yes i know its been out for months...... but i cant crack it after all this time...
my highest score is 400,000 which is bad but, having looked at leaderboards i am not alone........

my question is this : sometimes i play this game and it seems to like me .... i play well and get a personal good score and all is ok........... other times its like hell has been unleased......i am thinking " jesus what did i do wrong.... why does this game hate me so much..." and i get a very low score.....

i am not aware that i am doing anything different........ so why is the game experience so different.... can any expert give me some advice... is it related to the spaceships maybe ???

hope someone can help!!!!!! still on a miserable 50 gamerpoints for this game!

Well, i must admit i have too much free time too:) The problem is that if i were to play this game for 8 hours then i would be lucky if i reached 500,000... but i get your point, i am not obsessed with this game, just want to get a few more achievements on this game! thanks for your help anyway!

As for the game: it's a fact that there is a large random factor involved in which "favorite opponents" you get during a game. Sometimes you get the blue jack spawns (the hundreds of small ones) at 200k, sometimes at 1.5 million. Sometimes you never get the bitching purple seeker diamond, sometimes you get 5 of them before 250k. Thing is you have to be able to handle them all ofcourse. And as I said before, you have to forget you're playing a game and get in a sort of trance. Become one with your controller and don't wake up until it says game over :P

Then I was stuck at 497k for a long while, until all of a sudden I made 917k. Ever since I've had no trouble passing 500k on nearly every game I play.

Yes, and the game is not rigged :) Very much like Table Tennis, the game has an authentic learning curve. You just learn and improve moves every time you play the game, and it pays off. After that it's like riding a bicycle: autopilot without thinking :)

Yesterday i set my personal record at 1.9 million.
Just keep on playing this game.

It is sometimes a verry frustrating game and when it does just don't play it for a couple of days.

You will see that you score will improve if you leave it to rest some time.
(It works for me)

I also know what you mean about the game experience changes sometime's you get loads of those blue guys and it just easy scoring other times you get loads of those nasty worms.

I agree on this totally. Before I could never hit 250k. Now its a breeze and I die around 480k everytime. In no time I will be able to pass 500k and so on.

Its just practice, practice, practice.

I've seen that it is possible to survive a million without the multiplier :) Depending on the enemies you get it may take up to max 1.3 mill before you get the 10x multiplier according to the guy :)

Yeah man.. same thing happenend to me the first time i got a decent high score. I'm pretty sure it's like that to prevent some exploit in the future from allowing people to cheat the leaderboard. This is just a guess though :)

Bitchin :X But to be honest, I think leaderboards were never supposed to be updated if not getting there while online. It's a whole different ballgame than the simple and basic achievement system that does cache until you get online.

I just tried a new game for Xbox called Xyanide yesterday, it has the geometry wars / robotron style of controls but in 3D. It's pretty cool, if you shoot at something in the background in the correct direction you see the bullets get smaller and 'attack' the background. It's like an old school R-Type game with geo wars controls and 2 player co-op! I haven't seen any reviews yet but I'm sure they will be love / hate, I'm looking forward to playing it 2 players with my room-mate later today.

When i bought the game i couldn't get more then like, erhmm, 150k ? Just kept on playing and my highscore increased to about 300k. It stayed like that for 2 months.

But then! I started another game and kept playing... Got a highscore of 550k, and unlocked 2 achievements ;) . I don't know what happend, but from then on I always scored around half a million, with a alltime highscore of 660k or something like that.

I am over a million now myself. But there was a time when i couldnt get over 15k

The first time I got over 1mill, the dumbass game didnt put my score on the board. I only had the achievement to prove it. I was so fuming that I went straight into another game and got over 1 million again (maybe 50k less) than the first time, but that score has saved on the leaderboards. :)

To anyone struggling here are my tips.
-Dont use your bombs unless you are gonna die (and i mean really die, not when you panic).
-Circle the screen heading towards the blackholes shooting them.
-Get used to shooting through to make a path.
-Don't flip out, try not go get angry. I went though a stage of SCREAMING! (yes really) when i died. Doesnt help. You just lose more lives quicker.
-Try get the 60 secs achievement. That helps you get good at making it through small gaps.
-Get rid of the normal game music. I put a song that comes on the HDD on called 'brother' on repeat. I seem to play amazing when that is on.
-Dont give up! I got stuck at 15k, 80k, 100k, 150k, 275k, 400k (for a LONG time), 700k and now stuck at just over 1mill.

Practice makes perfect. GAME ON!

:D true but I played through the biggest part of GRAW, finished DOA, finished PD0 (on easy), finished PGR3 (on silver) and got all the achievements in FIFA RTWC and most of them in FIFA WC. I finished the biggest parts of most of the 360 titles I own. And you were the one who said Ninja Gaiden was too hard to enjoy so stfu ;)

But you're the one playing it on the easiest setting which wasn't available on the normal version of Ninja Gaiden. And Besides, a game should build up the difficulty level.

Good job you didn't get 999,000 and then die cos that would have resulted in some major controller breakage. The Survive 1m achievement is about 20 times harder to get than the 500k one.

I've pretty well given up on this one, Didn't manage to get the multicastic, quartermaster, or survived 1M achievements, but got just about sick of the game in the process.

Okay I lied, as I now have the Quartermaster achievement and am practicing for the big survived 1M achievement. :)

Games like this, Frequency+Amplitude, ... seems like if you step away for a little bit of time and return you end up being slightly better...

As opposed to beating your head against the wall, continuously trying to do something you can't yet do, getting angry, playing worse, etc...

My roomate got a PS3 last week (hahahahahaha. boy has my opinion changed since last year. POS.)

I've been playing a little Blast Factor, ps3's geometry wars. I duno. It's not a better game, it's not a worse game. It's sort of like Amplitude + Frequency (except that amplitude is an obvious upgrade over freq), were you playing one, you wouldn't really mind that you're not playing the other. It uses the sixaxis motion controller to let you push a 'wave' from left to right, or right to left, pushing all enemies to that side of the screen. instead of bombs you have a knockback/shield you can use that recharges. it pushes enemies away from you in a circle. the enemies all have their own little unique things, one you have to use the wave from sixaxis to flip in order to kill it, one you have to use your knockback in order to turn them around and kill them. some fall back into the background where you cant shoot them, then resurface..

But in the end... same game. same gameplay, only it has levels. But it doesnt have music that you can really hear, nothing like that geometry wars song.

500k+ points with no deaths, and all that madness on your screen, that song blaring on your speakers.... oonce oonce oonce oonce. I never scream in video games, i never cheer when i score, etc. When i'm beating ass in geometry wars... i make up songs.... I'''mm a fricking godddd, at this gaaaaaAAAAAmmmee you will never kill meeeee cuz im a goooooooddd at this gameee, oonce oonc oonce oonce.

I wish they had a SportsCenter type show for badass moves in games. I'd be on it, even tho i can't break a million w/o dying. ;).

When you're at 3, 4 million, etc. When it's that 'high level', do you use a LOT of bombs?

There is a point, that I am ever so slightly out of reach of, where you build a multiplier so high, that you are gaining both Extra Lives and Bombs incredibly quickly. (your score is probably rolling up by the 100K's per seconds?)

At that point where you're gaining so many bombs, and are at / near the cap of 9, do you need to use your bombs a lot? I've been going with the assumption that I just need a little more skill w/ my twitch, shooting both behind and in front of me at once, but this last game I played I thought, maybe they're getting so many points that it doesn't matter to clear the map of all those luscious enemies. They'll have another bomb in seconds w/ that multiplier, be able to live through the situation, and keep the multiplier!


So, key to 1,000,000+ scores? Bombs Away? Let me know.

Well you have to use bombs when you personally need to. I use bombs everytime i think i am going to die, or everytime the snakes start to spawn out of the corners (unless its a "low level" then i can deal with them) its just perspectivly, what kills you the most and use bombs when you think you will die from that
