Just wanted to give you guys a headsup, I just saw this on a website. This is on of the most absurd Halo 3 deals I have seen. You can get this TV
($970 on amazon) plus a premium 360, a copy of Halo 3, and 1600 points for $1,085!! That is madness!!!
http://slickdeals.net/?permadeal=10287#direct_deal_10287
I know most everyone has a 360 but if one of your friends is about to jump in for Halo 3 let them know.
Edit: Upon more inspection buying any Samsung TV from best buy gets you $100.00 Gift Card at the NFL.com proshop. So add that to the deal as well. I am not usually a fan of best buy but wow. I am sure they would try and find a way to screw it up so use the web to order and just pick up at the store.

Sorry UKJay. I was all hyped last year to visit the US to get "great" deals. The reality is that US residents pay equal or sometimes even MORE for electronics and games that us lowly Canadians. The only real savings is in taxes.
For some strange reason, cars sold in the US (but made in Canada), are 25-40% cheaper in the US than in Canada. For example. I was looking at getting a new Jeep. The model I am interested in the the Wrangler Rubicon. The MSRP in Canada is $28,035 then add $3924 in taxes so my total would be about $32k . The US MSRP is $19,320 and another $966 for taxes. This is for the exact same Jeep. It is only a 3 hour drive to cross the border. Since the Canadian $ trades at 99.56 cents US at the moment, I could save over $10k for a half day drive, even after paying import fees. If I drive another 2 hours to New Hampshire, there is no taxes, so I would save even more.

$59.99 is the norm for a new title. You will see the random game drop for$39.99 but that is mostly titles like katamari and the like.

yea 720 p and 1080 i are exactly the same..1080i just takes the 720p lines and interlaces them making more lines for tv's that are farther away....if your wiothin like 2ft of yopur tv....720 p is fine..doesnt really make a difference tho...720 p to me is better

Well now, I would love you to tell that to an A/V junkie. It's wrong for the simple reason, that 720 lines is not the same as 1080 lines.

720p versus 1080i
Some broadcasters use 720p50/60 as their primary high-definition format; others use the 1080i standard. While 720p presents a complete 720 line frame to the viewer between 24 to 60 times each second (depending on the format), 1080i presents the picture as 50 or 60 partial 540 line "fields" per second (24 complete 1080-line fields, or "24p" is included in the ATSC standard though) which the human eye or a deinterlacer built into the display device must visually and temporally combine to build a 1080 line picture - in CRT type display. To get all 1080 interlaced lines to appear on the screen at the same time on a progressive high-definition display, the processor within the HD set has to weave together both 540-line segments to form the full-resolution frame. It does so by holding the first field in its memory, receiving the next field, then electronically knitting the two fields together. The combined fields are displayed at once as a complete 1080p frame. The main tradeoff between the two is that 1080i shows more detail than 720p for a stationary shot of a subject at the expense of a lower effective refresh rate and the introduction of interlace artifacts during motion.
In the USA, 720p is used by ABC, Fox Broadcasting Company and ESPN because the smoother image is desirable for fast-action sports telecasts, whereas 1080i is used by CBS, NBC, HBO and Discovery HD due to the crisper picture particularly in non-moving shots.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) recommends to its members to use 720p50 for emission with the possibility of 1080i50 on a programme-by-programme choice and 1080p50 as a future option.[2][3][4] The BBC is one of the EBU members transmitting in HDTV. It has not yet made a final decision on picture scanning format. Sveriges television in Sweden and Cyfra+ in Poland broadcast in 720p50. All other commercial European HDTV services so far use 1080i50.

Hey Thyron, a friend of mine in Canada told me the ollars are on par now. Any truth to this? I knew they were close, but not equal.

The dollar closed just below par at 99.86, but at one point in the day, our dollar was worth 1.00196 US dollar.

I have been talking about this for the past 3 weeks as we've been approaching parity. The saddest part is that its expected to take approx. 2 years for the prices of cars to be reflective of the 1:1 dollars. Its the same economic imbalance that sees gas prices rise dramatically and IMMEDIATELY after oil prices rise, yet take weeks to drop only pennies when oil drops.:?:?

apparently, there was cheering and celebrating on the currency trading floor. It was around 10:30 or so in the morning.
