View Full Version : Racist shit heads on Live

Yeah yeah....big surprise, right? Homophobs and racists populate almost ANY online community so why should Live be any different, right?

Well, its one thing to get into a game with some random douche that want to preach hate, but what about when their Live ID/Gamertag is the problem in and of itself? Allow me to expand.

With the launch of Halo 3 beta, I've been honing my mad skills (ppfftt!) on Halo 2 again recently. I get into a game with some cock sucker with a name of, and I kid you not, all capital letters, no numbers and no beating around the bush.

I was going to write his shitty tag here, but I don't want to help this turd bag spread his hate further so I won't. Lets just say it was pretty explicite and was something along the lines of:

I KILL THE ****

WTF is that crap?!?!?!
There are filters for forums with regard to swearing and what not, Aren't there any filters for gamertags?

I'm not Jewish. I have some jewish friends. As a people, they are perhaps the most prosecuted around the world. We don't all need to agree on our fundamental beliefs, but we should never lose sight of the fact that we are all people who share this planet and there should be no room for hatred based on someone's religion/creed/race/whatever.

Hatered should be reserved for the ignorant.

Long story short, I felt complelled to call 1-800-4MY-XBOX.

I've never had to call them before. No hardware failures, no other complaints. And I hate to complain about pretty much anything, but this crossed the line. The lady on the other end was shocked to see that this guy was online and assured me that her supervisor would take care of the matter.

The next day, I did a search for the gamertag on xbox.com and guess what? He was gone.

Good ridance you hate filled little man. To be quite honest, I think people like that guy (hiding behind a gamertag to promote hate) should be brought out into public for all to see. You can't say that type of crap in the street or you'd be arrested. Why allow it online?

At the end of the day guys, maybe feedback doesn't work right away, but if you are particularly offended by something like this don't be hesitant to call MS. For all the crap people say about the company they truely are committed to giving us a clean place to play.

*whew* that was long....my fingers hurt.

Any thoughts people?

There's douche-bags in the world, deal with it. Mute button normally helps.

People love to hide behind the anonymity of the internet, whether to spread their hate messages or just to "flex", aiming to pick fights solely for the pleasure of it. How many of these kids would be too nervous to open their mouths if they were physically confronted with some of the people they choose to rail against online. The internet, though an often wonderful place, is often used as a means for little people to feel big.

This I cannot stand; when I enter rooms with racists I leave the room and give them a bad review so I can avoid playing with them. Something as agregious as the gamertag you mentioned above is definitely cause for more involved action.

You made the right call reporting the tag.

Let's all enjoy a friendly game of head-exploding Gears; that's just good, clean family fun.

thats just it Trig,
I'm not naeive (sp?!?!) to believe that there will be no racisim oline, but the fact remains that this guys name wasn't caught by Live in the first place.

I can gaurentee you that any game will have its fair share of retards and loud mouths out there. We can mute and mute and mute (and I usually do). However, when someone decides to take it upon themselves to BROADCAST stupidity like that it really pisses me off. You can't MUTE a gamertag dude.

If I walked around with a sign that says:
"I KILL ALL GERMANS" wouldn't you expect that someone would take matters into their own hands, or would they just walk by and say 'Ignore him'. On the street, those words would not be tolerated. Why should we just 'mute' them on live. Don't bring that crap to my living room without the option of turning you off.

There is no mute for a gamertag.

That being said, I'm not one to complain often. But this just took the cake.:-(

Long ago a guy also registered on the forum here, with a rather not subtle gamertag referring to the WW2 dictator's name whose name is in the forum censorlist since then. Apart from forcing a nickchange on him here I reported him to some contacts over at MS as well, and indeed he was also gone the next day.

Turned out in the subsequent private message discussion that he had had no idea what he was advocating, he just had the name because it sounded 'cool' and he knew it'd piss his parents off. Blame US education I say.

You definitely did the right thing, Mass. I generally try to ignore crap on Live, but things like that is just too much. Hopefully other racist idiots out there will hear about this and realize that they can't do stuff like that.

Good job that man.

That mute button is a total blessing it has to be said. I do hate to group people like this but on RB6:Vegas its almost exclusively americans using the N***** word again and again that makes me reach for that wonderful mute. And the Motto is another little spot that fills up with this stuff. Please Microsoft, at least offer filters for those of us who don't want to see it.

I take offence.
I call MS support line and the douche was banned next day.

I can understand your point. I hate to read long rambling shit online too, but the fact was that I was livid and I needed to vent.

read it. don't read it. Thats not my concern and I don't care. I just had to get it off my chest.

Totally agree with that. Its gets to the point that where its sad. I feel sorry for them since they feel that the only thing they can do is use derogatory terms just to boost their self-confidence...NOT cool.

See... Racist wanks like this need taken out the back and shot frankly... I understand that in the likes of the USA they have a constitutional right to free speech... but I think in todays society like I said they need strung up by the bollocks.

Its just not acceptable. Wether your black, white, asian, middle-eastern, christian, jewish, catholic etc etc etc... we are all humans made up to the same component parts.

Why Can't We All Just Get ALONG !???

Good on you getting that guy put down... He had it comming.

That's nothing to do with who your friend made, I'm afraid.

SDvRAW is programmed, for some reason, so that if you use certain things (even something as simple as certain bits of pattern) then your character can't be used online.

I can only assume they were scared people would make copyrighted characters and risk being sued or something.
