Take it with a bucket of salt, but http://worldofmi.com/ has some nice rumours about a new adventure for Guybrush Threepwood. Maybe episodic content like Sam & Max?? who knows.. I for one would really like to see this game. \o/\o/\o/
Why yes, according to Bruce of Rumor Reporter, it is, but not before 2008. Here's what he has to say on the matter, answering a question for a person named James:

James, the fifth Monkey Island is coming. I know some of the guys who worked on the music compositions for the original PC classics, and they say that it is currently being planned amidst rumors.

As with any rumour, apply salt generously.

There was a nice surprise in my inbox when I received some emails from Steve Purcell containing some paintings that is, in his own words, "in no way connected to any existing or canceled piratey project.." Make of that what you will, but the dead pirate guy sure looks familiar :) Enjoy!

Hmm I don't think I want to invest time in an old school adventure anymore.. but on the other hand.. I still play SCUMM games from time to time :P

I hope they do it and I hope they do it in 2D. Sucks that some of the key figures from the first MIs don't work at Lucasarts anymore :(. Not that that stopped MI3 from being awesome.
