OK pretty soon you will stop playing your PS3 and realise that its just not the same!!! well thats what I did.
I wont even accept any friends requests on it...im hardly on my 360 at the moment so PS3 friends would think I'd have died

Yo dude, I'm StolenName. As it is hehe.

Resistance is actually pretty good online and it shouldn't take you too long to get the hang of it either :)

At the moment, there aren't too many good online games, MotorStorm and Resistance being the exceptions, but you'll find that the games that are a good number of single player games available.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma is a must but its gets bloody hard bloody quickly :|

ok ill add you next time i get on :), yeah warhawk will be the ultimate online game i mean 64 players is a lot for a console game and a lot of good single player games like heavenly sword LAIR ratchet and clank should be fun too.

Hopefully I'll be able to pick a PS3 this winter, but until then, I don't have any reason to do so. There aren't any worthwhile games coming out until Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, but those should be great.

I don't understand the reason for buying a PS3. So it's a blu-ray player. But... well, nevermind, I don't watch many movies so I guess I can't say anything lol.

Little Big Planet. That's a HUGE reason if you truly understand what these devs are trying to pull off. With the online community, with everything. Don't just look at a PS3 title as "Well Xbox 360 can do this, this and this.". Look at it for what it is and as what can be possible and achieved with it. Look at the bigger picture other than console party lines. Get over yourself, and get over any prejudice that you've got about the PS3. I've got both consoles, I love both consoles. I love playing Super Stardust HD and Motorstorm at the moment. I've only had it for two weeks now.

I do however like Xbox 360's UI for Marketplace crap better.

I want a hi-def movie player... $180 for an hd add-on or spend a little more and get access to some badass exclusive games. Yep, I'm buying a ps3 now. I have enough room in my heart to hate all 3 consoles this generation :)

Granted, there are some very cool things (HOME, Little Big Planet, Folding@home) that they are implementing into the PS3. That is no secret. And yes, it plays blu-ray too. But at its heart, a console is for gaming. While not qutie the lineup that many of us would like to see from Sony (yet) their library is growing. It seems though, that Sony have overpriced themselves, and 'forced' many gamers that want to be a part of THIS gen gaming to go to MS. They were out earlier, plus, they've been able to scoop up a host of former exclusives, and get a number of dev houses on their payroll now. This gen is almost two years in now, so we can assume approx. 3-4 more years before the next set of consoles come out.

I'm not a fanboy, so keep the flame cannons aimed down for a minute longer ladies.

I would like nothing more than to see all three consoles as a success, both in terms of customer satisfaction with the product, sales figures, and most important, software support. Competition isn't just good for the consumer, its good for the devs too. If company A's game does this, that and the other, then company B will make sure to include this, that and the other, plus that one extra thing. It will push them to continue to make great games. We all win with that.

If I had more time to game, I would buy a PS3 in addition to my 360. There is no sense in being blindly loyal to one company, unless you work for them or are trying to work for them. Otherwise, just buy and play what you want, and everyone else can go fuck themselves. Personally, while Little Big Planet and HOME are very cool sounding ideas, there is nothing else that excites me about the PS3 that I cannot get on my 360. Larger HDD. Who cares, that's why I have a laptop. Blu-Ray. Not until I can buy bootlegs at the asian mall for CHEAP. Bluetooth connectivity. Great, but I'll never send a file to/from my cell phone to my console.

I don't doubt that at some point the PS3'll have great games. But why buy it now when it's at this price? Just to have it before anyone else did?

I mean, buy it if you're a fanboy, no issues with that. I'm just saying why I'm not buying it.

Bying a ps3 now is a smart move considering the value you get with the starterpack in Europe. It won't get any better than this. Granted, not everyone likes Resistance and Motorstorm but most probably do.

Considering that Sony has finally a (small) lineup of AAA 1st party games coming it's not a bad time to buy a ps3 now. Especially if you know that it'll only be available until stock is sold out. Then there will be a new SKU with somewhat bigger HD, new rumble pad and no games and all for the same price. Considering the pure value this is almost a steal, even if the only games you'd play right now are Resistance and Motorstorm. There still is that excellent dvd upscaler and lets not forget about blueray.

So, from a purely economical point of view ... claiming that ppl who buy a ps3 now are fanboys who "just have to have it before everyone else" is pretty fanboyish in itself and comes simply down to smacktalking about the evil other console.

If there is only 1 game someone wants to play that justifies whatever that person is willing to spend for it. It's as simple as that and noone has the moral right to judge anyone for that.

3rd party games I'd recommend to get for the 360 until holiday season 2008 starts. But the 1st party stuff that Sony has coming now is quite nice and if you refuse to see/acknowledge that then it is YOu who is the fanboy and not those who buy the other system :)

With that beeing said, PSN download speeds pwnz0rize M$ lame ass downloads anytime :P (meh am s0ny f4nboyz n0wz)

@Voyager

Not only are those the only good games for it right now, but that deal's not available here. But ya' know, I'm not saying that you shouldn't get it. I just don't understand the need to have one of them when I'm sitting here with a 360 and already I have like... five games that I don't want to put down (I own six games (the Tiger Woods one was a joke)).

I bought a PS3 this past week, managed to get £75 off the usual retail of £350. Sure it came with no games, but I wanted it as a Blu-Ray player primarily anyway, so I was chuffed. Currently have Motorstorm, and I don't see myself buying anymore games until, well, I dunno actually. Maybe UT III.

My name is in my forum profile, over there <------

Hahaha, everyone is secretly buying PS3's now for the weirdest reasons :P

Reminds me of all the ppl who read Playboy "only because of the well written articles" .... yeah rite :)

Seriously, that thing is a beast of a console and pretty damn good in many not so obvious ways beyond gaming. It's a freakishly good DVD player now IF (!!) you have a 1080i/p HDTV. If you run at 720p or use component cables the scaler is RETARDED beyond imagination.

The mp3 player that comes with it is plain and simple the best mp3 player I have ever heard. I was amazed actually about how well it did considering that I usually refuse to listen to mp3 or any compressed format for that matter because they sound dull. But considering the compression the PS3 does a damn good job at reproducing the music.

And then, of course, there's games ..... granted, there are hardly any worth getting right now but .... there is Motorstorm and Resistance as well as a few PSN titles that are quite nice. Much more interesting is what's coming soon. Stuff like Lair, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Folklore, Bladestorm (omg, try the jap. demo ... that game is AWESOME once you figure out how to play) and so much more ....

To me buying a PS3 was like the introduction of Armageddon. The question is not wether it happens or not, it's just a matter of when. With that beeing said, the starter pack seemed like the perfect oportunity and I am fine with what I paid and what I got for it.

Setting up a bunch of PSN accounts was a major pita, tho. Especially the japanese one was teh mad suck. But just for Bladestorm it was so damn well worth it. I also took some time to compare the GRAW2 demo on ps3 with GRAW2 on the 360. If you know a few things about the specs of both consoles and game development technologies there are a lot of very interesting discoveries and implications to be found.

And yes, GRAW2 does suck beyond mad on PS3. The only good thing they did was using the motion sensor for sniper rifle aiming. That one feature simply rocks your nuts bongo style. But inferiority was to be expected from a port 360->PS3. Those will almost always kinda suck. Other way around will work much better. But why care about 3rd party games on a console that has the best 1st party developers working on it :)

Well you seem pretty passionate about the PS3, and good for you; your opinion, can't knock ya for it.

I'm a little less impressed thus far though. I was deeply upset that NO HD cables came in the bo, I thought the fuss was because there was no HDMI cable, so this was a huge disappointment.

I hate the interface; the 360 works much better for Marketplace content and general navigation.

Can't comment on the MP3 playback, haven't done that yet.

I do have a 1080i TV so when my HDMI cable arrives I look forward to it.

I'm not excited about any of the upcoming games for the PS3. The only one I might buy is UT III, since I love those games. I haven't played the Heavenly Sword demo yet though so I'll withhold judgment for now. I'll look into creating foreign accounts at some point.

But as I said, it is mainly for Blu-Ray movies. As a big fan of the 360's HD-DVD player, I felt I needed both sides of the battle to complete everything. And now I have, for a fraction of the RRP and no crap games included. I bought Motorstorm on the cheap which is pretty fun.

I'm generally happy with it though, I have the 360 for all my gaming needs, the PS3 can pick up the exclusive stuff so I don't miss anything (MGS 4, FF XIII etc).

I have to admit that the playstation Store itself could use some work, but in the rest of the XMB it's sooo much easier to navigate. I really can't stand the extremely slow "swoosh, swooosh" blades on my 360 anymore. If I want to download something there, I have to look at a whole bunch of those annoying things that come scrolling in from the side. It may look nice, but there's something called usability. I have about 30 trailers or so on my Playstation 3 and maybe 5 on my 360 thanks to this.

Yeah I agree with that. The playstation store is quite basic, it really is nothing more than a blue web page to me. Everything else is all quite easy to navigate. There was a moment when even looking at folding@home seemed interesting!!

Mine came with the HDMI cables as part of the package & when I see little big planet & Home I may get more into it. For games and DLC right now the 360 has more to offer people.

@Ross

I agree with most of what you said. I'm not passionate about it at all, just pointing out the obvious really. I don't care what the platform is as long as it gets the job done and the ps3 actually did surprise me in areas I didn't expect it to. You should really try HS and Bladestorm demos Ross. Both games are WAY off my "normal" taste but impressed me big time. I learned to keep a more open mind to genres I usually don't like with this hardware generation. I never liked shooters pre360 but now I do play some of them and enjoy them if they have good single player campaigns. Same reason why I gave Bladestorm a try and after working out the tutorial and controls I was really impressed with what came next.

Interface, usability .... lots of personal taste involved here. 360 and PS3 both have their strong points and a lot of weaknesses too. In general the PS3 interface seems to get most tasks done with much fewer "clicks" (button/dpad actions etc.) but it is more confusing than the well organized mediablades of the 360.

I also dislike the fact that you have to install demos before you can play them. 360 has me spoiled there, download and go. Installing a demo on the ps3 almost takes longer than downloading it.

Having both machines or none of 'em appears to be the path to true enlightenment :) If you only have one of them you will never be really happy :P

I don't regret having waited until now to buy it and I am happy that I bought it now with a good bunch of exclusives I am interested in coming "soon".

The 360 will be my "main gaming machine" for quite a while. Certainly till the 2008 holiday season. At that point we'll see how things look. PS3 is for those (mostly japanese) gems of Sony's 1st party legion of supreme developers :)

I have about 30 trailers or so on my Playstation 3 and maybe 5 on my 360 thanks to this.

Where did you find 30 trailers ? ^^

I tried the demo and I am actually considering a purchase. Most likely not gonna go through with it but me and considering such a game is like hell freezing over.

Meaning it's pretty, plays very well (imho better and easier than the old xbox version) and it has DOA style boobies :)

Try the demo if you're not certain. That's what demos are for after all :D
