The only reason I'd like to see some HALO 3 buzz, is to put a little smackdown on the PS3 camp... they are pissing me off once again... Don't get me wrong... I'm still going to pre-order 3 or 4 PS3's to put on ebay (and maybe keep one for myself) but I'm pretty disenchanted with them as a whole.

As gamers around the world have noticed, there has been a lot of "high quality rumours" running around on what game Blizzard will announce at WWI this year, reported on numerous sites, as well as N4G as well. Many are "sure" about Diablo 3, and most voices saying that a StarCraft MMO or new IP will come have been squelched.

The Blizzard splash image has also sent fans rampant with speculation on what it can mean, with vocal voices from all three of Blizzard's IPs. Everything from the WoW movie, Lich King-related, StarCraft or Diablo.

Diabloii.net, a 10 year running Diablo fansite, which (at least used to) have contacts inside Blizzard have now proclaimed that it IS indeed Diablo 3 that will be announced at WWI, and are taking questions from fans who would like them answered this weekend.

As much as I'd love Diablo III (and trust me ... I'd love it A LOT) it makes absolutely zero sense for Blizzard to release or even just announce D3 while WoW ist still going strong. D3 would hurt WoW subscriptions a lot, really a lot and that's just not gonna happen.

I could imagine some kind of other game set in the diablo theme tho. But d3 just isn't gonna happen for a very long time.

12 years ago a game was released by a company that made a name for itself with console titles such as Blackthorne or Rock'n Roll racing. The game was something entirely new and it had a large online component.

It was called Diablo and started the action rpg genre. It had zero hacking protection so all you needed to make your own hacks was some knowledge and most importantly SoftIce, a realtime pc debugger. It was an incredibly addictive game and many thousands became victims of this new drug.

A year or two after Sierra licensed the engine and released an addon which for the most part sucked balls.

4 Years after Diablo was launched, Blizzard released Diablo II in 2000 followed up by the Lords of Destruction expansion released in 2001. With those 2 titles , which are still strongly supported by Blizzard today (Patch 1.12a just came out a few days ago), Blizzard created the biggest "online drug" pre-wow.

Even today you can hit up any shop that sells computergames and buy a copy of Diablo II incl. the expansion for a couple bucks. And it's still a great game.

For years fans of the franchise have been literally chewing their nails of in wait of the announcement that was just made and there is zero doubt that Diablo III will be the next big thing to strike at the worlds spare human time after World of Warcraft.

So many games have tried to copy the success and the core gameplay of Diablo/II and they all just failed, entirely ... even tho there were some great games among the clones. Games like Sacred, Silverfall, that greek Mythology one (forgot the name) and countless other "click monsters to death games".

Even tho I know it'll probably be at least another 2 years before we see Diablo III in stores I am extremely excited about this. More so than I could be about anything else. If you know the franchise and have sucked up all the info and video goodness they threw at their fans yesterday you just know that D3 will redefine what "awesomeness" and "addictive" means.

And the really sad thing, after seeing the 20 minute gameplay video, is knowing that the quality Blizzard considers pre-alpha is something most developers will never reach in their finals builds of a game. Their QA is unbelievably solid.

The only thing I could be more excited about would be if they'd bring D3 to consoles but that ain't gonna happen even tho they actually did port the original Diablo to the PS1 and it was quite good.

I need to snap out of it .... I keep watching the stunning gameplay video ...

Normally I really can't stand RPGs, but Diablo is an exception. It's not a regular RPG though, 90% hack & slash, 10% bulshitty RPG sissy crap.
