Also the price is kind of a shock i guess :)

offtopic: A friend was at my house fixing xgl linux, and i tuned in on gamespot to watch it. We were joking about the price, he came up with twice the price of current gen consoles, which would be 600 dollars. And i said, "well seems reasonable to me". Then about 30 minutes after they said on the conference 599.
I'd rather have him say that it could be 300 dollars :( But life does not come cheap.




Btw, does anyone have a link for the microsoft press conference, because by accident i missed it.?

Actually, Microsoft introduced the Type-S while the Duke was still on the market, but for the Japanese market to cater for their smaller hands. Consequently the Type-S was imported massively from Japan because Western people also liked it, and then it was adopted as the standard Xbox controller. The 360 controller is an evolution of what they learnt from the Duke, the Type-S and the PS2 Dual Shock.

The PSX (=PS2+satallite receiver, dvd burner, hdd recorder, media center, etc), had the cross media bar, XMB. The psp had also.
The XMB can be accesed through the home button, at any moment.
Watching anime, listening music, playing games, browsing internet, any moment.

The thing on the PS3 controller gives access the XMB. Also this button was on the 2005 e3 prototype.
So they didn't copy anything from xbox.
1) the XMB was before Xbox360 even got developed (PSX)
2) the button was on the controller last year, somy said then it would function as the 'home' button.

google this.

Unless they change the XMB to a "blade interface", which would suck if you know XMB, they didn't copy nothing.

Also about the HDD, it was not built in before, i know, but the PS2 had a harddrive before the xbox 1 was launched, so you know.
The idea to include it by standard, was from the xbox, but microsoft changed this in the xbox360.

Also the option to upgrade it, core or premium, is new, you can put in any drive you want, as long as its sata and 2,5 inch.

If the PSX also has wifi, the PS3 'copied' even less from the xbox360.

But i am going to look that up.

Anyway. The idea that they copied everything only comes from uninformed people. ;)
