And don't get a PS3 as your main gaming console if all your mates are on Live. If you don't have many/any real life friends on there, then a PS3 is a perfectly adequate replacement for the 360, so long as you like the controller.

Wow...I disappeared for a little while. Got buried with work from holiday sales...and then went on an "Achievement Whore-off" with a friend of mine since he had gotten ahead of me. So far I'm a few hundred points ahead of him now....and I FINALLY beat Gears of War 1....thanks to the little competition...lol

Awesome man! send me an friend request! :) The MLB games are the best baseball video games. Nothing else comes close. We use the PS3 as a blu-ray player A LOT! At least 2-3 movies a week. We get them via Netflix.

My fucking laptop (Dell Inspiron 6400) is playing up. For some reason the screen has been permanently dimmed and I can't for the life of me change it back to its nice brightness. It keeps informing me I need to replace the battery, but would that make it dim the screen? It hadn't done that until today.

Any suggestions?

Nope I've narrowed down the problem. It's one of the start up programs I've recently installed, because my screen is normal until it boots up then dims. Currently uninstalling that, but I now have an even more annoying problem.

My touchpad has stopped working. A "Synaptics Driver Fault" or something prevents it from working. I've uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it but that hasn't helped. I literally can't use it for anything, I was looking for solutions via keyboard shortcuts on the net last night, horrible experience. Hooked up a mouse today but that's not ideal. Any more suggestions? The internet is helping me here!

I have my laptop plugged in for around 80% of the time I use it. I've sorted the screen, some silly shit from ATI that I installed. Won't be doing that again. Just need the touchpad working again now!

I had a beautiful Sony Widescreen TV...cos they was taking off all the way back then like LCD's are today... loved it, and my £179.99 DVD Player lol...cos they were expensive too.

With me being 30 next year (the next milestone I guess after 21 ) all I want to do is leave the country which I think is a big enough hint for a nice 2 week cruise

Yea crazy weather here in North Ga as well. Been rainin all morning about 37 and then just now it turned to huge flakes and is snowing about as hard as it was rainin earlier. Bad news is it usually dont lay much here as its not cold enough for long periods of time. Id love it if we had about 8 inches here just enough to get outa work and then go have some fun in it.

It looks amazing. It feels a little slow coming off my recent Halo3 fixation. It was difficult sort of for me. I think I'll switch up the controls. It's lacking some kind of soul. It feels sort of generic to me, even though it looks great. It's definitely worth playing Ross. If all else, it looks fuckin' sweet.

So uhh...I'm finally getting over the flu (been sick for 4 weeks and 1 day so far) and my wife seems to be getting better too (she has pneumonia). So....I guess that's good....

I picked up Facebreaker for $9.98 the other day when I had to pick my daughter up from work. The game is fun....but makes Ninja Gaiden games look like a walk in the park. I don't think I've EVER played a game more difficult than this....and I'm playing on EASY.

But today was a brilliant day as I got to play a few upcoming wii games with a more mature nature consisting of House of Dead OVERKILL,Madworld and the Conduit. I had a question and answer session with developers for each game so anyone interested I can say saomthing when it's up on blog. :)

By the way I urage everyone to get a copy of OVERKILL! The cursor movement is perfect when aiming, presentation feels like something out of a 80's horror movie and the dialogue is pretty funny.

Having played both it does have some aspects that are better like how the reloading works on OVERKILL makes it easier to do at the right time. The pointer moves much more faster on OVERKILL than Umbrella chronicles and accurate.

I do like Chronicles a lot but it's not as fast paced as House of the Dead games. Then again Resident Evil is all about solving those puzzles and trying to avoid being jumped on my the latest evil lurking in the shadows.

It is really a pain I had a similar thing before I was at uni and working for the YMCA had a 14yr get pregnant and the boyfriend was 18 and you can't do Jack about it the police wouldn't prosecute him very annoying! I started playing World of Warcraft when I was 24 I believe... and aside from the first 2 months or so of playing, I was a part of the same 'Guild' (clan / team) for the 2 years I played the game. I 'quit' WoW 2 or 3 times, for about 3 months per time, due to console games and mmo burnout.

In that first year, a young couple joined our guild. Kids. High schoolers, in love. The girl was a typical high school chick, flirty with everyone. Chatted a lot w/ everyone. I'm not sure how well I knew her back then, or how much we talked (I vaguely recall whining to her about my girl troubles?), but I know that when photo's were posted in a 'post your pic!' thread, i had made comments about how we both knew she thought i was hot. (i'm pretty shy in general, except on the .net i'm a cocky prick!). Her boyfriend started a grudge at that point. (i think it all comes down to this statement. maybe making that cocky claim caused her to think it. girls like that shit. bitches!)

So then she went to college, i quit wow, years flew by, we both started playing WoW at the same time again. She was 19, I was 26. Her, now 'ex', tried making me think the girl hated me, but to no avail.

Everytime the girl and i talked it was all flirty and awesome, and everytime I told my 'best friend in WoW' "dude. DUDE. xxxxxx wants me."

And everytime he claimed "pics or it didn't happen."

Well then she started talking to me on vent a lot, not just in game, and then asked me for my phone number on the day she broke up w/ her current college boyfriend. I had a date the following day, and a different date the following day. after both awkward / failed dates, I called this Warcraft chick back.

The following weekend I'm getting webcam shows. Err... I'm partaking in webcam shows. ;). Those ruled.
Two weeks later shes flying from Boston to Columbus Ohio to spend 5 days straight w/ me.

A month later shes telling me she loves me, flying out again for a week.

A month later we're done. And we both quit WoW due to the awkwardness.

I don't wanna post a pic, I ain't trying to deface anyone except myself here (2 years in warcraft? fag.), but she was definitely gorgeous, a bubbly young blonde you would not expect to be a gamer, and i could sorta compare her to Claire from Heroes.

And so... in conclusion.... whereas all of my friends were out weekly getting drunk and getting laid, I at least got laid once in a 2 year World of Warcraft adventure!

I sold my 27 or so 360 games last year... 27 games, x63 bucks each after tax. That was 1701 dollars. I made 130, and that was only because I signed up for a Gamestop 'Edge' card, for 15 bucks, which got me 15% more per trade in...

If you buy a game like Fable 2, and beat it in a week and regret having bought it, and immediately trade it in... your 63 bucks becomes about 38. much better.

I read today that the Sega Megadrive is being re-released by Blaze in console form. Comes with 2 controllers, 15 games built in... will look like a slimmer/smaller model of the original megadrive 1 and come complete with cartridge slot to play Megadrive/Genesis Cartridges from any region.

I waited for my girlfriend to get home to start up Resident Evil 5, figured she'd watch me through a lot of it since it's one of those games w/ movie like scenes....

first: before i even put it in I was saying all evil like... 'Resident EEEVill.... FIIIIIIIVE' cuz I just knew... they had to say it when i started a game up. and woo! they did. earned a few geek points w/ the girl probably, which is never good. except for the fact that i love it. embrace your inner geek.

second: i play a lot of games on the hardest difficulty they give me, (i even downloaded the asian Hard Mode for Blue Dragon months before america could have it)... but I started this on veteran and was playing in front of her... and I duno if I should be on veteran in this game yet. is anyone playing it? what difficulty?

third: i can game for hours, dying repeatedly at one checkpoint. hours. but give me an audience, and dying twice puts me in a mood to quit. like i'm letting them down and failing to entertain them.

i think i'll play it on Normal. /sigh

fourth: does anyone know if you gain anything except Trophies (PS3!!!!) for playing on Solo mode, and not turning on the option to allow coop before you start a game? (you can't change it once you start)

wow. 5 times? I've started RE4 on my laptop yesterday (never played it before). Hooked it up to my 37" tv with HDMI, my surround system and playing it with an xbox360 controller.. looks sweet and plays great. Why have i never played this game? 8)7

4 hours in at the moment and looks like I'm near the end? Saved the girl, killed the fish and el grando and heading for the extraction point. Don't tell me it's ending soon ;(

It looks a lot better, but that's mainly because of the higher resolution.

haha.. looked it up and i'm in chapter 2.2 out of 6 !!.. glad it's not over soon :D

About the pc version. Yes it looks a lot better. But as rival said mostly due to the high widescreen resolution. Fortunately Capcom noticed that people were complaining about the quick and easy port and put out a patch (1.1.0) of 70MB with loads of updated textures and lighting effects. Looks really amazing now. The prerendered cutscenes are still in the original gamecube format and the difference between a cutscene and ingame is more than night and day.. hell, it's double the difference between night and day!

Yea lol those cutscenes really look ridiculously ugly! I don't understand why they didn't use the ingame engine?! Must be a difficult technical thing or something. They did the same in the PS2 version of the game, only the Cube and Wii have cutscenes rendered by the engine.

I can no longer afford to pay $60-80 for a new retail game. Food, rent, car and insurance payments......plus saving for the condo closing at the end of the year, my dog's vet bills, and a slight penchant for smoking certain things, and well, money is tight.

Other people I know have turned to getting new games the ultimate cheap way (again they have bills, kids, mortgages where every penny counts) because there are new tools out now that allow you to play online with them also. I have no patience for it but can understand why people do it - I can't even be bothered to download a movie cos I have a real hatred of waiting for things... Kettles, downloads, ovens, queues, ........

Something really odd is going on with my xbox, it's like I keep being booted offline it don't let me play for long. My console is fine offline, but when I go online it lets me and then I keep getting cut off. 1: My net connection is fine, don't happen with PC's laptops or PS3... 2: I have borrowed a 2nd wireless adapter and it still happens, I've tried using only a lan cable - it still happens... I dont get it... its frustrating me !!

ah that sounds about it... I can't stay online for long periods of time - it's struggling. So it also seems to be Halo related attacks... In most matches of everything im playing I get kicked out of a game, ie back to the lobby and then I get the disconnected from xbox live message... I sign in and it happens again and again and again...my exp penalties on Halo now in 2 days are now -30 something.

Yeah it sounds bad when it's read back, but those are my cutbacks. When you've been used to something or a way of life for so long and it's changed...it's a bit weird - believe me getting on a 'bus' was the oddest thing when I first done it in 15years...

A Bus into my nearest town cost me £5 return trip

The cost's that are associated with a driver is £7 per hour for driving and waiting usually 3hours & £5 fuel... so my day into town usually cost's £26 per day. Now I have to get on a bus which is like a fairground ride on tarmac!! and walk around town and get a bus home but it cuts £21 a day. Also the driver has lost income through it but without my trips his time is now spent on longer more work related stuff rather than personal.

I was going abroad and I asked the bank if they could make me one, just out of curiosity and they did. I also figured that If a picture of me was on the card with part of my signature then it would cut the risk of fraud should I have lost it. But it was a cool thing for the bank to do for me and I love it.

I'll send a pic of it this time to those here on my list to show how awesome I look next to a Visa logo...
