do u mean modify ur current HDD or just remove it from the console???
I don't think anyones changed the actual components of the HDD but u could try.
I'm waiting for the 120 GB drops to less than a hundred before i contemplate buying it!!!

Yeah there is a way to do it, but you only can use the amount of up to 120GB even if you put in a 300GB HDD. Im not sure of all the tech details, but its only of use for people wanting a cheaper way to go from 20GB - 120GB. There is no way possible to allow anything higher than 120GB limit.

I would rather spend the money on a proper xbox hdd than run the chance of ruining my HDD and/ or xbox.

Most chances it wont ruin it. Most chances it wont recognize it as all Xbox hard drives have system files (abit like drivers) for the Xbox to recognize what it is and that it's legit (Thats why if you look on memory theres MS logo)
But, saying that, there is a way to do it.

I read where a forum member was going to do this. It was the guy who has the sick jeep with the 360 license plate. He had the idea of switching out the halo 3 drive with his elite case so the Halo console will be a 120. I really want to do the same as I have an elite in my projector room and a pro in my bedroom. I want the 120 for my room because I use it more often. I hope it is possible. If anyone comes across a guide please post.

Why dont you just use the elite on your bedroom? And im not sure about the size of the case of the 120 hard drive, but if they are the same it should be possible. Just need to open it up, take it out (as far as im aware I dont think there should be any fittings to the casing, as that wouldnt really serve a purpose. But, damage to the casing from opening it wouldnt go down well with MS.

I was thinking it was Thyron. Why didnt he not just say his name?
I might dabble into this bigger hard drive. Surely all you need to do is get the kernels and system files needed to run the hard drive as a legit MS one and it will work...

You called?
I did do the switch the hard drives between my Halo and Elite consoles. I did not want the 20GB drive that came with the Halo console, but I could not do a regular switch as the Halo console has the cool golden/orange chrome on it.
Thw switch was super easy. Under the hard drive, there are torx screws (one is hidden under a Microsoft sticker. Since you never send the hard drive in, I was not worried abou warrantee. Once the 4 screws have been removed, the main casing came right off. I never had to touch the drives themselves.
I did not try this with any outside drive, just one 20GB Xbox 360 HDD to another 120GB Xbox 360 HDD.
I can post pictures if you want
