I didn't see a SOCOM thread so I thought I would start one. I don't own a PS3 yet but hope to by summer time. I owned and loved playing SOCOM II and III online. I always wondered what was in store for the next generation SOCOM and I guess we will find out this year. Is anyone getting this game? :)

Socom III came out too late for me in the UK, there was some ridiculous delay between US and EU release, however Socom II was brilliant. I didn't make much progress in the SP because of the fantastic multiplayer. Made some online buddies (yes, nerdish I am aware of that) and had some fantastic nights, like UK vs. foreigners etc.

I actually haven't had such an awesome experience in an online game since. The games have got better, but the community hasn't ever been matched in my opinion.

I loved Socom 2 and 3. Barely remember playing them now (all seems like a blur. so many games, so little time xD) but the new one from what i've heard sounds ace. And it's coming out in September I read... I think.

I'm looking forward to seeing this game in action. I'll keep my eye out for previews and reviews closer to release time. It's going to get some serious hype building up to the release. We'll see if it comes through for all the SOCOM fans out there.

Getting closer and closer to Sept! I can't wait for this game. I'm having a hard time find other gamers as excited as me :'( I know there is a huge SOCOM fan base out there, maybe just not too many here at Xboxic...:) I'll be the loaner, the rebel! SOCOM !!!!!!!\o/

remember the crazy celebration dances you could do over enemy bodies in Socom II? LOL! that shit was funny because every once and awhile someone would get cocky when they took someone down and start to dance on the body... then get blasted by an enemy. LOL

I had the first socom on the ps2, got it mainly to see what the headset was about but got stuck in the jungle level(one where you start in a jungle and then progress to some ruins, well that's how it is in my memory anyway) so went back to ghost recon instead.

Hopefully there'll be a demo for this as i'd like to try it out

yea i had a ps2 and had 1 2 and 3 but i recently got a ps3 so i pre ordered the 4th one...confrontation....even tho its only online....then again...who really played the single player...i know i only played online

I was at work when Eurogamer were giving this away, which sucked. They've apparently asked Sony for more keys, so I'm still hopeful.

I got a BETA code Sat morning from a friend. I played the BETA all weekend. I friggin love it.. it really reminds me of Socom 2. The issues in the BETA are occasional lag and extremely long load times into the game. I've also experienced some network disconnects but this is all expected in a BETA. As long as they address the problems before release I'll be very happy with this game. :)

Socom won't be for everyone, I'm sure some people won't like it for certain reasons but for those that like the Socom style game play and control schemes it will be a home run.8)

New patch is out. Seems to help with the accuracy of the weapons and the load time into games is improved but I still get some laggy games here and there, plus some lock ups. But over all I love this game.

ps. I think I'm talking to myself in this thread but that's okay... I'll keep everyone up to date on everything Socom C.

SOCOM Confrontation Public Beta Extended

Early next week, we will be releasing the SOCOM Confrontation Public Beta 1.50 Patch. In order to have ample time to test it, we are extending the Public Beta until midnight PDT Thursday, October 9th. We will have more details on the patch itself soon.

We are using these extra few days to test the patch but we are still on schedule to release in North America on October 14th. We appreciate all of your feedback and hope you have been enjoying the Public Beta.

Was hoping Gamestop would have had mine yesterday but no luck. I had to sleep thinking and dreaming of Socom. But here we are... Wed morning and all I have to do is get through ONE MORE DAY. Gamestop called last night to confirm my game pick up today(wed). I haven't heard much online about the game but I know some people got it yesterday, finding it in Targets, Walmart, etc. If anyone plays it today let me know what you think.

yea, I don't see any reviews either. Maybe review sites were not able to get pre-screening copies of the game early... maybe because it's online only? I don't know.. I just know that I'm gonna love it and I'm leaving in 40 minutes to get my copy!!!!

Has anyone played Socom yet? They finally fixed the server issue and I was able to play all weekend. In my opinion, it is classic Socom at it's finest. I'm having a lot of fun with it and can't wait to play it more over the course of the fall and winter. The head set is fantastic! fits and feels great, sounds great. With only 7 maps I feel they could have put a few more in but I'm sure there will be DLC coming down the pipe. This game is all about communication and team work so be prepared to chat it up.

It's pretty good so far, Feels like you have to put in a lot of time to learn the maps, and cross your fingers that you're on a talkative server (without too many people singing or doing other stupid stuff).

It's kind of annoying getting stuck on 1 foot high curbs though. on one map i fell off some stairs and was stuck for a long time until I realized i could go over the curb backwards. Also, the install was annoying: Install, download patch, install patch, delete save file... OK you may play now :P

Anyways...

yep, kind of a shame for an online only game. if you can't connect you can't really do much :(

A teamwork game like this would really benefit from a party system ala Halo or Call of Duty but I think they're dev talents were coming too fresh off the ps2.

I've been playing more and more and I love it. The more I play the better I get. The servers seem to be much better. The reviews are not doing this game justice, but then again I am a hardcore SOCOM fan.

I know I'm bias because I'm hardcore into SOCOM, but I think if you keep an open mind you can really get into it. They already spoke about the next patch and there are even more additions and tweaks coming.

Did the UK get SOCOM yet? I've been so busy with little big planet and gears of war 2, but I finally jumped back into my beloved SOCOM world for several hours last night. It's getting better and better as the days move on. Each patch that comes out makes it that much better. I'm starting to wonder when we can expect some new maps. The remake maps(socom2) are nice to have but I'm looking for some new stuff now.

Apparently it's slipped into 2009. This happens with every fucking SOCOM game, we get it like nine months after or something stupid.

Might have been a necessary decision if they are having problems with the servers, maybe they just can't handle more people right now and they'd rather wait for a wider release until they have fixed a few issues.

i love the headset. Well worth that plus the game. If your new to Socom it might take some adjusting to the game style and game play. Me being a Socomer, I love it!

I've been waiting for a reason to go back to Socom and they just released the very anticipated 1.50 patch with tons of additions, fixes, and improvements. I downloaded it this morning without a problem, but could not log into the servers. WTF!!! Can they get anything right??? geeez.
