom), asked when we first got Broadband. I told him September and he was like "Oh yeah, there was a bunch of modems sent out around then with faulty ethernet ports. We'll send you out a new one". Got it and put the new one at the Xbox and played Xbox Live for the first time on January 19th, 2005 (almost a month after Christmas!). Anyway, I was getting pissed off of having the "I want the computer!" - "I want to play Xbox Live!" argument so I invested in a wireless router. Bought an ethernet card, set it up at my PC, put it at my 360 and use the USB wireless adapter that came with it at my PC.

3. The video player is still there because the DVD player is just a player, not a recorder. That and my Mum and Dad have plenty of old videos.

And yeah... that's my boring set up.

Here's mine... Runco PL-50c 50" plasma (circa 2000), Miller & Kreisel 750-THX 6.1 speakers, B&K AVR-307 AV receiver. Equipment's in an Avrak rotating rack in my media closet (in my office), Xbox 360 and HD-DVD are behind my sofa, connected to AV receiver via CAT-6 cabling with component and digital audio support. (Can't get VGA to work over that distance, sadly.) So the only things you see in the open are the 360, the speakers, and the TV. No visible wires anywhere.

Also shown with 360: GRAW faceplate, my HD-DVD collection, my Quick Charger and batteries, and my 360 games.

Not diggin' the Bowling Ball or Polar Bear. Smash them both quick.
Also, I say the TV oughta be swapped with the painting, so the TV is a little higher, or smash the painting and just put the TV there.

The TV is placed at the optimal viewing position... slightly lower than your eyes when seated. Why do people insist on putting TVs up high, where you have to crane your neck to see them?

Not going to argue you on that one, but I've always prefered my TV to be a fraction higher than eye level. Seems more 'natural' to me.

That is an awesome setup. Your living room doesn’t look very user friendly. How much time do you spend in that living room? Your office looks more comfortable and lived in from the small area I can see in the picture.

I do agree about the positioning of the TV. I tried both high and low and found that positioning the middle of the TV about 4 inches higher then my level sight sitting on the couch was the best. There is A LOT of literature on the internet about it. SMPTE and THX guidance on how high/far a TV should be viewed from. Not to say that you MUST mount your TV as suggested, in the end it’s the individuals’ preference that matters, I guess.

I'm in there a few hours a day... if not on the 360, then watching TV or movies. My office is a bit more ergonomically-friendly.

It's the 37PF9731D, featuring Ambilight Surround (on top as well), this year's EISA Award Winner for High-End LCD TV.

This is a question for all the projector users out there. I have a chance to pick up a decent projector for a good price. It's native resolution is 720p but can upconvert up to 1080p. While I'm sure that's ok for movies, I was wondering if it would cause slowdown or a delayed reaction if I played xbox 360.

model # Optoma HD73

My setup is a 50inch Widescreen Plasma Panasonic HDTV in my 7ft x 10ft bedroom. No. my laptop has a small wireless card plugged into its side, the big black square next to it is my pen pad, because I am awkwardly left handed in a big way, I can't seem to use any mice for the laptop or pc - so I use a pen as a mouse instead on a graphics tablet.

Yeah the TV is nice - but it wasn't a good idea!
lol yeah left handed-ness can be awkward for some and not others. I write with the notepads upside down so the edge is on the right side, My 'ticks' are always mirror imaged to right handed ticks. I can't use scissors, knives, and another well known fact for left handed people is the brain doesn't recognise left to be left or right to be right instantly.

When I was at school they thought it was some kind of dyslexia but got tested for it and it wasn't, just a syndrome of left handedness...lol

Man I'm also left-handed officially, but I'm more or less ambidextrous. I write left-handed, but do most other things right-handed, such as using a mouse or eating. I can actually write 'readable' with my right hand though, and swap most things not requiring strength or special control to my left hand with minor effort. I'm rather glad it doesn't screw me over with everyday stuff like this though :)

Hi, Here are some pics.
Sorry if you cannot see all the details as I took the pictures 13 feet away to get the entire projector screen in frame.

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/123/405085705_0fcdf25d80.jpg
On the left of the TV (51" for references), you can see both Xbox 360s...why two units?..one for the projector, and one for the TV of course...this was the cheapest way to resolve the problem of cable swapping.

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/165/405085708_106a7c8cd6.jpg
Here you can see my game and accessories collection I listed. Also I forgot about the MS charger and Xbox Live Vision camera and faceplates etc...
Not present in the pictures are my MS Racing wheel, and a few games and controller as I lent these out to a friend, but everything else is present.

But my jeep is still my favorite accessory :)

PS/ For the observant, you can see my Wii gathering dust besides my HD Cable box....bad purchase if I ever made one.

@ papajoe

I have the Optoma HD70 and games are sweet on it. I do not see any delay or anything.

Projectors are great. The only problem is that some people complain about the rainbow effect on single chip DLP projectors. With the new DLP projectors with faster color wheels (again both the HD70 and HD73 fall in this category) this effect is minimized, but that should always be a concern. I cannot see the rainbow effect, so I get to play Crackdown, jumping from rooftop to rooftop on a screen that is 8 feet wide....priceless.

I do have a suggestion, if you are going to invest in a projector, also invest in a good screen. Screens can make a huge difference. You will want to research this out. I have a High Contrast Gray screen with a black fiberglass backing...This is really a great screen for DLP projectors (like my HD70 and your HD73).

For the record thou, I mainly game on my 51 inch as replacement lamps on projectors are expensive.

Well at about $400-500 per lamp, that is about half my game budget for the year.

Seems like it.. I'm a southpaw too but can actually do some stuff with left and right.. like using the mouse. I do recognize your scissor problem. At school they had left handed scissors but I could only fold paper with those haha.. I play guitar righthanded though, 'cause I learned it that way. A piano player can't choose a lefthanded piano either, so that's why I learned it righthanded more or less ;)

And Curry's right about the intelligence. All the great minds in history were lefthanded. look it up! :)

But then your setup is jaw dropping and makes me realize that most of you must have high paid jobs to afford all this uber cool gear! :)

On the left handed side apparently the devil was left handed so I think it was ordinaire for left handed people to get prosecuted back in the dark ages. I never had any problems when I was younger but for when I used my pen and all my mates wondered about the way I used it.
