I got as far as chapter 9 and then my game save screwed up. I might drag it out of the cupboard and give it another go later. It's quite a good game actually... and I'm looking forward to seeing a sequel, hopefully it'll have better lighting.

The sequel is actually the reason why I decided to get this old game :). I've also played the demo and quite liked it. The only thing that concerns me is the melee combat gameplay which, I suspect, could get repetitive after a while.

I'm at the age where nasal hair is something that needs to be kept at bay so as far as Christmas gifts go it has to sit on top of the pile (All I actually got other than that was pants, socks, sweets and a dose of the runs so it's not too hard) and I've used it daily since... Obviously not the nasal hair trimmer, I would need to have the nostrils of a wookie to warrant a daily trim!! It's the kind of present you never think to ask for and look semi disappointed when you open it but hell is it handy!! :D

I bought myself an Onkyo 705 for christmas. A reciever that supports video switch, Dolby True HD, and DTS MA! I also bought 2 more speakers so I could have 7.1 sound. All that said, I discovered that there are only a handful of PS3 games with 7.1 sound, and I don't think 360 can support it? :( I think I jumped on the 7.1 bandwagon a few years to early. Ah well, whatcha gonna do? At least the LED on the volume nob of the reciever looks perdy :)

Im done with PDA's and Pocket PC's because they are not cool to pull out and answer the phone. Also they are heavier than ordinary phones and come in purse like cases... they look cooler and more gadgety than most phones, but I've had them for about 3 years now and changed to a basic Nokia whilst waiting for my Sony Ericsson K850i to arrive...(which it has now) and comes with 5 mega pixel camera also...its brilliant...all skype phone calls on it are free also....

I took out a contract for £15 a month with THREE because again my MDA is now a nuisance, great for emailing and text's, but too bulky looking now.

So I got my Asus Eee PC it was the black one not the white so I can be happy that it was black rather than the pink or green ;) it works really well but i need a notebook mouse for it the pad is pretty good even with its size :D all in all I am pretty darn happy its small and and I can increase the memory with SD cards!

Well yes it is like those things, but all the ones you mention bother me far less than mobile phones. I'm happy with my TV and surround sound, there's no need for an upgrade there, my laptop is fine as it is since I don't do PC gaming, my car gets me from A to B easily so that's fine, but fuck me, phones are something else. Probably my urge for gadgets I suppose.

Let me explain. Since Bleach buys nothing himself and doesn't understand the true value of money, his comment is obsolete on the basis of not understanding.

The iPhone is only available on o2 (like it's only available on AT&T I believe?). The iPhone is currently not available on Pay as You Go, but will be later in the year. I would assume that handset only buying will be ludicrous, but for now we can't tell.

So for now we have to pay monthly. This chart below sums up everything:

Currently I pay £30 a month for 1000 texts and 300-500 minutes (I forget how many), and my phone was free. Look at the iPhone, and you have to pay £99/£159 for the phone and receive a ludicrously low amount of texts and minutes. Admittedly data usage is free, but I rarely use that. Some may see that as a benefit, I personally don't. And if I were paying £45 a month, I'd expect unlimited texts and calls, which I'm sure most other networks do on other phones.

If you look at any other phone on the marketplace here in the UK you can get better deals. Now I like style, but personally I refuse to pay over the odds for a phone that at the end of the day isn't as great as people make out.

I'm sure some of you will argue that it's a great deal, but you're gunna have to really work hard to convince me of that.

But it's for work which leads me to a problem (only small) but want some opinions.

I wear a suit to work and the offices part where I work is open plan and pretty damn close to very wide doors which open and close a LOT!! - this time of year you can only imagine how cold it gets? My employer does provide branded fleeces which aren't allowed to be taken out of the building and they are shared amongst others when people are feeling cold.

There are 11 staff in my area and only 6 unwashed fleeces that smell of perfume and smoke. I do not want to wear a dirty unwashed stinking fleece that smells of perfume so I made an enquiry into buying their own branded fleeces that I can have to myself which i can wear and take home...

1: They will not allow me to buy a fleece from them when they order new.
2: They will not provide me with a clean one perfume free
3: They will not allow me to bring in my own unbranded black fleece as not part of uniform wear.

What would you say or respond with that?
I have bought my black fleece today and on Monday I am going in with it regardless. My only answer is that I want it in writing that they only want me to wear dirty fleeces that smell of perfume and even though I am a bloke, I still must wear fleeces stinking of perfume.

(they stink of perfume cos mostly women share them in work. - but they dont leave the building and my guess aint been washed sincle last winter either)

Also I am fighting against the point of being told I can't wear my own fleece) It's not as if wearing an unbranded fleece in front of my work colleagues mean they wont recognise me LOL - they are the only people I see !! Im going to just wear it on Monday and see how far it goes. At worst a written warning probably until I take it off.

Why can you only wear one t-shirt under a shirt? If I were you (and I have done this in the past), I would wear a long sleeved t-shirt on your chest, a short sleeved t-shirt on top then your shirt over that, plus the suit jacket.

And if you can't fit that on, I recommend buying slightly larger clothes specifically for the Winter (assuming you get bollocked for wearing the fleece).

Call them up and ask what your rights are, it would be completely confidential. You may even be able to get reimbursed for your fleece that you paid out on.

Score. I enjoy buildin' a puzzle now and again. And they look so much classier on your wall than a poster. Trouble is finding decent ones that fit your interests. There's an awful lot of Simpsons ones, the hardest I ever built was a 1000 pc photomosaic of homer w/ some beer cans... but I stopped liking the Simpsons in like 2001, long after they started sucking. The 3 puzzles I linked above are definitely new within the past year, because I looked for some music ones when I first moved out on my own and for the most part came up empty handed (i found a small, 500 pc one of the Pink Floyd Painted Ladies picture, which i now have glued together, but I can't find it online any more.).

There's some other cool ones now too, but I don't think I'm into the bands enough (they all rock, don't get me wrong) to hang them on my wall... AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix has a few sweet ones, Rolling Stones, I saw a Rush one...

I find the clay is much better as, with my hair at least, it gives it a more natural look but you can still define it as you please. The gum I find gives me "the wet look" but it's harder to style.

I hate my hair anyway as it annoys the fuck out of me. However I still religiously use the clay.

I got some big speakers in my apt. i dont have a sub though. I can generally keep them pretty loud and i've never had any complaints. it's the bass that comes through apt walls, not treble.

my neighbor plays her lesbian shit loud as fuck. it sucks when i have to listen to the entire album of Grease... in bass only. it's not so bad when she throws on Let It Be... but still gay. you can crank your shit if you just turn the bass down.

As for the HDTV crowd... the girl I'm dating bought a HDTV this week. I was looking
at http://www.hdcolumbus.net/ to find out when i'd be getting sci fi channel in HD (december 28!), and I started reading info about a QAM tuner. It's obvious once you learn about it: if local HD channels are required to broadcast 'free over the air', they also are obviously 'free' when you get basic cable too. But some cable providers (like Time Warner) attempt to mask these QAM HD channels. I think if you dont have a cable box, and you have time warner, you have to turn to channel like 78.2 for one HD channel, and 78.1 for the SD version of it. It's weird. They try and make you think you don't get HD w/ their basic package so you'll buy the box.

Turns out the girl i'm dating's tv has a QAM tuner. And Wide Open West is a little easier than Time Warner, as they broadcast the same channel ID's for their QAM channels as they would for a DVR box. So with her basic cable, she gets NBC / CBS / ABC / FOX / CW as HD channels free.

I duno. Sorta obvious in hindsight. But cool to learn about.

I'm not sure how TIVO works, is there a subscription? If there was a way for me to digitally record my shows still, without having a 130$ cable bill per month, i could consider dropping Showtime and HBO and then picking up some HD channels free.

Not sure how Tivo works but I seen it being used in a few american tv shows and it seems similar to what I recently signed up for. It's the On demand service which lets you record terrestrial channels and also lets you rent various types of tv shows either by paying for each episode or type of show.

It's pretty neat because I put it to record the whole series of Heroes and Sarah Chronicles and watch whenever I want to.Not sure if Tivo is the same but over here it is called BT Vision and fees are very cheap. I only got the tv shows package so only pay £5 something a month since I only really watch tv series. In the case that I want to rent a movie the most expensive it gets is like £4 something too for newer releases and it is all streaming so no waiting. The box is free too with a year's contract is which handy... :)

I was just trying to find a way to lower my cable bill.

Like if I had a Windows Media Center PC, couldn't i just stream basic cable into the computer, and use my PC as a DVR? At which point I could stream it to my 360 using the pc connect?

Apparently w/ basic cable I'd get the main HD channels i watch (i do occasionally watch discovery or something, Mythbusters is cool), and I could "DVR" them to my PC...

It would cut back the bulk of my cable bill, the $55.00 + $6.95 charge for the Digital package which gets me a cable box / 200+ channels, and then upgrades the default box to a DVR.

That device is a USB device I can plug into my laptop. It has a QAM tuner!
I could use that to make my laptop a DVR. Not sure what format it saves the files as, but I'm sure there's a way to make it work with windows media center and stream it into the 360.

Spend 140 now... save 60 a month on a cable bill... lose hbo and showtime and a plethora of HD channels i never watch..

But I also just gained Netflix xbox streaming...

meh....8900 has built in wi-fi. Screen is bigger on the Storm, but the resolution is the same (its gorgeous BTW) so it looks better on the 8900. Also, 8900 has expanded media centre playback options, namely, it supports most any/all .avi codecs. Considering I'm sitting on 400+Gb of .avi movies, documentaries and tv shows its worth it for me.

It's available on a few DLP TVs, and 2 Samsung Plasma TVs over here, I see it on the PS50A476 in UK.

You really don't hear all that much about because there is hardly any content: A few DVDs, PC games, and software to display regular DVDs in 3d (it doesn't do a great job) or still images.

There are actually a handful of 3d Technologies. One uses traditional red and blue lenses, one uses special monitors and polarized glasses - the one I'm looking at uses shutter lenses (your TV displays an image for your left eye, so the right shutter is blocked, then an image for the right eye and the left shutter is blocked).

Until there is more content released it is only a gimmick.

Some hope though:
- one company did tech demos of Stereo 3D (the name for all of this) using both the 360 and PS3
- Stereo 3D Blu-Ray Players may come out (a firmware update may allow the ps3 to play the discs as well).

TBH chris, I find that the browser on my 8900 is just as good as that on the iPhone. In fact, fidling around the other night, the Blackberry 8900 is loaded with Blackberry Internet borwser (never used this yet) Internet Explorer and even Firefox RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.

The screen can't compare. Resoltion is top notch on both, but its just so much bigger on the iPhone. Plus, my (broken) HTC Touch made me realize that I didn't hate touch screens. I kind of miss it sometimes.

@ Fanappy, are RIM Blackberry's even available to consumers on your side of the pond? I'm not being a dick, I really don't know. Just saying because I am really enjoying mine right now, and would suggest that you have a look.

Also, the camera on the iphone is only a 2MP, but when I take pictures they look much better than my 2.0mp old phone. I'm not really sure why though.

Yeah both T Mobile and 3 piggyback off other networks for their signal. So in periods of high usage, T Mobile and 3 lose out because Vodafone obviously take priority. I think 3 use o2's masts.

Silly system and it's why I would only ever go for one of the big three (o2, Vodafone and Orange).

Ah down this way the signal is fine everywhere. With the fact I also live rural, it's the strongest network in my village. With 3 I can only use my phone when hanging outside a window LOL... but with T-Mobile I know I can use it everywhere in the house and all around the 3 main areas I travel. Cornwall, Plymouth & Exeter.

I purchased these bad boys (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Remington-Precision-HC610-Designer-Clipper/dp/B0016729EQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=drugstore&qid=1230911047&sr=8-1), because I hate going to the hairdressers and with grade 7 (38mm), that would suit me fine (I normally have my hair hand-cut).

Oh no, what went wrong as it looks like you cut a bit too short in the first photo! Are you going to shave it all off to make it look the same? You look a lot different from what I had imaged too. As for actual advice I have never even used one of those so can't really say anything. :P

Also I can't do a grade 2 or even 3 all over, I have a funny shaped head and my ears would stick out far too much. The trimmers do have a white guard-like thing I can flick on and off, but I dunno if they are hair thinners or what. Does no-one shave their head here?!
