I was considering getting a wii if it will upscale and/or deinterlace gamecube games and make them look like not utter shit on my tv. my 360 does a fine job of making xbox1 games presentable, i'm wondering if the wii will do the same.

FOR EXAMPLE, RE4 does not support progressive scan on the GCN. Will it look exactly the same on the wii, or is it prettier? BTW this will be through component HD cables on a 32" lcd.

Not sure. I bought a Wii for Wii games. I have played a couple GC games on it and from what I remember it looks pretty good.

Super Mario Galaxy is an awesome game. Try it out.

i'm not certain but i think the game had to support progressive scan on the GC, you're stuck with 480i, the wii won't di-interlace on its own. Hell, there are 480i Wii Games (rayman ravin rabbids for example).

I have a reciever that can force a source to upscale to 720p, the problem i had was that 480p on wii is 640x480p, i.e. a 4:3 resolution - so the picture my reciever sent to the TV was 4:3 and I couldn't find any way to stretch it to fill the screen... After that I turned off "forced" upscaling and stuck with the 480i/480p resolutions depending on the content.

god of war is fantastic, while i was waiting for my preorder, some idiot at game stop told me prince of persia plays similar to god of war, (already beat the demo at the time), so i listened to him and bought prince of persia:revelations, the game sucked.. its amazing how these games go from one extreme to another, there's no stability when it comes to the quality of the psp titles..
