I'm trying to get some feedback on the wireless adapter. Who has it? And how well does it work? And can you connect to a windows based pc with it to access your computer for music and pics if your pc is wireless? Thanks guys!

I don't have one, but Nino and Curry (also on this forum) do have one. With a wireless network adapter you can do exactly the same things as with the built in ethernet card. So yes, you can connect to a windows based pc and share music and pics.

No I don't. My PC is on wireless and my Xbox360 is wired to that PC. Curry has the official Xbox 360 wireless adapter.

The wireless adapter works flawlessly and has great reception at 10m and 3 walls distance from my Linksys WRT54G. Just plug it in, add your SSID and network keys as required (works on WPA/WEP), and you're good to go. Flawless multiplayer at that distance even with PDZ, DoA4 has been laggy but considering I've also had lagless games I don't think it was my connection.

Verdict: Expensive, but you get what you pay for :)

Curry didn't have any lag at all, he lost 15 times in a row and blamed it on the lag :+ You should ask Nino about this ;)

Curry

As a matter of fact I've only had horrible lag against Nino and he didn't have the MS sanctioned WLAN adapter :P

He won 5 out of 6 if I recall correctly but somehow people always overestimate their achievements when bragging to others ;)

I didn't consider it all that bad if you realize my last fighting game was Street Fighter II on the SNES and Nino played DOA3 and DOAX to shreds before :D

But still, you need to clean you're game up dude>:). 5 out of 6 is still bad, dude i hadn't played a fighting game in years, and i am still good at Dead or Alive 4. Dude maybe we can play sometime, you know my Gamertag(Considering is in my information screen);)

You go try on Nino for size first then :P

Don't think Chicago will be playable on DoA4 anyway regrettably, that game really requires the lowest of pings :)

I play online almost every night with 3 people from Plymouth (in the UK) and 1 guy from the USA and It almost never lags.

not that it matters if you are as crap at it as I am ;)

I've had good games with Swedish and British people as well, so it seems it's rather forgiving indeed :)

The only difference between wired and wireless with the wireless network adaptor for me is the download speed, it's a little faster on the wired connection (1 mb/s) then the wireless (300 kb/s), oh well, i can wait for that demo to download once in a while ;)

No lag here (yeah, on CoD sometimes, but thats normal), great thing allthough it was kinda expensive :)

And supposedly background downloading will be in the next dashboard update :)

No that was people creatively interpreting the news, perceiving what they wanted to see as what was going to be delivered :)

30 meters is quite a bit to get a good stable connection actually. Got any stone or concrete walls in between?

i meant to say 30 feets..thanx4 letting me know..got two concrete walls between router n 360..it never drops signals...

Curry

Ah k 30ft and 2 concrete walls is indeed no problem :) 30 meters shouldn't be a real problem either in a wooden house or with only brick walls, if you got concrete I'd expect a low signal though :)

I too was thinking about the wireless adaptor. I just ordered a 360 two nights ago... will arrive mid December. Got it for $60 off.

My good TV is downstairs while my modem is upstairs. About 10 - 15 feet stright line just through one floor/ceiling. I've read really good things about the adaptor.

Yeah the adapter is really really brilliant. I used to play with a big yellow wire attached to my laptop which was just awful to be honest. Now with the wireless adapter, yes it connects to your pc to view pics and listen to any stored music and now you can stream video's. Its ace. You only have to plug it into the console and enter your security code from your wirleless router and everything is then done!

It's top quality, even though my cat managed to eat through the USB cable of mine 2 days ago :X

Wasn't the quality tho, she just was persistent :(

I'm gonna grab one after Xmas because I'm gonna move the HDTV upstairs into the bedroom, so the 360 will have to move too.

It's pretty expensive in the UK (RRP £59.99) but I got a voucher through the post from GAME which makes it £44.99, a bit more bearable.

sarcasme, the sauce of life.......

but seriously why wouldend it work?

Rival24
November 29th, 2006, 13:53
Microsoft isn't entirely stupid, they want to make money off of accessories. Besides, many of those dongles require specific drivers and shit. You wouldn't be able to include all of those in the Xbox 360 anyway.

i agree partially, :P.

I think that a dongle, that doesnt requires any software installation on a XP box, should work.

ps: ill even put my money where my mouth is, i'm buying a wireless router with a dongle and then i will check it. ;-)

Oh they could. MS just prefers to milk a 100% profit rate on all accessories, and who's to blame them :)

You mean the red light in the dashboard next to 'Act'? The one that means 'not enough signal'? ;)
