View Full Version : MySQL problems

With the massive linking currently to the Nipplegate article our MySQL was showing a nasty tendency to lock up even though the server load was well below traffic we've experienced before. Apparently even a P4-3Ghz almost solely dedicated to our site isn't always enough ;)

Frontpage is static for that single article until incoming traffic drops a bit, our apologies for the inconvenience.

For what it's worth server is completely stable and running effortless with the static news item. New template has been excluded as source of problems since I switched back to the old template rather quickly and that didn't solve it. Load is acceptable now so I'm probably switching back to dynamic again soon.

Scrap that, was just running dynamic and load went skyhigh again... something in MySQL goes wrong rather badly it appears and I cannot solve it right away. Perhaps I'll try again later.... :(

Blindingly simple and now feasible now the worst is over: only the Tomb Raider article is running static now, rest of the site is dynamic again at very acceptable loads.

Added hefty caching to the frontpage in some spaces and whole site is running dynamic again without a hitch in serverload.

Apart from the caching we've now also probably found the configuration problem that was causing MySQL to lock up. Rock on :)
