Hey guys,
I set up WLM on the 360 right after that update was released (Spring Update, I think it was). Since then, I've had to change my Gamertag to Pegasus15. However, anytime I use WLM on the 360, it shows my messages as "OLD GAMERTAG: My message." I really wanna fix this, does anyone have any ideas?

Hmm, when a buddy of mine changed his gamertag, his old showed up for a while when I went to 'Compare Games' and such. You should probably wait it out, it'll change eventually.

Yeah I know someone else who done the same thing, it's a matter of just waiting it out. It can be weeks, but Im not exactly sure why it takes that long.

But it's fine everywhere else. It says Pegasus15 everywhere it should, with the exception of when using Windows Live Messenger.

With WLM on 360, you have to change your display name on the computer you originally made the account on for it to also change on 360, which I find absolutely ridiculous. I don't see why you cant just sign in with any account.

If not changed from the PC you used to sign up, it jsut has a later name, say i my MSN name is 'Chris', then i change it to 'Dave', then a little later change it back to 'Chris', when i sign into MSN on 360 it still comes up as 'Dave untill i change my msn name again, then it will goto 'Chris' over what i changed it to, its just late. Paul try changing your msn name a few times, see if that does anything.

It isn't that, I thought that too and tryed it and it didnt work, you need to change it on the PC you created the Windows Live ID on.

For Pauls problem it may not be right, but the whole "MSN names on 360 one changed behind" is right, it happens to me every time i'm on MSN on 360, always the last name i had over my current.

I've tried changing it. I changed it to Paul, to Pegasus15, to Paul and to Pegasus15 again before. I'll try it again later.
I know it's a long shot, but would recovering my Gamertag from Live and setting up WLM do the trick, do you reckon?

No I don't think it'll do the trick, but if it's that important to you just try it anyway. If it works - then at least you'll know how to help others...

Strange. I tried Chris' idea and changed my display name a few times right after each other, and it worked! Thanks man! _o_

Maybe it changed itself, while you were busy changing your display name? :+

did you change it quickly?
Yes, and while appearing offline. That's something I didn't do last time. It's all good now. Looks a lot better than what it was before.

Yeah but as i have said many times, i never use the computer i made my hotmail account on, yet i can still change my 360 name, so maybe to have it update straight away and the one you currently use maybe it does have to be tat one, but you can still change your name without the PC you created the account on.
