Data released by the FBI on Monday showed that in 2005, the nation’s total violent crime rate was 38% lower than in 1991, when violent crime hit an all-time high. Rates of the individual categories of violent crime were also much lower in 2005 than in 1991. Murder was 43% lower, rape 25% lower, robbery 48% lower, and aggravated assault 33% lower. The FBI’s report came on the heels of a Bureau of Justice Statistics crime survey that found that violent crime was lower in 2005 than anytime in the survey’s 32-year history.

Defying the anti-gunners’ claim that more guns means more crime, from 1991-2005 the number of privately owned guns increased by more than 70 million.

I wrote that article on Xboxic, so I guess here would be a better place than any to explain...

I never suggested they were going to leave gigs of space on the DVD, obviously they would maximise all the space given to them. I meant that given everything else they needed to include, there was probably no extra room for more than 12 tracks.

I never meant to imply that a lack of disc space meant that the game was delayed. Hopefully none of you readers felt that I implied that. I'll quote what lead me to assume that not all the data would fit on the disc:


Hundreds of Gigs of new GPS data (for elevation, dimensions, etc.) and reference materials were collected this time around in the pursuit of realism. Drift fans will be happy to know, for instance, that the drift loop has been added to Road Atlanta -- if nothing else, we do it for the sake of being completist.

A final thought to keep in mind, and it's something I've already mentioned on the forums earlier this week, is that with reams of track reference data for much more than just these 12 environments, our track artists will continue to be working and cranking out content even after our game ships. In other words, expect downloadable content in the form of both tracks and cars in the months following FM2's release.


Maybe it was just me who assumed he meant there was not enough room for all the data they had gathered, I don't know. But I do apologise if any of you were mis-lead by what I said.

I hope that clears up the situation for everyone.
