Just thought I would buy it cos it was the only JRPG around and liked the FF series on the PS2.

The actual game was alright, it was just strange with the homo hints all the way through, having to take a double take at the subtitles at times to make sure I had actualy heard it correctly.

I'm still playing Enchanted Arms. I'm near the end where I've got to face the Ice Queen in the castle but I'm doing some levelling up first.

As far as the homosexual subtext goes, well, it's hardly just a few hints, is it? Right from the start the blonde bloke quite openly has the hots for the other bloke with the girl's name. Even to the point of trying to get him into a hotel for a "festival of their own" during the festival bit near the start. Pretty overt if you ask me.

Nothing wrong with that as far as I can see. The only thing I have issues with is the blatant stereotyping of the homosexual character during the early part of the game. He's camp. He's comedy camp, in fact. Stereotypes usually do a lot more harm than good when it comes to prejudice. You can see the devs bottled it somewhat because the Mystery Man guy is obviously the blonde gay guy but without the campy baggage. Maybe he'll be camping it up again at the end since it looks like the black haired bloke with the girl's name is going to die. Or maybe not.

Certainly doesn't make me doubt my own sexuality in any way. This game might have blazed a bit of a trail for other gay characters in games. I just hope they're not as clumsily characterised.

PS Enchanted arms is a good game , just steer clear if you dont like your story to be full of wise cracks and less dramatic than your average RPG , Im playing it at the moment .

Yeah, that is another thing. These games hit bank accounts hard.

Thats why I rent a lot of games, such as Dead Rising (which I didn't play too much because of that stupid text on SDTVs), Just Cause, NHL 07, Prey, Godfather, SC : DA and so on.

If I win Euro Millions on Friday, I'll buy every member of the Xboxic forum a game of their choice, lol. And of course, just about every 360 game there is.
