I'll admit it here. Mass 9 kicked my ass last night when I wasn't on his team. I'm hoping it's because I'm new to the game but man I sucked it up bad.

lol, Fetter, don't get discouraged. It def takes some getting used to, especially if you've been playing a lot of CoD4. The multi has a totally different feel to it. Also, you have to keep in mind that many people, like myself, have been playing Halo 3 since Sept.
3 months is a lot of practice. Not to mention the hours upon hours of H2 multi.

With some practice, you'll be fine.

Then, spam invites to the game. Its tough to get a full room right away, but once a few people start to join it should snowball (frineds of friends of friends joining etc..)

You know, at first I didn't think there was any merit to a custom games hopper, but I don't think I really understood how cool Forge could be. Who knows though. They could always add it at some point.

You can browse through Forge maps on the forums at b.net but it would be nice to do this directly from in game. And even then, I'd still play more matchmaking. Its still a nice amount of varied gametypes IMO.

I think it might be awesome to look in a list of maps, find a map you're interested in, then 'preview' it by letting you roam around the map as guilty spark just to look at it. Then, if you're interested, press some button to download it in the background.

I like the idea, but I'd imagine that implementing something like that would be a total bitch nightmare. Maybe for Halo 4......erm....should I say, Marathon, featuring Master Chief (because we all know that we haven't seen the last of MC).

Ya... so color me not as pleased as I should be.

I was playing the new Halo 3 maps online last night. Not bad, I like the one that has kind of a race track around it. I helped win a capture the flag by driving my tammate who was holding the flag to our base.

So then I turned it off and did a few things. Then I decided to get into the single player. So I resume whatever little Is tarted when I first rented this game. I should've started from scratch.

I'm playin' through not thinking much about how far I'm getting through the game. I notice that no acheivements for completing missions were popping up. Of course I was thinking to myself there is no way that one mission is this long, maybe they don't want pop ups interfering with gameplay so they pop up when you save it and exit or something. So I get all the way past the gigantic anti air cannon that you have to take out (the one that's really loud). Beat that and get about half way into the next mission (mission 6). Time for bed so I save and exit. No acheivements.

Turns out I was playing on the easiest difficulty. I would've at least picked normal for a first play through if I would've known that. Now I've played all that with nothing to show for it! lol. What I'll probably do is just finish it now that I'm that far and start it over on Heroic. And then play legendary at some point.

Rocket Racing. I tried this for the first time last night. It was alot of fun! Although I guess my biggest complaint is that out of the handful of matches that I played, there were a few that the people just ran around shooting rockets at people. I wish people could play by the rules.

When you are in a game with 5 or more people you need to use the D pad to "mic up" and talk to your team mates, I understand that. But when a team mate is right next to me I should be able to just talk and have him hear me right? I've done several test and the person never hears me unless I press the D pad even if they are standing right in front of me. Am I doing something wrong? Is it suppose to be like that? In close proximity I should be able to hear my team mates and vise versa without them or me hitting the D pad.

No, if an enemy is near you and you speak they hear it through their speakers.

WOW! I didn't know that as I only played Halo 2 online twice. I didn't get Live till I got my 360 in February.

Actually, I just beat Halo 2 lastnight. And yeah, I can see why people were dissappointed with the ending. I hope Halo 3's ending is better. I haven't played Campaign yet as I hate beating games out of order and I want to play Halo 3 campaign and beat it with 4 players.

Microsoft sent out a little email of jubilation this evening touting sales figures for the Xbox 360 and a few of its published titles. Microsoft states it has sold 17.7 million Xbox 360 consoles worldwide and although the NPD numbers aren't out yet for December, the Xbox 360 sales should be higher than the 770K sold in November. Nobody has any thoughts or comments on the update? I'm surprised. I played about 4-6 games last night and I noticed a big difference with the Melee. Melee is much improved IMO. I also like how they fixed the flying meleed bodies that use to launch 3/4 across the map.

Last night, I got into a BTB game with a whole clan of pretty high ranking dudes.
One of them was TJ Scoot. He works for Bungie. I'm pretty sure he does level design or something. The team was mostly Colonels and Brigadiers (sp?!?!) and we got SMOKED 3-0, but it was fun as shit getting a Killjoy and a Bomber Kill against one of the creators of the game. :P

NOTE: mass9 was the ONLY positive Kill : Death ratio on his team. Yeah, I'm amazing......

I thought it didn't fit very well in the game. It just seemed out of place to me and goofey to me. I'm glad it has been corrected. :)

Well it has taken me from October until now !! - 5 and a half months to clear Chapters 8 & 9 on Legendary. I tried with a few people who just couldnt clear it me, but HylianHitman working with me (once I stopped accidentally shooting & sticking grenades on him) it only took 1.5hrs...

took me a few nonconsecutive hours play while i was really baked. its easy, but i played the first two waaaay too much. and dont work alot. and dont sleep until i finish a game..

yeh, i keep hold of it knowing ill go back at some point, but its got a bit old for me. its kinda been the same game for 6 or 7 years and the people i used to play halo1 too much with dont seem to mind. and it worrys me.
i still havent really played the heroic maps much yet or even played that griffball game so ill go back when i get tired of cod4 or frontlines, which may not happen for a while. frontlines has recently made most of its maps 50 player and cod4 have there snazzy map pack, which is enough to keep me on them for now but they dont have anywhere near the longevity of halo. unfortunately for me i think ive worn it out.

I got the maps .. they are sweet!! My thoughts sfter a couple hours of play:

Blackout -- Well, it's lockout. It an awesome map for all game types ... That aside, lockout is the best multiplayer map I've ever played, next to the original Hang 'em High.

Avalanche -- Nice, large map. Will play a lot like sandtrap ... and will be a great addition to Big Team Battle. Nice for symmetrical objective games, as well as one sided flag and assault. You can drive the warthog right into the base pretty easily with the man-cannon out front ... then grab the flag and drive it right back out another mancannon and you're on your way. Unfortunately, you have to beware of the snipers and missile pods and splazers goin off on the way back. There is a nook that is nearly completely black where someone could hide with a power weapon (splaYz?) and do some DAMAGE. Great map, not exactly sidewinder. Oh yeah, and avalanche's forge pallete is huge! You can place like 35 crates ... and there is a pretty nice way to block off the entire base part of the map ... This will be hella cool.

Ghost Town -- This may very well turn out to be one of my favorite maps. It kind of has a COD4 feel to it ... with all the textures and details. It's very elaborite ... there are at least two ways, if not four or five, to get to every place on the map. I think this map was made for infection gametypes

The screen efect were cool too. All in all, for 800MS Points, I give it a B+ ... worth a buy!

Blackout
Sweet remake. Some little tweaks to make it work with Halo3 physics, but its all the same, witha nice new skin. Two thumbs up. We need more remakes of the older maps.

Avalanche
Me likes this map. A lot. Lots of powerups, lots of weapons, and TONS of vehicles. This map is a blast, and a 15 minute CTF game feels like its only about 5 minutes.
Splazers and Rockets and Banshees, oh my! Good times to be had here.....

Ghost Town
I can has confusion? Only ran through this once for a multi CTF game. I found that I couldn't tell which base was which, but I know that once I learn my way around the map, this will be a blast for objective games. Its a little too tight for slayer, and a good team could dominate if they held the high ground on this map. But at last, a non symetrical map for 1-flag and 1-bomb games. Finally.

In all, a pretty good map pack, but I always want more.

Bungie hasn't released officailly exaplining these achievements, but I'm fairly certain that they will announce it tomorrow. They have been noted as saying that some of these will not be available until Septmber 25th (tomorrow), which is of course the one year aniversary of Halo3's release. There has been some speculation as to whether or not they are campaign or multi maps. No Multi maps have ever had skulls before, but you can't use forge in campaign as it stands today. All I know is that you can count on something big ahppening tomorrow in the bungie world.

So bungie.net has changed it's splash screen again. Apparently they're getting ready to announce something ... I'm hoping for the new maps ... although we've seen nearly this exact screen before @ E3 ... when the new game reveal was delayed. So I'm leaning towards that. Maybe both!! That would be mega-cool ... and very un-bungie. They like to trickle out details one weeks at a time.

The countdown gave a new trailer posted @ Bungie.net. Pretty low on information, but in classic bungie style there are 1/2 second clips of stuff that you can't ... I'll have to wait until someone breaks it down frame by frame to show al the hidden images ... I'm waaaay to lazy to freeze frame that.

Anyhoozer, I think it's teasing a MAJOR Halo 3 expansion. Definitely a chance that we'll be seeing additional Campaign levels ... which makes sense considering that there are skull-related achievements to be had with the new update.

It definitely confirms that Master Chief is not the character in the new campaign chapters, and since it's Titled RECON, I've got to assume it's about a Marine. No shields? No problem!! The trailer also teases how the superintendant is involved.

Yeah two years is a long time to wait for DLC.

But other than that, I don't see your points as valid. Uses the same engine? Lots of game ungines get reused (caugh *World at War* caugh).

As far as the speculation/teasing goes, yeah that's gonna happen. There are a lot of people who are really into the storyline in the Halo. I check their blog at least once a week, and wouldn't even consider myself a hardcore fanboy by bungie's standards. Plus, there's no-one better at creating hype than Bungie/MGS.

Yeah sorry, I didn't mean that re-hashing an engine was bad (gotta love UE3). Just Halo's sucks. I know my comparison is blindingly obvious, but I find it staggering that CoD 4 can look absolutely stunning (which, let's remember, isn't "Full HD" either, in terms of pixels) and be as smooth as a baby's arse, yet Halo is sluggish and doesn't look the part. Microsoft should employ Infinity Ward to do the next Halo, that way it'll be almost bearable.

Edit: Seems they will at least have a chance to improve the game's engine, and it explains why it sounds like an entirely new game:

Yeah I just read that too ... I have mixed feelings on that. I was hoping it was an expansion pack. A DLC kinda thing. Although they haven't exactly ruled it out as a possibility ... I don't know. I guess we'll just have to wait until Bungie painstakingly slowly releases the details one at a time over the next year. Here's hoping that one of these two things is true:

a) It is available either standalone OR as DLC,
b) It costs less than $60.

I'm kinda assuming it's more Halo 3 Multiplayer content. Purely speculation, but I doubt they introduce a new character model into H3 multi ... it's either a completely new Multiplayer experience (which i doubt) or just simply more DLC.

And as I think about it, what would maek the most sense would be to sell a new game @ 60 bucks that has all the launch H3 content, plus the new content. At the same time, offering it as DLC to all people who own the stuff now.

Oh and I forgot to respond to Ross's comment fully. Halo3's maps are much larger in scale than COD4 ... which probably contributes quite a lot from a technical perspective to what you're talking about. I'll take the vehicles and massive maps over the awesome looking textures in COD4 any day ...

But that's just me ... keep in mind I've been without HD for almost 9 months now. I keep forgetting how much better it was ... sigh.

The oddest thing happened to me in Halo campaign today... if anyone can access my file share its the Video on file share number 23. Was getting killed and running out of energy, to get away flew up this stone wall and saw two soldiers waving guns at me so I killed them then flew off the edge of the map haha...was weird... but after I killed the soldiers this great big UNSC plane type thing flew at me and then vanished into thin air...

Whats more odd is that each time I go there now...they aren't there anymore no matter what game mode or settings...if anyone else can try on their console would be appreciated as now I can't seem to get them back...

one (of the many) things that Bungie does better than the rest is stat tracking. I like to check out my kill:death every now and then....make sure its still respectable and all.

Yeah they have different double xp games every weekend, and the game doesn't feel as slow to play as it used too - not sure if any improvements been made but it's more fast paced than I remember it.

I've taken to this game, it's my new CoD3 replacement so once I've had it a few weeks I'll be fine. Those who've lept over from Halo2 I guess are just carrying on where it left off at the same standard.

Although I knew Halo3 ODST had all current map packs on the disc with an extra 3 new maps...Citadel e.t.c I didn't realise until now that the reason for that is because you can play Halo3 multiplayer from that disc, it wont install new maps...

What is confusing me is the achievements. So I play the new maps from Halo3 ODST disc and find the skull on Citadel which will then unlock the achievement on my Halo3 list. It must mean then that Halo3 ODST can't have a seperate achievement list of it's own... so I am more inclined to think that the Halo3 achievements will go from 1750 to 2000 because I think the ODST achievements must have to be added to our Halo3 achievement list...

The double xp weekend now is amazing... its 3 ball, basically oddball but with 3 balls and 4 teams !!!! It's manic but a good opportunity to try and get the oddball achievements and whatever the one is for killing a whole team (cos theres only 3 to a team in this gameplay type)

Ah I got that achievement on Grifball Grifbox on Team Mythic, using the hammer to keep smashing my way when I was close to their bomb place as they respawn there. Also got Bulltrue on that one as everyone gets a sword too so was able to kill a player during a sword lunge at me.

Oh and only just got we're in for some chop achievement, I threw one of those blue ball things at a ghost which stopped it and it blew up...

Then it should match us all up together in a ranked free for all match which we can still chat through the party thing and discuss what we need to do to get achievements.

Yeah he must have been boosting to up his skill or got too many achievements in one day. Theres so many bans going on at the minute for people rushing up to skill level 50 when they've only played something like 60 matches.

I on the other hand only need the one achievement... just overkill which is harder now since FFA has been reduced to 6 players instead of 8 when I last used to play it a lot... but I think so long as we all have similar or equal number of kills and the person who wins isn't miles ahead...think we'll be fine.

The other one I was really struggling with was the Triple Kill with swords in FFA but got it the other day by finally having the invisible ball thing and a sword at same time as 3 others were trying to shoot each other... pity there wasn't 4 stood there...

Watched this AMAZING European film a couple days ago, about this autistic kid whos obsessed with some MMO called archlord, bit weird a first, but when it gets into it. Wow. Amazing fucking film.
