The person on the frontpage is the third time i've seen this happen to. It must happen a lot more than those three.

How about a bigger topic start? :P
I'm guessing you're talking about the guy who couldn't find the forum in this post (http://www.xboxic.com/news/586).

Yeah. The comment system that's already there is fine, but I think a lot of people just assume that's as far as the public involvement goes.
Maybe it's just me. :)

Here, Here. I say smaller forum button. If you aren't attentive enough to READ the website you are on then we don't need you posting in the forum! :*)

This site has 2 'Forums' in a way. The comments on the FP is the only one to the untrained eye. Not everyone is associated with web 2.0 yet.

Actually I visit lots of site which have both a comments system for news and a real forum :) The main difference ofcourse is that on the FP 'we' provide the topicstart by definition :)

I visit those sites too. Most of the time their forums are crap, so people avoid them. This forum seems to have a mature crowd which is nice. I wish all forums were as stable and civil as this one.

The site (http://www.tweakers.net) I have been an admin on for the last 2 years has the most respected technical forum of the Netherlands. It is ranked 18th worldwide on busiest boards and is completely clean of bullshit and immature shit :)

7 or 8 new forum registrations already in the 16 hours since the new template went live. Suppose it is working indeed ;)

I do like it. People were judging it because it doesn't feel natural to them yet. I think once they're on it for a couple of days, they'll love it because they won't have to think anymore.

It's natural for people to object to change. Change disturbs things :)
I've seen it happen when a forum with 150k registered users changed its template, I was in charge of 'customer support' at the time. In 3 days over 3000 posts with complaints were posted. Two weeks later even the worst complainers admitted quietly that they were liking it now.
I've offered the old template, that's all I can do. I don't care about keeping the old one online for the few people that object to change, and they'll drop it anyway once the seams start to break because of the news template's bigger versatility.
Having said that, I'll be checking logs for how many visitors are still using the old template :)
