I know there were a few comments (http://www.xboxic.com/news/891) when the demo was first released, but what are people's impressions on this now?

Personally I'm really, really enjoying the demo, particularly the online side. PGR3 online can be quite frustrating because aggressive racers can just knock you into a spin and wreck your race, but when you're on bikes then any collision will affect you badly too, so it's in everyone's best interests to avoid crashes. I've had some great races, and in almost every single case, the player with the most skill has come out on top.

There are a few dodgy textures here and there (the road surface looks particularly underwhelming at the moment) but there's a few weeks to fix them yet before the game is released at the end of June. Moto GP has gone straight onto my shopping list (just after Table Tennis; the in-game footage from E3 is pretty impressive).

Yeah, not too bad. I must say, I only play the extreme 1,200 (I think it's that class on the demo?) city racing, that's a whole lot better, and on a HDTV, the road doesn't look that bad. Not sure I will buy it though, too much of the same.

I played the demo, and it's "a nice game" but i won't prefer it above any other race game. And just like the comments said the demo was way to glitchy. (just like the testdrive demo)

For me personally this game’s a no-brainer. Had so much fun with it’s predecessors that I can’t let this next-gen edition slip through my grubby little hands. Even though the demo has it’s flaws (vsync issues, framedrops, AA) I’m convinced that what we’ve played so far was a very rough build of the final game. Especially when reading through the hands-on preview by TeamXbox (http://previews.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/1334/MotoGP-06/p1/) it’s clear to me that they’ve witnessed a totally different game:

What really separates MotoGP ‘06 from previous-gen versions are the visual and aural enhancements. We know that moving to a 1080 format guarantees some graphical improvements, but Climax’s ground-up restoration goes far beyond the norm. Our playtest build sported a super-high framerate at all times, all while boasting graphics that are simply divine. In game action looks rather real. Shift to the replays- featuring additional post-production effects- and prepare to be startled. You’d swear you were watching a real GP contest if you squint your eyes just right. MotoGP ‘06 is by far the best looking racing game to date for the Xbox 360, and we expect it to look as good if not better when it ships on June 14th.

Damn, can’t wait to play the full version. Until then I’ll just have to drool some more on the screenies that are thrown at us, play the demo, and fire up my own FireBlade 900RR for some good ol’ road rage >:)

I downloaded the demo, having not played any game in the series since the original game. Initially, I was frustrated as could be at how to lean the bike and set up the cornering... But once you invest the time to really study the track(s) and get to know the braking and how the bike reacts, pure joy. I've been addicted to this demo ever since. Needless to say, this game is an immediate purchase.

I've even created my own racing circuit for some of the guys on my gaming website. (Don't fret, I won't be spamming it around here, I promise.) I just love this game and what it brings to the table gameplay wise.

Someone already said it, you can't just go slamming into guys without their being penalties involved. You really roll the dice when you force contact on the track. You're just as likely to take yourself down as you are the rider infront of you. Add to that the time penalties for going off of the course and the adjusted times really give you an accurate picture of who knows what they are doing.

Just a great, great game. If the graphics are much improved from the demo, splendid. If not, so be it. This game has the gameplay in spades. Solid purchase for me personally.

Hi Guys I run Xboxliveaddicts.co.uk and we and the developers are very interested in what you think of the demo and what you would like to see in future MotoGP's if you could pop over here (http://www.xboxliveaddicts.co.uk/forums/index.php?showforum=191)
and give us your views it would be very much appreated.
Should you forget the address you can find us on motogpthegame.com, which is on the demo.
We also have some cool demo videos and walkthroughs from the top riders.
You even have a chance to speak to the developers in the forum :)

Slightly completely offtopic: since you're Japanese and own a 360, what do you perceive as the general opinion of the Japanese market towards the Xbox 360?

I really do enjoy the game. Its taken a while to get the skin grafts done now since most of my stomach has been stretched out across several of the corners. I think one of my legs is in the stadium somewhere. But since the healing has taken effect, I've gotten much better at the handling of the bike and the game is a joy to play. My clan and I are really looking forward to racing each-other online coming this friday. Cant wait!

Does anybody have a set release date on this game?

I hear that England will get the game on the 9th. Holland websites state the 23rd of June.

Is this the final answer or are the Dutch sites misinformed?

Shiverzz
June 4th, 2006, 23:56
Yup, the game is actually released two weeks earlier than initially planned. Sure hope they had enough time to even out the flaws of the demo though.

So it does seem like the release info on those Dutch gaming sites isn’t up to date (but hey, what else is new). I’m not taking any chances on this one and placed my order at play.com :)

Well, i'm an American living and working in Japan. So my opinion doesn't tell the entire story of the 360 over here. But, i will say that I can't honestly blame them for not just rushing out to get one over here. The one thing that eludes all the forums and gaming sites when trying to explain this is the quality of titles out for the system here. They just aren't on the shelves to buy.

Granted, 99 Nights and Enchanted Arms just released. That will help, but they don't really have a big name franchise out over here to push the systems like Halo did. And FPS are not trendy in Japan. It's mainly about the RPG's and they like them in mass quantity. I think i read an article the other day that the trade in value for an XBOX 360 at a trade in shop fell to the same amount people are getting for trading in their Nintendo DS and Sony PSP's. 8)7

And sorry for such a late reply. I decided to take a dive into learning PHP and MySQL for my gaming site so i can do more with my leagues and i haven't been checking the sites lately.

---------------

And not to plug my own dealio, but i do have a moto gp league in the works. I'm currently trying to build the admin pages and league pages for standings, rider bio pages, course info, etc... But it's a small, single 16 member league and i've got 5 spots left. I think all of the people currently sign up for it are all Americans, so i completely understand if you want to avoid that, lol. But feel free to drop me a private message if you are interested. I don't want to advertise (spam) on the forums without prior permission, so i won't post the site url or anything.

You consider that to be a bad thing?..

Every decent successor to a (race)game somehow always stays loyal to their roots, don't you think ;)

If you want a laugh, try the first person view and then try to drive a straight line. I couldn't do it :? I was going from left to right etc etc and could not get it to go simply forward.. I believe 'wiggle' is the word to describe it..

Sadly, I do that in third-person view a lot too :(

I'm OK going thru corners, the only time I fall off is if I lose it when I'm on a straight :(

Had a phonecall with DimensionPlus about a week ago, and they to expected to have the game in stock on the 16th. Yesterday they sent me an e-mail that it would be available the 14th. So unfortunately you'll have to be a bit more patient if you wanna buy it in Holland. Or just place an order at play.com...

Anyway, my gf just called that a package from the UK came in....wonder what that may be :9~

I heard from friends who played the game all day that it blows

"it lags, the handling is very poor, sense of speed not there"

and that the Demo is actually better. Any comments on this?

Played the game for about two hours now, and I have to be honest in telling you that it’s not exactly what I’ve hoped for (at least I won’t be trusting those hands-on previews by Teamxbox anymore :X ). Framerate-/image tearing issues still remain in the final game, especially in slow corners and bad weather conditions, although it’s not worse than the demo (actually the demo is a good representation of the full version). Talking about the bad weather conditions, heavy downpour looks absolutely ridiculous; it’s like your driving on a mirror, the whole environment if fully reflected into the asphalt and there’s no sign of any spray effects at the rear wheel of your bike.

So do I regret buying this game?….definitely not :) !! Gameplay must be the biggest asset of this game, and there’s tons of it. Handling is brilliant (when you get used to it), and of course you’ll get better at it as you learn the (34!!) tracks by heart. To me powersliding must be the most addicting feature in this game. There’s nothing like sliding through a tight corner, hitting the apex and overtake your opponent who’ve you been chasing for three laps…I never get tired of that.

So my verdict on MotoGP’06 is that the actual feeling of driving GP bikes is definitely there. If you can look beyond the flaws described above and you’re into racing fast bikes you gonna have a blast with this one. But there’s definitely a LOT of room for improvement on MotoGP’07.

You guys are killing me with the hands on impressions, but keep em coming. The game just came out in the states today and i've got to wait about another week for it to reach me here in Japan. (Friend of mine is shipping the game to me.) This is killing me!

The impressions of the game from everyone have been hit and miss. Some guys are in for the long haul like Shiverzz was saying with the gameplay. But several guys have bailed on me in my Moto GP league already saying that the final game just didn't impress them enough to carry on with it. Oh well, i'm new to the series practically so as long as it looks as good and plays as good as the demo, it's a keeper for me.

Oh and anyone that wants to get their money out of the title, give me a shout if you'd like to join up. Obviously a few spots are available, lol.......

You won't be able to tell from my game list - I haven't been able to get online for the past week, damn broadband broken - but I'm now rather severely hooked on Moto GP.

Played through my first MotoGP season on Easy, seemed to drag a bit, won every single race... but then it got good 8) The Extreme-series races are much more fun, mostly city circuits, and I've jumped straight up to Champion difficulty, which is much more challenging.

In fact I've even put off buying Prey for a while, because I'm having too much fun with Moto GP. Plus the fact that Prey's quite average, obviously ;)

Same here but, as soon as I beat the 1200 extreme Chapionship(and was seed 33). My 360(?)corrupted my data and now I have to start all over again.

Played it yesterday beat novice gp, 600, 1000,and middle of 1200, and lost all of it again. This is starting to piss me off, I have baught a $60 game and cant even finish the damn thing.

I called xbox but they say it the disk but the same disk works fine in my roomates 360. ANybody run across this before. I thought it was my hard drive but this is the only game this has happened on.

Bummer!! I know how you feel...had the same issue with PGR3. First time my savegame was corrupted and shortly after my entire gamerprofile went corrupt. Luckily I was able to regain every single gamesave (with a mem card) except for the PGR3 file. Good thing I have lots of love for the game, otherwise the disc would have been added to the toy collection of Max (our German sheppard).

Gotta say that I haven't had any problems since I've started the game from scratch for the third time with my newly recovered gamertag (roughly 6 months ago). How's that for replay value :P

Anyone up for an Xboxic MotoGP GetTogether? :)

I kinda gave up on MP a while ago since I always seem to end up in a lobby with 12-year-olds who think they're playing road rash |:(

Finally there’s an update available which fixes the annoying bug of locking up your system while viewing you friends best times or gazing at the leaderboards.

At the moment there doesn’t seem to be any official linkage (nor from THQ nor Climax) of the patch actually being released, but I can assure you ….it is ;) .
