I download the demo, I install it...I press play, and the screen goes black like it can't execute.

Am I doing something wrong?

It's happening with folding@home too.

erm yes you probably are doing something wrong.

Usually, I download a demo, make it download in the background, then I install the demo and it usually appears on the games crossbar. I press down to select it, then press [x] to open it.

Have you done all the updates before doing the demo's? It's currently version 1.82

Are there any new demos? I'm playing Nucleus or something right now, it's pretty good and reminds me of Geometry wars VS Mutant Storm.

What's your PSN account thing Jayz0r?
You can add it in your profile (http://forum.xboxic.com/profile.php?do=editprofile) btw

Did the updates, have 1.82.

You download, it tells you to go to the games and install. I install it, and then when I press X to boot it up in the game crossbar, I get the PLAYSTATION 3 logo, and it just goes black, and stays black in the duck game, Ninja Gaiden, and Motorstorm Demo. (Plus the Folding@home). I guess the demos could be corrupt or something. I've been reading around that the 1.82 update has made some PS3s screwy. I even did a quick format of the HDD. I hope my PS3 isn't fucked.

I wish I could help...but other than display settings I dont know what else to suggest. If your PS3 can play retail games, it may not be fucked! but try re-downloading?

Maybe Rival can suggest something? He has 1 too doesn't he?

I don't put friends in my PS3, because Im hardly on it ! I just play once in awhile then abandon it for my 360

The only thing I can think of right now is your display settings, are you sure they're correct? I know it's a little far-fetched since your XMB works normally. You can also try a full format of your hard drive instead of the quick one although I have no idea if that'll wipe everything (quick one doesn't).

Hmm, if your PS3 is connected through HDMI it seems to me you’ve got a little “handshake” issue there. Maybe you should try to hook it up by component/composite. That way you’ll know if it’s a HDMI handshake problem soon enough.

Other than that, have you tried deleting the demo’s (by hitting the triangle button and choosing “delete” – obviously) and redownload/reinstall them?

I’ve read the Heavenly Sword demo is coming later this month. The more footage I see of that game the more I want it.
And if you think Nucleus is "pretty good" you should check out Stardust HD :9~.

edit;
it seems Ninja Theory has finished the demo;
Well, let me just tell you all that the dev team has finished work on the demo.. that's it... it's in the bag... so now it's a case of Sony deciding when they feel is the best time to release it to PlayStation Network.

Definitely liked the -out of the blue- demo. What an atmosphere !

Although it plays a whole lot better with auto-aim turned off I’m still having some doubts on the controls. But that won’t stop me from picking this one up tomorrow.

Yeah, I downloaded the 1.4gb demo, started it ..... remembered how awfully boring and annoying that car ride introduction was and deleted it again after just sitting in the car for like 1 minute tops :)

That does count as "trying" tho, right ? ^^

Make a jap account and get Folksoul and Bladestorm demos. Those are better than pretty much everything else (except HS).

Hmm I downloaded a few demos from there but I had no idea what I was doing, my Japanese isn't really that great. When I get the slightest feeling that I'm playing an RPG, it's byebye.

The first game was about a cat in a house or something but there was lots of talking involved so that was a waste of my time. The second game was about a guy that was dressed up really weird and had nerdy glasses. I was walking around in some grassy environment but again I had no idea what I was doing.

I think I'll just stick to demos from the European and US store :P

Language barrier ^^

I would stay away from most strange sounding titles because they most likely ARE strange (to us anyway). Folklore/Folksoul is probably the 2nd game you tried. It's somewhat action/rpg'ish, very colorfull and weird. Certainly a matter of taste. I liked it :)

Bladestorm is kinda N3 meets WiC on a Medieval 2 Total War scale with some very few rpg elements. I had no clue what I was doing until I figured out the tutorial and got to the real game where things became quite obvious and very fun :)

I'm downloading Bladestorm right now, better be worth it Voyagerman :P

Did I mention that almost all text is in japanese ? :) (*runs for cover*)

Anyway, what you need to do to get through the tutorial is fairly simple. Press X when it starts so the closest selectable group gets selected, run it into battle and kill some stuff (hold R1 and move around to fight, buttons are special moves for each unit type). This repeats 2-3 times, then the game requires you to change to diffrent units. Cavallery, archers .... you get the idea. Basically you need to make a few kills with the right unit type each round and that's it.

You can use this to your advantage and gain quite a few level ups by sticking with the infantry unit and just keep killing the respawn.

After the tutorial you end up in a tavern, pretty much everything there should be fairly obvious and you can get a contract and deploy.

Gametrailers has a few english trailers which show a lot of important translations so you might wanna have a look at them to understand what most buttons do in a fight. It does help :P

If you don't like it I'll let you shoot me in Resistance (but you get to be the ugly Chimera!).

Hehe, yea i managed to play it even before reading your tutorial (thanks for the effort though) but I'm afraid it's not really my kind of game. It runs pretty smooth even with all those units on screen and it also looks better than N3.

Play around some more with it. It grows on ya pretty quick once you get the hang of things and start to realize how much depth there is to everything. Once you level up your diffrent weapon skills, buy new equipment, recruit new squads etc. those battles become an addiction of the worst kind. It's almost sadistical to position your archers and lancers outside a castle entrance, then lure out the enemy cavallry right into your nice trap and watch them getting slaughtered :)

It's also pretty impressive to see just how big those battles are. Framerate does drop quite a bit when there are like 1000+ men fighting around you :)

Bladestorm is also announced for the 360 btw. So there might be a demo very soon too (hopefully english). Game is scheduled for release sometime late October I think. Definite purchase for me :)
