To be totally honest and over opinionated... it's much easier to just post it in the forums that submit a news article so we can see it straight away and comment on it. I like yourself have usually read good stuff on digital spy sometimes many days before it is posted here - then when I see it here, I just get reminded of what I read a few days ago....

I'm getting tired of these rumors, stop getting everyone's hopes up, MGS4 is NOT COMING TO THE XBOX 360 AT THIS MOMENT regardless of what some fansite claims they have heard from the neighbor from their aunt who works at the company next to Konami's office. The link you just posted has Xbox Live Addicts as a source, they are nowhere near reputable enough to make a big announcement like this. Come back when IGN/Gamespot/1UP or another big reputable site posts it.

I hoped they would be as nice as Capcom who are releasing both versions of DMC 4 on day 1. But now that you've mentioned that AND reminded me that Capcom and Konami have very little in common (they're both Japanese :P), I agree with you on MGS 4 coming to the 360 at least a few months later than the PS3 version. That is, if a 360 version is in the works at all.

So it will(probably) only be released by late 08 early 09. PS Im so fucking tired of games going multiplatform as it limits the game in so many ways eg. dmc4, if it was planned to be released for only PS3 or 360 it can SO much better than it is currently looking.

I deeply disagree. Multiplatform titles might not mean jack shit to you (no offense ;))but to those who own only one of the two, it means the world. If you'd seen me when I read the news about DMC 4 coming to the 360, you would've understood me. I am SO, SO delighted that Capcom were smart enough to go multiplatform. And, I don't think the game would look any better, if it were still a PS3 exclusive. It's run on DR's engine from the very beginning which means there wouldn't be any room left over for drastic improvements.

True but that's exactly why MSG 4 is very likely to come out for the 360 as well. As we all know, Sony is facing massive financial problems, and though they understand the importance and vitalness of keeping the game a PS3 exclusive, they can do very little against the MS monolith ;).

Bad examples really, Microsoft published both Gears and PGR, Sony never published MGS. Which brings us to Bru's error as Konami isn't the developer. The game is being developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami. Hideo Kojima is the VP of Konami so it doesn't matter too much. Anyway, long story short; if Sony wants to make MGS exclusive they'll have to pay a shit load of money, more than they could afford to lose probably.

But none of that matters since MGS is far from an exclusive franchise. MGS1 was on PSX and Gamecube and MGS2 was on PS2 and Xbox. Both were timed exclusives for Sony but still. The only exclusive MGS title is MGS3 but Hideo Kojima said he had the choice to work on either an Xbox port of MGS3:S or MGS4. He obviously chose the latter. This time around production is a bit more expensive so I doubt he'd make the same choice again. Besides, Kojima said this would be his last MGS so the time-problem isn't there at all.

GTA was a timed exclusive, go take a look how many PS2s it sold. Timed exclusives are perhaps even better than real exclusives for publicity, as they highlight that the 'other ones' are getting it later. Not getting it at all is just no information.

With PSP and PS3 sales failing to meet Sony's high expectations, PS2 sales, which are going strong as ever, are the only reason for Sony still being in the game. Once PS2 nostalgia effect's over, Sony will have to rely solely on "the most powerful gaming console". As for PSP, there's no hope as DS's dominance and omnipresence is too great.

I'm on the same boat as you. For example, before DMC 4 was announced as a multiplatform title, I'd heard numerous gamers say they would buy a PS3 just so they could play it. That was because it was known as a real exclusive, and not a timed. I also think the average consumer would be willing to wait for it to be released on his/her console of choice, no matter how big the title.

As you already know, I know shit about game development; but I know it cost a shit-load more money than I have to make a game (and a lot more than previous generations) and these studios and publishers want to recoup as many of these costs as possible. The most obvious way is to get it on as many systems/consoles/computers.
But still that decision falls into the publisher's hands right?

I just know what names pop up when I start the game, and every MGS I've ever started up hits you with the big KONAMI in the begining.

Because that's what they are developing it for. Kojima never developed a MGS title for 2 consoles at the same time, the port would always come out later than the original.

The ONLY games I want on 360 are Kingdom Hearts 3 and God of War 3 and MGS 4. I wasn't too worried before, because I figured I would play it on one of my friends PS3's, but most of them have sold or are selling their PS3's. !!
