At the request of Nino, i've made this thread, for anything download related, for anyone else who may be going, been before or plans on going in the future, your thoughts on old festivals, how you imagen it to be and suchlike.
Myself? im disgustingly excited, this will be my 4th year at download, and though this is by far the worst line up out of any of the years i have been, (i only actually like about 6/7 bands, only about 4 enough to go see them again)
but its cool cause i'm going to be in a massive group with lots of people, and we're all going to be completely smashed to entire weekend:)

Already seen Slayer about 3 times now, so im cool, but i probably will, im only really there for Devil Driver, Stone Sour, Machine head, suppose i will watch Manson to laugh at him, i tend to see lots of "artists"/"bands" i hate at download, have a little look, laugh at them prancing about like a complete dick, then go find some fun. But yeah a couple more bands too, as i said, im more there for the constant beer and festival experience.


On the name, since the 80s the metal fesitval at donnington was the Monsters of Rock festival, though i think that stopped for a couple years and was replaced with Download, my only theory is around 2003 when download first came to be, the people who named/planned the festival wanted to be "hip" lol, they understood how most music nowadays is download, and there you go.

It's not a Straight Edge band though, just the singer and one of the guitar players. Their music isn't OMFG I WANT TO BUY ALL THEIR CDs awesome imo but I really enjoyed it live. Besides, it was at a New Found Glory concert and they were replacing Cute is What We Aim For (who canceled, thank god) so seeing them play there was extra nice.

Well thats half the point of them there is a festival in my home town in the summer befrore Reading/Leeds which is rank and I live literally down the road from the park and u get some really grubby Hippies :P, Download at least had some decent band Guildfest hasnt reached that status yet

Well, the times almost upon us again, Download is on its way, not an amazing lineup (http://www.downloadfestival.co.uk/lineup/index.aspx) again, but as i said before, its always worth it for the experience. I'm buying my ticket next week, hopefully getting a better camera to take some pics with, and NOT losing all my fucking money on the first day. I'm not goin as late as the friday this time, no gig the night before to get in my way, so i'll be gone from wednesday-monday. Anyone else gonna be going this year?

Three days now huh? I went to it in 2003 (first one if i remember correctly) and it was quality, there was all this hype about a 'secret' band playing in the tent in mid afternoon and it turned out to be Metallica, i'm not a fan of them, but holy jesus they rocked the shit out that place.

I would love to see Offspring again, its been more than 7 years since i saw them last but donnington is too much of a pain in the ass for me, going to see Lit at the Electric Ballroom on May 8th though! woooo!

Because I'm lazy and hate public transport! I will occasionally go to london by train to see bands, but nowhere near as much as I used to when I was 18/19.

I only went for the one day when the Deconstruction stage was there (Saturday I think) as the main stage held no interest really apart from LTJ, although I would have watched Limp Bizkit but they were replaced by Zwan, mainly went for NOFX and Strung Out.

Though i'm still gonna sneak in to see Rage and Slipknot

It has been a looooooong time since they were last over, think it might have been when i saw them in feb 2002 at the astoria 2/meanfiddler or whatever its called these days.

I doubt there will be great support, probably a couple of local bands as it is only one show and then they are off to support Kiss for a couple of nights in Germany

And you may not want to say your part of an alternative thing, as some people may get mixed up with alternative music, and people think emos listen to alternative music (When they don't really, alternative music varies) and say emo. But I take it Ross did it as a joke.

Any emos i see arnt all clad in black, where that came from i don't know, maybe London emos just don't wear blackmuch, dunno. People on average have no idea about social movements they arnt involved in.

Well, (again) the time is nearly upon us. Last year was a fucking shambles, and i promised if it looked anything like that this year i wouldn't go, but luckily, theres been some MAJOR fixes for download this year. The 45 minute walk last year had from camp site to arena has been cut to a 10 minute walk, and it looks like a fair amount of good bands are gonna be playing. Looks like its gonna kick the SHIT out of last year. Lets fucking hope so anyway...
