I've had it since it came out... - it went off the dashboard for about 3hrs, but I could then just use quick launch to play it...

Now though it's in full prominent position on Video Marketplace where I just press the start button and it loads?

Nope doesn't appear for me at all. I go to Video Marketplace and there's just films. Dunno what's going on...

Just checked the xbox.com forums and it seems I'm not alone. Oh well.

Sky Player is pretty shit right now... if you have the Movies then it's good since you can just pick any of the 400+ films and instantly stream one using the on-demand Movies selection (and theres fucking loads)... but for some reason with the on-demand content you can't alter the streaming quality so you really need a good internet connection.

With Live TV you can choose low - high quality, with low quality actually not that bad! - but another odd thing is that Sky Player streaming content is no way near as amazing as the Zune Marketplace Streaming content. I can pick a film to rent on Zune and it just starts instantly and it auto picks the quality varying with connection - it's just 'PERFECT' whatever the software is behind Zune is great!!! Sky on the other hand streaming stuff pauses itself a lot to load in advance...

Another wonderful confusion is that you get the impression with certain wording and adverts that to watch Live TV you need Sky multiroom for almost £10 per month. Live TV is totally free for anyone with multiroom - but if you want the live tv thing then it is actually 'JUST' £5 per month from the xbox.skyplayer.com/subscriptions webpage

another wonderful confusion - the sky player states the free one month code to trial live TV is XBOX1MONTH [WRONG!!!!] it is actually SKYXBOX1MTH

There aren't many good channels and nothing can be downloaded to your HDD... If you have Sky Movies and an outstanding good net service then it would be brilliant...otherwise its not as good as you would think...

Took a while for Sky player to appear for me also. More of a curiosity for me than a necessity, don't think I'll ever use it tbh, I don't have movies and that would seem to be the best thing about it at present.

Yeah read it was slowly being rolled out now to more & more people.

Its crap!!! unless you have movies... and even then, the streaming isn't like how Zune Player does it flawlessly - Sky Player stops n starts to load..

WOOOOHOOOO!! I fianlly got closed on my house! Took em long enough huh? Ive been paintin goin on a week now and its one of the worst things ive had to do haha. Anyway I gotta get me some furniture and ill be set for now neway! :) Oh and just in time for MW2 next week haha!

Naw not yet. Im not fully moved in yet actually not started haha. You dont know how much shit useless shit you have till you have to pack it all up and move! I do have the cable/internet company coming friday to install along with my washer/dryer i got today. Ill be ready for tuesday!

Maybe you'll get it for real tomorrow...and Im still not sure why this dash is a preview beta since it's no different to anyone elses...

Zune is a download Application,
Sky Player a download Application,
Last.fm a download Application,
Halo WayPoint a download Application,
Facebook is a download Application...

All applications think they are games too, but with 0 of 0 Achievements. If you accidentally delete it because you have no achievements - then you are fucked for a little while - it dont work for ages.

Finally downloaded the Sky Player, and it seems my internet connection is just not good enough to cope. Haven't tried the Live player, but it couldn't even render the footy highlights without pausing and buffering. Added to the fact the quality is piss poor, this is something I won't be using.

Big shame.

Live Player is fine though - this was one of my complaints that I wish the streaming on-demand content could have quality selection. If you choose Live Player (you would have Sky News free anyway) then press LB to choose Low Quality, it streams pretty well...

For some reason the on-demand stuff is set at the highest quality rate for the best internet in the land...

Good Internet & Sky Movies then a winner...but I hate it now...it is fucking useless shit. I'm better off just choosing multi-room from Sky with a Sky Box which I am considering...

Im a bit dissapointed with the sky player.
I was hoping to be able to buy football games etc seperate instead of an overpriced crap selection of channels. You dont even get sky1 for god sake???
if you are paying for sky player STOP!!! Pay roughly the same amount a month for a full sky subscription and a sky+ box or sky+hd.
unless ofcourse you cant recieve from a satellite.
A bonus with the sky player is that you arent tied to a subscription.

Iv been pondering getting sky+hd.
I would want the sports package and espn.
I would also want to get the movies to have access to the on demand on the xbox.
Roughly £60 a month though. Its a bit steep. Maybe a month or two of the sky player is a good way to decide whether you can justify getting a full sky package.

I have Sky HD, but I dont bother with movies since I pretty much see most of them months before they go on Sky.

I love Sky+ features recording, pausing straight from the box...and at the moment most content is not true HD on these HD channels, it's upscaled stuff. Best HD channels at the minute is Nat Geographic, Discovery & Sky1

oh not sure when, but Parcel Force are delivering Modern Warfare 2 today...I hope it's early and not like 5pm just cos I live in an out the way village - usually left to last of the day slots for everything!!

Also the show I've worked on for 5yrs has been axed by the channel, since the presenter who's rushed off to be in 'Im a Celebrity' has quit...plus channel4 have had a further 50 Million pound Budget cut and killed a lot of shows off...

But I'm known with a few production companies and 5yrs production/cam experience can also be put to good use for maybe some commercials now...who knows...I'll find out.

When I'm transferring a ton of websites and databases I do usually keep an eye out for anything out-of-the-ordinary, including user complaints ;) Can't see everything myself, and permission problems like the one you saw always crop up *somewhere* :P

It was done for me a few years ago by Curry - you should PM him or I think Rival can do it...maybe even Ross too - I can't, but I can see where to change it, just havent got the save button permissions :( ?

edit: brief moment of pause... I said 'few years' ago.. come about Feb I've been reading the front page for FIVE years - where has time gone... I used to moan about coming up 30 when I was 26... :( :( :( ...oh man... and actually I dont feel all that bad about being 30 now its literally just around the corner...

Now I rarely comment about fighting games - but just played the Bayonetta Demo on Live and it is tremendously beautiful and scarily addictive!!! I was given a download code and Sega has done a fucking good job...

Not sure if there's any hype for this game, since I haven't followed it - but I think I'd buy it!!
