Basically what are your thoughts?

I for one think it looks pretty awesome but I'll probably wait for a review before getting it. Mainly, I want to see how well the 360 to PC connection works, because I'm not really feeling up for the headache that seems to be typical with the problems of something new like this.

In the UK the 360 version is £39.99 and the PC Windows Version is £29.99

If you bought the PC Version I guess you'd be able to play against friends that way as you still haven't got Xbox Live yet - have you?

The PC version opens up the xbox live dashboard in game I think...

Yeah there's been a lot of bad stuff said about this game, so I think quite a lot of people are waiting for the demo...Im not really 100% sure what the bad press is...all I know about the game is that it has some form of magic and you go along killing people...Im not sure if it's Vista Vs 360 or if everyones just mix n match on the same teams or solo - I really haven't the foggiest what the point or purpose is - but I haven't bought a game on release day in ages...not since R6:Vegas

The graphics arent anything to write home about.

The game play feels boring and uninspired.

The entire game feels gimmicky, as is combining 360 and pc gamers in AN FPS of all things.

If you just have to have every fps for the 360, sure, buy it. If you are looking for a gears of war, or halo3, or rainbow 6, look elsewhere.

ms is also pretty much throwing us all a big middle finger on the promise they made to keep first party games at 49.99. I'd not pay 29.99 for shadowrun.

I'm pretty sure Best Buy has it at $59.99 after $10 off (same as Forza). Check it out. I may be wrong.

I do not have a BestBuy, only Future Shop. I can get it from BestBuy, then pay $9.99 to ship it, so I save nothing. Future Shop will have it on special next week most likely.

Future Shop and BestBuy both used to have free or very low shipping prices. Heck, I had purchased my projector screen from BestBuy because they shipped it for $2, when everyone else wanted about $200 (it was 8 feet long).

OK, after having purchased Forza 2, Shadowrun and Mad Tracks, I have found myself playing Mad Tracks so that I beat each level and already bored, so I turned to Shadowrun...WOW..that game blew me away. It was a blast to play. Here is a super mini review, as I must sleep, to wake up in about 6 hours to go to the gym, then to work...

Graphics: Quite good. No GoW here, but way better than most X360 offerings

Sounds: It is a shooter, as far as that goes, sounds good.

Controls: This is where the game excels, the controls are all setout in easy to reach and use config. Since you must use teleportation, shooting, and various skills, all buttons are used, but also all fit easily on the control pad.

Offline play: The bots are good enough to blast you to bit, but polite enough not to tea bag you afterwards.

Online play: Too a while to get a game going. May just be not many players have picked it up yet. But once I got going, I got lost. I should have completed the tutorials to know each game type...ah wall.

Overall opinion: Best FPS so far on the X360. If you love Unreal Tournament, then go for it, if you did not like UT, then stay away..actualy avert your eveys from my mini-review, for it will BURN!!!

Bots are good practice, and are always available for a good session, witout you needed to wait for someone to play.

You can also set bots to play at your level.

It's actually quite hard. It reminds me of Halo 3 beta when everyone goes to the middle of the map and it's a big killing spree - except it's not that easy to see your own team. The magic in this is good, you earn money with kills, then at the start of every game you can buy magic and new weapons. You can only have 2 items of magic at one time and two weapons. You have to protect the 'artifact' which is a bit like capture the flag mode in other games...

This believe it or not is what a Tomb Raider multiplayer should look like.

I really should learn to part with games...I must have over 20 I don't bother with at all anymore. If I can sell most at £15 and some at £20 on ebay it'll be £300 - £400. I looked at them today now Im up to 30 games which I bought full retail price and some have been such a waste of money.

Again ShadowRun is a good game. For those without live, play against the bots to feel like what it is to play online...8)7

It's the weirdest shooting game ever because you can hover, fly, go though walls, use guns, sword, snipers, and lots of different magic and tech tools which changes things so much. It's pointless going online before you've done all the Training chapters because theres so much to learn you just can't know it all in the beginning.

Plus you can play as a Person, An Elf, A Dwarf, amongst others which also changes gameplay because each uses magic and Power differently. Dwarves can steal power from people and can't be sniped to the head by snipers for instance. The main objective is the 'artifact' which you have to capture first then guard it.

It's a typical shooter, but not one I could get bored with.

There's two game modes at the moment. But online I heard lots of people talking about update packs which Im hoping is true. The game needs more game modes, but the current two modes are really good enough anyway because of the different mix n match of weapon and magic usage.

For anyone undecided it is worth waiting for the Demo next week.

It's only cos there's no single player campaign I guess, but the shooting games I have I always play online multiplayer anyway. Well for some reason everyone knocks the game for lack of a single player, but that doesn't stop the likes of Unreal Tournament and Quake Arena and all that getting high marks, so I don't really see why it has changed here.

If you go into the game not expecting a single player, then the game should be rated for what it is, which is a multiplayer experience and nothing less. If you don't have Live you probably wouldn't look twice at the game, but for people with Live or for those who love Bots, then IMO this game is awesome.

Wait for Curry's definitive opinion though, he's reviewing ;)

Now with shadowrun...as with all games I enjoy I just wish I had less work stuff to do instead of having to play games midnight til 3am which seems my only free time lately....

ShadowRun is addictive and the maps are quite large. Even if this game had come with a single player campaign...the multiplayer is so good I wouldn't have played it.

Well you might have a point if you expanded on that sentence, but I think if you mean that as a criticism then you aren't doing Shadowrun enough justice.

Everyone I have spoken to on Live say "I love this game", "Best game on Live to date" and so on.

Plus I prefer the spells in Shadowrun than in Oblivion. I don't remember teleporting through a wall in Oblivion. Or having to TeaBag someone for an Achievement.

Winning Streak 10 (gp)
Win ten consecutive rounds.

Master Gardener 25 (gp)
Kill 5 enemies with Strangle.

Another secret achievement, apparently worth 100 (gp), is to kill the entire opponent's team in one round without taking any damage.

Theres a bot match after each tutorial as standard part of training.

As far as im aware its only live matches, no bot matches.

Out of interest, do all of the achievements have to be unlocked in "real" online play, or can you get them against bots?

You can get some with bots in non tutorial mode. The other cross-platform ones is only online

This game is excellent I fully recommend it. The reviews do not do it justice. If you approach it as intended, i.e not expecting a single player mode, its easily an 8 + scoring game. And, lets be honest, most single player modes are boring anyway IMHO.

I have to admit i really enjoy it I found my 1st 3 matches last nite quite hard and the learning curve slightly harder than most "normal" FPS but have got my eye in finally and i spent most of my games sitting pretty at the top of the leader board *rant*although finding the same people constantly shouting help me I'm down within the 1st 20 seconds was a bit annoying esp when u revive them and then he shoots u with a rocket launcher a few seconds later :@.... *rant over* its really fun and its always said its totally online which is fine for me although it would have been nice to have seen some of the game (i.e training levels) from the Lineage perspective

Lol the tutorials were piss easy, the ONLY problem i had was on tutorial 2, tried to load the bot mach up, cut me off as the game started, twice, so i didnt bother, played a bit of live, then came back to it, all in all the tutorials probably took no longer than an hour, but thats mostly taken up by standing there not being able to move listening to random RNA man chat to you... a LOT

Yeah i 2nd that, i didnt have to go through the tutorial another two times, FUCK THAT, it has the option to go straight to the bot matches, so seeing as they fucked up soon as the match started all i had to really do again was start the match up.

I'm still gonna wait for the demo. One thing I'm thinking is that if there are 6 training missions and a severe learning curve: how is the demo going to be? Are we gonna just be thrust into a match, is there going to be a simplified training? I guess I'll find out tomorrow!!!

The learning curve is not that severe, its mostly memorising stuff and learning how and when to use abilities/magic etc, you theoretically could just get thrown in and still enjoy it (to a certain extent) but it will be interesting to as how the demo works so that people are enticed enough by its depth etc. I reckon they will post the tutorials and maybe let people try it out vs bots over a limited time.......dunno.....??

yeah its not to bad just need to remeber and nice u can map ur skills over the Bumpers and left trigger, im stuck with the settings as they were in the training mode otherwise im throwing frags instead of teleporting which my team-mates love ;)

I play as an elf mostly I have the Left bumper preset at wired reflex, Right Bumper resurrect and the Left Trigger normally set with Teleport sometimes set with Tree of Life and use the Katana, I'm the dash attack/ get the Artifact and run ;)

The whole purpose of Shadowrun isn't for the game, The game is fun and all but it's literally an arcade game with some online enabled features..As far as i see it, its mainly for the purpose of testing that PC vs. Consle feature, thats all the game was built for, Sure i get my fun from it i enjoy it but people complain about "NO CAMPAIGN!" "NO STORY MODE!" "NOT ENOUGH FEATURES!". Go to hell! It's a test in Microsoft's abilities as a company, which makes me look forward to more and more progress following the PC Vs. Consle era.

I tend to be Human or Dwarf, SOMETIMES troll. the thigns i use most: Ressurect, Glider, Teleport, Tree of life, Smartlink. the main three used are Glider (rb) teleport(rt) and Smartlink (lb) i tend to just stick ressurect on LB when its needed, only takes a second when you get used to where everything is on the magic/tech menu

I think u might like it Trig it adds a nice twist on the FPS genre and its also a fun gimick u can play vista ppl too. And the Katana is quality the bleed out with the hidden strike i think its has a much better balance than the Energy sword.

I agree and I got my 360 mostly for online gaming. It's unfortunate that there are peeps out there who want to get online and play, but can't.

we should start like an xboxic "im too broke for live" XBL sponsorship orginization. set up a pay pal account and get members to donate for worthy applicants. people have to submit and application form and be frequent community users or something, and meet other requirements. haha, i actually think this wouldn't be a half bad idea. with the 100 or so people that are on this board frequently thats like $2 each from everyone and we get our money back in someways because then we can all play with that person online for a year. haha.

I finally bought into all the hype and was tired of all my old Halo-mates playing this "other" FPS and wanted to know what it was all aboot.

It's pretty cool, nifty, but not what I expected. In all honesty I didn't know what to expect, save for no single-player campaign.

I really need to learn the maps more, sometimes I have no idea where all the action is (no radar ftl) no idea what's going on. Sometimes the matchmaking throws me into a game that is halfway finished, or in progress (say lineage winning 4 to 2 and they put me on the RNA team) the UI doesn't seem very smooth. I just need more exposure methinks, so lets hit it up! calling all Euros!!!

I've been noticing that this game has fallen victim to boosters just as GeoW did.
Like Fannapy said earlier, I have people killin me then rezzin me, now that schools out, there are groups of little pissant kids that are running around trying to get the ninja achievement.
Just play the fucking game! the achievements will come in due time!
And why do they have options for map and gametype preferences if the matchmaking isn't going to search by them. I have a couple of maps turned off (either because they suck, or are over-run by boosting little twats) and the MM system will still put me into that game. And someone please tell me what the fuck is up with starting me in a game that is 5-2 and I am on the side with 2?

This game is plagued just as bad as GeoW and lately has been suffering from crippling latency, just like gears. oh well, Shadowrun... I WANTED to like you... :'(

I've clocked up about 5 Vista users now, the next achievement Im after is "Mine is the Superior Platform" (I think it's called that) where you need to kill 100 vista users

I know that's why Im trying to rack up 45 Vista gamertags on my friends list. The 5 I have already play a lot of party matches in private with all their Vista friends...plus Vista users dont seem to want to pay £5 a month or £40 a year for 'live gold' just to play shadowrun with xbox360 players, I think 'silver' allows vista to vista only. 5 down, 40 to go...lol (I'll get there)

Yeah course I will...but next time you play an organised match and I'm getting booted for shooting someone...remember I have no mic, and I can't hear a word of what someone is talking about through the tv properly...

I thought something was odd, when I was able to kill 2 people literally right after one another and no one was shooting back!

LOL yeah that was a good night well def invite me too cos i can get the bff and brother from another mother achievement yday i was in a match and got 21 resurrects lol crazy shame i have that achievement already well i mayb around 2nite my shift mayb cut short and 2morrowz cancelled they wanted to train me up for the whole managing/ cashing up procedures in a day (yeah right)

well hope u have fun i was just stuck in a room full of ppl who didnt talk I'm trying to calm myself down *rant* its very annoying when they ignore all the rez requests and advice i gave and i had to stop sniping and run and carry the flag with no back up 3 times i brought the game bak to win with no DAMN help*rant*

There really is nothing more annoying than someone giving advice in game! Usually upon startup I hear someone shout "all get rez, all get rez" usually I dont bother with rez at all, I have smartlink because Im sure my team would rather I couldn't revive than kill them all with a mini-gun, then I have both smoke & gust

Jay, you HAVE to get rez man, its the most important thing, its about team play too, its thinking for your team and not just yourself

i heard it was for a few lag issues and the untouchable achievement let me know what it is also who's about2moz for some matches????

The lag is still there though...people rushing past me 100 miles an hour, the artifact still looking at me when "Lineage Wins by Carrying the Artifact"

Did any of you guys listen to the Shadowrun interview on Major Nelson's podcast put up last Sunday?

It was a very honest and interesting interview, where he talks about the review scores that the game received. I agree with him on almost every point, and I'd recommend a listen if just for the interview (kicks in at around 30 minutes).
