Bush is an easy target for sure, but this whole mess can hardly be called his fault.

Greed, plain and simple, on the parts of MANY led to this. From the loan and mortgage brokers making commission on the deals they closed, banks and secondary lenders putting up the capital hoping to cash in down the road, and yes, even poor Mr. Joe Taxpayer, who knew he had no means of repayment on the mortgage, but took it anyways under the (false) assumption that the value of said home would continue to rise, year over year, and a simple refinance would take care of any money problems at that time.

While I disagree on the notion of a governemtn bailout, I do so simply because its a little too close to Socialism for me. While gov't regulation and oversight are the cause of a great deal of beaurecratic (sp?) nightmares, the area of finance is not one that should be left to its own devices.

Big Brother is not always a bad thing. Monitoring finacial institutions and impossing significant regulations against leveraged purchases, as well as careful review of balance sheets are needed on an ongoing and regular basis. The bailout stinks for the vast majority of American's who plan to (and will) pay their debts in timely and proper fashion, as they're now on the hook for the excesses of others. Hardly fair at all. Unfortunately, the alternative is a collapse of epic proportions. 1929 was nothing compared to the scale of this mess. In short, there's more money in the hands of more people today than there was then. If there is no gov't intervention, well, thank god I'm not retiring for 30+ years, as it'll take that long to right this ship.

@ toyota 4x4, I think that its time for the yahoo's in your country to wake up and understand that federal regulation and oversight within the financial industry is a MUST. Big Brother doesn't need to know what goes on in your home, but your bank account is a different story. Exactly ... but the deregulation part didn't come until 2002, so there's all sorts of blame to go around. Right around around the time the .com bubble burst, the Bush Administration had to figure out a way to finance the housing issues the Clinton administration ...

I've got to assume that this means that XBOX360 users using the netflix streaming service come the fall update are now going to have access to starz content. Starz has BY FAR the best selection of movies as far as on demand services in the US, so this really increases the marketability of this service.

Now the real question is which is cheaper, subscribing to starz on cable (with perfect quality), or subsribing to netflix via my 360. I already subsribe to HBO.

And on New Year's Day this year a 19-year-old girl walking on a main street in east London was shot in the head by a thief who wanted her mobile phone. If thats the story i remember, (which it most likely is considering 19 year old girls getting shot dead on new years isnt as common as you'd think)

You could honestly probably do it in Flash...or Coffeecup Firestarter. In Flash you'll have a lot of options for saving, .gif, .swf, .mov...and more I think.

FIFA 09' is the mutts nuts, I ain't even started on the manager mode yet, been hooked on the Be a Pro thing where you play locked as one player.

Which I imagine is how the 10 vs 10 will translate to since people have to keep position otherwise it will end up like schoolboy football with 20 players in a group chasing the ball.

Enjoying it so much I have hardly touched Saints Row 2 yet.

I'm currently working my way through manager mode at the moment with my team. I can't wait to start be a pro. On the Be A Pro mode, is it 3rd person perspective like in the arena?

It is and it completely changes the game.

You find yourself screaming at your team when you call for the pass and they don't do it the second you want it and ruin your run by moving offside.

It's a lot more about creating space while staying near your position and creating runs that lead to goals.

Currently playing as Steven Fletcher for Hibernian FC. You get to add experience points as you go so no point starting as Ronaldinho as there is little improvement to make, still want to feel like I have achieved something.

Hmmm lemme correct a slight misperception there ;)

I invested months of my life in this site, well into 5 digits of monetary amounts, and in the end it simply didn't pay off. Advertising markets collapsed, growth didn't continue, lot of the original crew left. After 3 years I had to make a business decision being that I would never be able to get it profitable and that I couldn't afford to keep pumping money into a bottomless pit.

So, I tried to sell the place after properly announcing this to the key crew to ensure proper continuation, and after investigating whether I could get current crew to continue running the place. Neither worked (the deal-a-site posting is junk-ish btw, sites like that don't work for sites worth more than $500, but I tried anyway). There's currently still initiatives from Ross and Zan to keep the site afloat and keep the news coming, and I have no intention whatsoever to take the sites offline any time soon. Everyone's welcome to help if they want and are serious about it.

But please don't go telling me I don't give a crap. I personally visited all games publishers multiple times trying to get advertising deals going, I'm something like 20k euro down on the place over the past 3 years, I invested tons of time. Telling me I don't give a crap is an insult, and a grave one.

Actually the biggest mistake I made with the sites was giving a crap. When the sites grew and we started getting advertising income, I started paying the news writers for their work. Way too much, but I wanted to make it worthwhile for them and I figured ad income would catch up. It didn't, we've never had a single profitable month (november 2006 came close though), and I can hardly blame people for not continuing work for free after they've been paid for it before.

There never has been any other place on the internet I could return day after day after day and there still isn't now! but when this site first started everything about the xbox360 was exciting, over a two year period there was loads of stuff to talk about with new add-ons, new console versions, new games...but now there is only games to look forward to and the odd dash update here and there. Xbox360 news everywhere seems a little slow as it is only games people can write/talk about.

My guess is the next great period for news and gaming is about 6 months before the release of the next xbox and the next two years after that...

So Valve Just announced that if you pre-order their game you will be able to get the demo early. The demo is due on the 11th of November, with a pre-order you can get it on the 6th (pc and 360). Thoughts?

Personally Pre-Order gimmicks piss me off but maybe they're just looking for some extra media attention before some 500 lb gorilla games start being released, namely Gears.

1. I dont think people who pre-order a certain game are the intended audience for the demo of said game.
2. I'm glad that whole pre-order nonsense hasn't reached our side of the pond yet. It sucks that I miss out on the cool bonuses but at least I can walk into a store on releasedate and pick my games up.

Point 2 has to be my favorite aspect of digital distribution: No sell outs, and the games come out when they're supposed to come up... All you have to worry about is that your connection is up and the vendors servers aren't getting too slammed :) [you'd think they'd be using some torrent like technology to deal with that... the busier the better]

yes that happened to me a bit too. i remember holding a spliff for 4 fuckin hours without smokin it because i was so locked into oblivion (a game i thought id hate originally), then when i finally smoked it it was about 8 am and i was supposed to be in work..

multiplayer gaming in general has cost me probably hundreds in cigs that have burnt down, warm beer that just ends up being a bastard cleaning up and bloody spliffs- smokers will agree that a long gaming session with no promise of spliff at the end is a sad gaming session, and if youre online with some cunt whos talking about how good his new batch of hawaiian haze is in his fancy new volcano vapourizer then its liable to make you play worse too.

Hilariously that's exactly what happened! I played Fallout for about an hour, got pissed that I had no idea where to go, then played SR:2 for the rest of the night. I made my character in SR2 a carbon copy of my GF, which is more than a little creepy.

Im pretty pissed off.

When I turned on my console at 2.25am 1st November (today) I got asked to install a dash update then another screen about updating a security check?

My console restarted and I have the new dashboard update preview....

I was so pleased...I thought OMG yay I did have it afterall...the only reason I didn't download it from other places was because I know it wont let you sign in on live until 19th if your gamertag is not authorised in the preview...

...and now I have problems. I can't fucking connect to xbox live at all. I have sent emails to both MS Connect and Xbox Tech support as want this sorted because Gears2 is out next week and CoD5 the week after. I am guessing the problem is they got my gamertag right for me to get the update request, but maybe my console ID is wrong.

I dont know - but Im pissed off... so long as it's sorted by 7th November !!!
and to have CoD5 on 14th with the whole day off and not able to sign in on LIVE

OMG! the vein on my neck is gonna burst any minute.

Update on NXE:

1: You can't create personal gamerpics with vision cam anymore!
2: Installing games to HDD is quicker and quieter with some games, not all that noticable with others. Takes about 6GB of Memory per game
3: This totally destroys all of your themes - ALL of them! but Gamerpics are brighter like the hue has been turned up.
4: The guide button brings up like a mini version of the old dashboard. 5 different blades in the centre of the screen - its cool !

I hate it when people whinge about the stupidest of things. "whhhaaa whaa my themes are now useless, I want my pennies back". MS haven't made themes obsolete "not long after", themes have been kicking around since 2005, that's three years with themes, times change and things move on. Get used to it you pussy and stop counting your pennies.
