Mythic Maps are better than Legendary, don't buy Legendary just yet in case any offers come about since they are old now... last time Legendary came out, the Heroic ones became free - hold on it a bit.

well, I bought Mythic and Legendary maps packs this weekend(got all 3 new skull achvmts). Played a lot of Halo 3 since then. I wish there was a way to search for custom public matches in Halo 3. I don't think there is but I'm sure you guys will correct me if I'm wrong. The only way to play custom games is to start one on your own and invite friends, or, know someone on your friends list that is playing in one. Wouldn't it be nice to have a public lobby where people can create custom games and anyone can join in etc??

There isn't a way to search. That's one of the biggest bungie complaints from halo 2 and 3. I think they want to keep their stats as scientific and clean as possible and for the most part keep a computer generating the matches where you meet random people from the universe. They love their stat tracking.

Because its a Zombie Double XP weekend there are MASS amounts of people hecticly playing the Double XP playlist to find a Mythic Zombie Map to get the two achievements. Everyone sees a non mythic map and shout "Veto" VEEEEETOOOO

People think I have cheated because I got the Mythic Zombie Achievements last week! 18th April 09 since the Zombie Double XP only came out Thursday night 23rd April 09...

NO BASTARD believes me when I say there is NOT... 'N' 'O' 'T' a mythic map in the Zombie Playlist - I got my achievements a week ago by a random game of Rumble Pit - simple as that!

see this helmet? I have been using this since I started playing Halo 3 again. All of a sudden I do not have the option. What happened??? I don't even know how I got that helmet in the first place. I thought you needed to complete all the original 1000 achievements to get it(which I have not done). :?

That is the security helmet, (Idea from Marathon) you get the security helmet and sometimes the Katana at the same time...you used to only get these by unlocking the original 49 achievements in the game before it had updates to 1750...

Now what happens is the armour comes and goes frequently each time you unlock a new achievement so when you get another achievement again it should come back. When you are anything between 1100 - 1200 Gamerscore it probably will not go again. Its a well known problem since they added new achievements.

Yes because when Halo3: ODST is out there is another 3 maps ( Citadel, Heretic & Longshore ) to complete the mythic set. Thats also why the Vidmaster BrainPan achievement can't be gotten yet as there are 6 skulls to find on the Mythic Maps. The other achievements require you to get certain kills on the maps also....

...and the final 3 maps will never be released via Marketplace not by any redeem codes. They will be embedded on the Halo3: ODST disc along with the current 21 Halo3 Maps as you will also be able to play Halo3 online via that disc.

I really have become a Halo 3 addict once again. It just happened, now I'm playing Halo 3 whenever I turn my 360 on. The Mythic Brawl was fun this weekend(double XP playlist). I've found tons of great forge maps via bungie.net that are making for some excellent custom games with big groups of people.

I know its shocking - we're both in the Halo3 club :( I can't help myself its a better game now than it used to be thanks to new maps, and the fun weekends. I love fiesta mode and wish they'd bring that back some other weekend.

I would play more ranked matches but they don't support most of the DLC. Custom games are sometimes the best fun you can get. If you can get a good amount of people playing, the fun can last hours and hours. Different maps, different forged versions of the maps, different game variants. I find some of the infection/zombie games to be a lot of fun! "INFECTED" ... "NEW ZOMBIE"

Im not sure...but yeah I've played with Bungie Employees recently - one I remember was called 'Ske7ch' and put it in my fileshare videos - might be called flaming recon or something similar

To be honest, I am fed up of children on xbox live...they are vile and vulgar and I hate them screaming at me, singing at me, rapping at me, telling me what they got for tea, what they are doing at school...where their mother has gone...IM like WTF who fucking cares...go away...console ban required!

The problem with that is that you usually end up talking over the idiot because you can't hear him anymore. Then no one can understand what you're saying because you don't realize you're talking while he's singing/rapping/making a stupid fucking noise/ sucking his dad off/ shoving a ps3 controller in his rectum.....

I see where you are coming from, but the fact is, a good 80/90% of people you find on XBL are IDIOTS. you would just end up muting everyone all the time, saves time just to not plug in your headset.

And while i think the player review system is nice, its completely and utterly useless, how often do you get put in with the same prick in matchmaking in say gears, halo or CoD? Very rarely, you avoid one team of loud cocks and you get put in a room with another group straight away. The review system is so pointless, i aim for bad rep, i have over 60% avoided, yet i have all my stars on my profile so i look like a lovely person. Noone can see your own rep but you, and you pretty much never ever get matched with the same people more than once anyway.

Yeah true I guess...the XBL review system though should be scrapped! As it is only there for when someone wants to avoid you - everyone knows when they want to give bad feedback, but no one hardly ever gives good! I am at 92% Avoid and I rarely even speak...

I like odd glitches and stuff - my funniest was the one where I shake and shake into the flooring, another one I got stuck between 2 glass panels and then most recently died the same time I boarded a vehicle. I could move my head and then I just vanished into thin ait...

Got bungie.net, then you should see 'Online Stats' on the menu bar top of the page, then scross down to 'File Share'. From here you will see your items and how many people have seen them, the ones that are movies will have a small 'Render Beta' option. Click it and if you're in the Bunie Render to Video beta you should have points which will allow you to render some video minutes.

Do the right selections and then once a video is rendered people can watch it straight from your fileshare. You will also have the option to download the video to your PC

Well 'Action Sack' is coming back soon (the Halo2 playlist) and I can't wait for that. Nobody gets any EXP but games like infection and fiesta modes will now be permanent!

Team Objective & Team Mythic will be taken down too, but not sure when. I will miss Team Mythic!! You find people who pay for their maps aren't such twats...

I managed to render that Video in the end using some unused minutes and watched it online. The Video Rendering service goes fully live on Bungie Day 7th July for everyone.

My wife has an xbox live gold account but if she played alone she cannot use the DLC. Why is that?? Seems silly if we're using the same HardDrive.

Well, thats because you haven't migrated your content over to your new xbox console with the official DRM tool... it's not the HDD thats the issue, it's because you have a new console which gives you a new console ID.

You have to re-download the content again on your new console, it doesn't take long at all since the content is already there it basically overwrites just some data very very quickly on each item in your download history to give it the new console ID info

Damn... I knew it, remembered the question as soon as I clicked the mouse. So, I get a message when I save screen shots, vids, etc that says.. you can only store 100 things, etc. What is considered in the 100 items? Everything?? Screen shots, videos, map variants, game variants, etc??? It's going to be a pain to start finding things that I do not want and delete them to make room for new stuff.;(

I don't know - I think it may also mean temp vids of recent games too. If you put in your Halo3 disc and hold up on the d-pad and A, when you see the 360 logo and keep it held until the menu appears, then it will clear your Halo 3 cache of un-needed recent games.

The guy who was to do leak the achievements of the most wanted game of 2009!! I had been on him for a little while. If I hadn't written my news when I did - another site would have got in there first.

I didn't like doing it to the guy, but he became news on IGN and I couldn't let that go - I was the only newswriter from anywhere able to have direct messaging with him and I knew it was going to happen days before it got leaked. I even wrote about it in the newsposters only thread... I was getting excited about the leak, because I just knew it was a world first - no one had ever done it like how he had done it.

He has since banned me from all lines of communication with him and his processes!!

No other sites reported on it, but just checking the hits list now...its brought in just over 2300 extra just from N4G when adding up the full list and we was only 1000 less for the whole days readers in comparison to _chris_'s Gears 3 story which is very good going.

It did the rounds on twitter, can see people did the RT: @xboxic thing which promotes that post.

A lot of commenters on the FP with that story, so all in all I am pleased by it

I haven't even been bed yet!! I made a decision to stay up all night to break my bad habit of going bed at 4 - 5 am, it needs to be around 1am again.

No he has never played Halo3: ODST, he found a way for making the xbox console think he had played it by manually editing his gamerprofile on a PC, putting it in the console and POP! all the achievements came up from the Xbox Live Server.

His 1st biggest mistake was making a public video. I was actually so excited when I knew this was coming a few days ago, I didn't know what game though - I thought it would be ODST or Modern Warfare 2 - he should have done both!!!!

Well my friend and I have tried 5 or 6 times and were playing with Kids there all on study leave so they are available in the day, and we have gotten to the second jump at the end of the level and they quit or their connection dies so frustrating! I was looking at ur Halo Achievements u have everything I am still stuck on a few Original release achievements Stepping Razor, Overkill and Killing Frenzy :P The others I will get through normal playthroughs but those ones are ridiculously hard to get :P

Yeah I was caught like for ages...until I had a brainwave...

I loaded up my US account and went into the Lobby of 1 vs 100 where your avatar stands around in a queue. Then I got out a 2nd controller, logged in my usual main account and then it said Press Start to join. When I press start to join - I can then log out of my USA account and have full control using just my UK account for the rest of the night...

BUT - it's not a game you can play anytime you want, it's only available through the primetime section of the USA Marketplace at specific times

I havnt looked into it yet but will that affect my connection at all or lag me out? I use to have that problem back when I first start playing Halo 3 online. It was happening a lot and was very annoying. I tried so many different things until my friend turned me onto some firmware that you can use instead of Linsys's. I've been using it since then without any problem. Because with GAME in the UK they have a 1st to Play policy where they ship your game early so that you get it on release day... most games in the UK come out on a Friday so they ship a game usually to reach you by Wed/Thurs - but with ODST being a Tuesday release (really unusual for the UK) and the weekend in place, means they ship it earlier again than usual.

The only clip I have watched out of everything that is going around is how to complete a level on Legendary, Solo shooting no bullets and using no grenades, because it's a VidMaster.

It's very good. Plus I like having all the maps for other Halo3 Multiplayer on 1 disc, means I can delete all my previous downloaded maps too.

I just completed a solo level on legendary using no grenades and firing no bullets... 4hrs it has taken me... that was TOUGH!!!! it looked easy in the youtube video, but it really was hard.

Found all the skulls now for Halo3... Citadel was easy to find, but not so easy to grab...you need to think with that one.

I managed to get the VidMaster Classic & VidMaster De Ja Vue...

VidMaster Classic is hard, I died over 30 times...not allowed to fire shots or use grenades whilst being on your own at Legendary level!

VidMaster De Ja Vue is like the Halo3: 4 in Ghost's VidMaster but easier. Again takes patience, but with 4 ppl

VidMaster Endure is virtually impossible...so little lives, so much to kill...it's worst achievement ever...

I survived 60 waves of FireFight (all 4 sets) and I have never beaten anything so hard in all my gaming life...seriously it's unbelievably difficult and non stop, plus more skulls get turned on the further down you go.

I don't know, because I dont have 2 consoles to try it. But it really fucking tough!! - it's not an enjoyable experience and will take you well over 2hrs a try. It took me two tries at 5 hrs.

You are so wrong... Cheaters will not get Recon. All the VidMasters have to be done legit so the Bungie Server flags your account profile that you have completed the requirements. If you cheat the achievement or mod it to unlock, the bungie server wouldnt have any gameplay logged so no cheater or modder could ever have Recon..not ever! It relies on checking real gameplay.

That is the reason why ALL VidMasters have to be done online, and all my VidMasters are logged on the Bungie Server, FireFight Games, Legendary Solo, 4player Legendary with Iron ... it's all there.

In fact, my firefight movie will soon go on my fileshare...all 60 fucking waves of it on Heroic Setting. It's a 2hr Video.

Halo3 VidMasters obtained in 2008 except for VidMaster BrainPan which is easily finding all skulls. All the others are pretty easy too since '7 on 7' is date related, 'Lightswitch' is player progression and 'Annual' is just like De Ja Vue...good teamwork.

ALL Seven VidMasters Legit... My Recon is well and truly deserved - for Endure alone to be honest since it took a few attempts.

Im not saying I am perfect, but a 65K+ gamerscore on the same account over a four year period with 115 Games isn't a great deal...

I have previously put my hand up to sign in, sign out glitches which before the most recent nxe update worked on arcade games and Gears of War... most of my cheated score is arcade games which were bought 2005 - 2007.

But cheating is Bad...and I have stopped since I know the newer update has brought in better detection methods. Retail games and games I play and enjoy a lot I never ever cheated or attempted it.

I had originally set up a Heroic FireFight game to help an Xbox Live friend get 'Endure'. However since needing 4 people and no-matchmaking, no one was online playing this...

Found 2 retards on Bungie to join me, so waiting on friend to join...
H34RT 4TT4CK joined me through dashboard, so then kicked one of the 2 retards out because then it would be Myself, H34RT, Xbox Live Friend & 1 Retard...

Xbox Live Friend hat NAT errors and couldn't join, so out of no where this other retard who was a friend of the original retard joined...

Played all the way Heroically through 58 of 60 waves and the retards friend killed us all then quit out...

He fucked up the achievement for H34RT, himself and the retard... but sent me a message saying "Ha ha... did you get teh acheevement"

Lesson learnt...never play with people you dont know when it comes to achievements. If it wasn't for the fact I had already gotten all mine - I seriously could have exploded. God knows how H34RT 4TT4CK feels !!!!

Question: When trying to get the Firefight 200,000 point achievements, does EASY give you just as many point per kills as say normal, heroic, and legendary? I'm trying to think of the best way to get those achievements. If easy gives you the same points per kill then I would think playing on EASY would be the best method.

No - you get more points on harder settings and even more points for using skulls. I need the 200K achievements too...

Did you know that there are Avatar Awards when you complete every achievement in this game? Meant to be an ODST suit, with blue visor helmet.

Heroic Setting is the best because you only need to survive 2 Sets to get the achievement. With Grunt-Bday Skull on because it helps score points in bonus rounds to get extra lives for survival...

1. IGN told us how long it would take to beat it, long ago.
2. He claimed he owned all the map packs already except 1, which hardly justifies the 60$.
3. PAYING FOR A BETA is absurd. they really have you by the balls if you're willing to pay them to test their software.
4. Firefight is extremely limited by its lack of matchmaking. For adults, who have lives, it's hard to get a group of people to play an extended firefight session according to your time schedule.

This game is barely worth a rental for the 5 hours of gameplay it will give me. I did it just for him, and because there was nothing else to rent.

edit: the fact that "the beta" is one of your selling points for this game is insane. it's 1/2 of your argument as to why I should buy this game. So basically, it's 30$. 1. IGN told us how long it would take to beat it, long ago.
2. He claimed he owned all the map packs already except 1, which hardly justifies the 60$.
3. PAYING FOR A BETA is absurd. they really have you by the balls if you're willing to pay them to test their software.
4. Firefight is extremely limited by its lack of matchmaking. For adults, who have lives, it's hard to get a group of people to play an extended firefight session according to your time schedule.

This game is barely worth a rental for the 5 hours of gameplay it will give me. I did it just for him, and because there was nothing else to rent.

edit: the fact that "the beta" is one of your selling points for this game is insane. it's 1/3 of your argument as to why I should buy this game. So basically, it's 20$. You're willing to pay 20$ now to 'test' probably 1 map worth of content... and then pay another 60$ (probably $120, because fanatics will buy some completely retarded 'master chief pistol' version of the game) in order to buy the actual game in a year? Infamous did the beta thing too with Uncharted 2 as well. It was on the front of the box, did you pay for that Beta? That's debatable. (assuming you bought Infamous or rented or whatever.) I guess since you can't just play Halo: Reach without buying ODST you're paying for it. I'm just saying for me, that adds value to something I would've already paid for. Are all the people buying Prestige Edition of MW:2 for $129.99 idiots also? I didn't buy the Halo helmet when it came out. I'll never pay that much. About IGN, I find it funny that you mention that they tell you the length of campaign, but you of course ignore that they gave the game a 9/10 (Even while mentioning how short the campaign was). It's obvious they think it's worth it.

Ok so... clearly i was stretching the truth and i didn't just rent a game to loan it to a friend. I figured I'd get one to two nights worth of quality gaming out of it. I mean Chris was right, and i went into it knowing IGN gave it a 9.0.

After playing coop for the past 3 hours with a friend... I don't understand why.

Gameplay: when you're in the main, nighttime mode guy who's looking for beacons from his friends... the game is boring. Why they make you walk through miles of city with barely any enemies in order to get to the next 'map' is beyond me. pretty boring.

Also, wtf is going on in this game. I find a helmet, or a remote bomb, etc on the ground... and somehow my guy makes up, or remembers an event he didn't experience? it would make sense if i was actually collecting my squad together into a team, or if the people died and somehow i found their 'black box' that informed me what happened to them.

But the teammates i 'find' / play as... don't die, and don't join my team. How the fuck does the main character know what went down?


I duno why I expected a quality story out of a Halo game. Shoulda learned my lesson w/ Halo *half-a-story* 3.

Did you know that there are Avatar Awards when you complete every achievement in this game? Meant to be an ODST suit, with blue visor helmet.

That is very exciting I was hoping for some ODST armour :D

I completed the game on Legendary Yesterday took about 10 hours or so worth it really!

I liked the change of game play will go back and play it easy or something to find all the audible logs and a few campaign based achievements.

Haven't yet played Firefight but should be good fun!

Yeah I need to find the logs, need to complete half of it legendary, and need Firefight achieves.

It takes 45mins to an hour to get to 200K on Heroic, so I assume that with 4 players on Legendary Firefight it will be a lot less.

Me and my brother went through and beat it on Legendary this weekend. It wasn't all that hard (I thought), especially considering it was only the two of us. Now I must try and get the audio file achievements and some of the others including 200,000 point firefight ones. (gp)

Alright... I have a question about the scoring in FIREFIGHT. Me and my brother played this last night on normal. 1½ hours later we were beaten and came up 25,000 point short of the achievement!!!! Grrrrr... I'm a bit confused as to how the scoring works because as we were moving along I was keeping my eye on the scoring in the top right of the screen. According to that we were well passed 200,000 points, however, when we finished it said the total score was 176,000. I don't understand!!!! I was disappointment because I thought for sure we had the achievement. Can anyone explain the in game score meters compared to the actual score at the end??? Thanks.

Strawbs, you guys did score 176000.

The two scores you see weren't you and your brother.
The top score is a cumulative total of both (or 3 or 4 players) scores, and the lower one is your score alone. You only see the total and your own. He only sees the total and his own.

Only at the end do you see both scores side by side, as well as the total.

If you go to B.net and check your game history you'll see your score, your bro's and then the total for that game.

If you're still having trouble, drop it to normal difficulty and you should be able to get to 200K alone even.

I bought Halo Wars so I could download the mythic maps because i need it for Halo 3, I bought the regular version not knowing it only came in the Limited Edition, I can't take it back to the store because i already opened it but can I still download my maps because i bought Halo Wars?
