I know it's a stupid question, and the answer's probably really obvious, but I don't want my 360 to automatically sign into MSN when I start it up (although signing into my gamertag is fine), but I can't seem to find an option to prevent this :(

I've had a LOT of people ask me this over the past few months... Is it really that hard to find? do people never change their motto? check up on their achievements and so on?

I couldn't care less about the achievements or mottos or whatever. I'm not even that into online gaming - I prefer a good single-player game to a reasonable multiplayer one.
I was just looking in the wrong places - I was trying to find an option in the system settings bit ;)

DO you guys know if you can see the email of people in your friends list as well or just on msn?
I havent tried it because I dont want to chat when I am trying to play a game without any interruptions :P

yeah just press A to look at their profile like you would one of your friends gamercards, if said person has msn and live, you will have to press Y on their gamercard, but you have to have both things added to see it, you cant say, have somone on live and see their msn info if you dont have their msn, and vice-versa

Anyone on your friend list with the Messenger logo, you can see their email address.
If they have a gamertag linked with their address, look at their gamer profile, then press the Y-button to see their messenger profile.

It shows the name you want displayed on your MSN settings, if the person has no xbox360 gamertag on your friends list.
If the person is already on your xbox contacts list and then you add their MSN addy later it shows their gamertag and then a | symbol...like this:
UK JAY | Jase
It doe show the email address when you click to view profile on your contacts list.

I thought you had to have the person added on live AND msn to see their msn stuff, so youre saying, seeing as you added me last night, assuming your msn is linked to your gamertag, i could check live, find you, and find out your msn account and add it? Thats SHIT for privacey.. MSN tends to be a lot more personal, like i mean a lot of random people on live tend to add me, someone i had like one game with and got on with or something, i dont really want them to know my msn stuff, yet i dont wanna decline their add if they were okay...

No you can't, you can only see my gamertag. If you added my MSN address you'd be able to see both.
