Since now it's officially confirmed we have a dashboard update at the end of may, what kind of features do you like to see in the dashboard update? The option for background downloading is a huge option. And i heard some rumours for a completly overhauled marketplace, that would be sweet to. So for me:
1. Background Downloading
2. Overhauled Marketplace
3. Fix for Xbox360 Dvd hack
4. Give me the TV episodes blade, so i can download my favorite tv shows.

I'd like to see some kind of community section where xbox live users could put up there own stuff, to an extent. No inapropriate things.

If they give them to me in 720p without commercials and logo's. and it has the same release time (maybe 1 day later) as the airing date, i'm willing to pay for it yes.

I'd like to have a way of transfering mp3s from a flash drive (or any mass storage device) onto my HDD on the xbox 360. I also want group chats instead of one on one private chats. I wish I could download content from the Marketplace and watch a DVD at the same time too.

I thought the group chats where disabled because it did use to much bandwidth on xboxlive, background download and watching a dvd should be possible i think. And for copying music, i'm using my ipod, but it sure would be a nice feature.

I thought the group chats where disabled because it did use to much bandwith on xboxliveI think E3 proves they've got more than enough bandwidth available by now ;)
As for DirecTV, I don't think they actually promised that? As far as I know it was a rumor from OXM (http://www.xboxic.com/news/229) ;) I also mentioned it to Major Nelson last month, and he was extremely vague, leading me to think it's not going to be a dedicated DirecTV blade, if it is involved at all. Judging from his whole presentation I'm expecting a new blade somewhere this year, but far more general than just DirecTV.

I thought they announced a partnership on the latest Consumer Electronics Show 06 in januari. And they promised about the Directtv option for xbox360. But maybe the option will come available trough XboxMediaCenter. If they do that they have a larger userbase.

The partnership is most certainly official. The blade isn't :)

It would be cool if 360 made some time of Itunes so we could download our favorite podcast...Even make it possible to have like IGN, Gamestop, TeamXbox reviews, downloads, videos, screenshots. I knwo we have marketplace for that kind of shit but it would be cooler if we could get info from all 360 suporters.

i dont think ms would go for that because if there is a bad game, they would still like to sell it, and with a bad review, people wont buy it.

But they still have "Official" magazines in most countries, and while they're less likely to give a bad review than independant ones, they still mark games down now and again...

I would like to see a web browser that everyone can use, not just people with a PC, cause I have a mac, and its not fair that mac makes stuff work for the pc like itunes, ipod, and virtual PC, Microsoft needs to do the same, but besides that, I would like a web broswer like web tv or something to surf the web on my tv.:)

Aren't Micosoft supposedly doing 2 major updates a year? So whatever doesn't make it in this one, like all the DirecTV blade, maybe that will appear in the "Autumn" update.
Curry
May 28th, 2006, 13:23
I think intention was 4 updates per year, 1 per quarter, but it seems to be going towards "majors" in Spring and Autumn and "minors" in Summer and Winter now yeah.

A fix for all the games you can't play correctly with the VGA cable would be nice (stretched view like PGR3 or even more anoying games that only work if you put it to PAL-50/60 with your normal cable first).

I know this won't happen, but playing protected AAC content thats on my iPod. For some reason it doesn't get CDDB content for singles, just albums.

Ihave a friend with TimeLife trying to get them to join with Xbox and make a better music/ artist of the month.
The main thing there asking is " Would you buy music from your gaming store?" There thinking of making a music CD for gamers. Basically which type music do you listen to while gaming?
So what do you guys think...

Be nice if, in the same way you can now choose to boot to dashboard instead of the game that's in, you could set an option to not auto-play a disc when you put it in once the 360 is already up and running. Annoys me no end, that does.

If you put it in but dont want to play it yet, then dont close the tray. That way if you want to read the content of the disc, just select close tray

No, I know that, but it's a bit risky having a disc tray sitting open because you're still browsing the marketplace.
I know the other solution is "Don't put it in til you're ready for it" - but it would just be a nice little time-saver.

I really dont see the point. Why would you get off your ass to put a disk in you 360 if your not planning on doing anything with it. IMHO it makes no sense 8)7

You obviously don't have cats. I was also bloody surprised when it happened to me, I closed the tray and went off to get a beer and a ciggy, meantime using the 10m wireless reach to finish my marketplace browsing before launching the game. Game suddenly started booting already.
And we definitely need something with hotkeys. Hold A during startup to override configured boot behaviour (ie. boot a game while you usually boot to dash or vice versa).
