I dont understand why you are not given the choice to transfer your
mp3 collection to your hard disk but can only stream it instead?
I dont see why you are allowed to rip audio Cds and store them as mp3
on your console but on the other hand you are only allowed to stream
songs from mp3 players.
Some may say that's because of CopyRighted material and such
transfer/copy of songs could raise legitimate issues.
Then again who can guarantee or ensure the legitimacy of an Audo CD
you are ripping to your hard drive ?
Isnt there a propability that somone has perfectly legal mp3 in his
mp3 player that simply want to move or copy to his console ?

I'm not too bothered because I can either stream straight to the 360 straight from my 40GB Creative Zen MP3 player, or my Windows Media Centre's 1TB hard drive. Both of which are uber-cool features.
Yeah, I'm bragging ;)

The reason you cant copy mp3s directly to your xbox 360 is because it would bring about the "legal possibility" that microsoft corporation is aiding music piracy. I say a possibilty because it would be unlikely to happen but Microsoft dont want to take the risk of jeoparding a multi billion dollar investment.
If it really bothers you then the only real solution is to invest money in a good media connect pc and/or a USB hard disk. Otherwise, like me, you will have to copy mp3s from PC onto a cd and then burn CD onto xbox drive ( and then enter song titles and artists). If you are the latter, then maybe invest in a USB keyboard to help enter song details............

How does ripping songs from a CD-R not aid in piracy? Download 13-19 of your songs, burn it to a disk, rip it to your hard drive. It's just as equal as storing mp3s from a storage device. He just doesn't want the extra step. I just wish I could burn an mp3 cd with 130 songs and transfer THOSE over so I wouldn't have to waste blank cds. It can be done already, we just want one of the steps taken out of the equation so it's a little bit easier.

I totally agree with you..... i have personally spent countless hours burning a music cd from the pc and then burning it to the 360 and then entering song details.
But i cannot give you the answer as i am not a lawyer. All i can say is look at what is happening to all the web sites that are enabling "illegal" mp3 downloads..... it may be right or wrong etc but, like i said, microsoft dont want to risk anything.

Can you delete those bullshit songs that are already on the 360 when you get it?

maybe its because i got my 360 at launch but i dont remember any songs already on it! the only thing i had was a free game of hexic and some gamercards and themes. How many bullshit songs do you have? can you play them on the music player?if so they must be easy to delete?

There is about 12 maybe more, and yes you can play them on the music player. It looks like I would loose all my song if I delete, no option to delete individual songs. meh....

i did not get them!
you dont have to delete all the songs, you can delete them one by one in any order.
click on music, then enter hard drive, find the song, click on it and then find the "delete song " option! very easy!

Here's the Microsoft answer:
I checked with a dev lead on this one, and got the following info: when you have a device connected to your Xbox 360, you have access to that content – and when you unplug it, you don’t have access. Without getting too technical, allowing users to copy data from a device to the hard drive introduces some potential development or user headaches (security, rights management, complicated APIs, DRM en DRM encoders, more) and the easiest solution for consumers was to go with streaming.
Now all say "thanks Cesar" for the MS guy checking up on this ;)
I do agree that it's kinda shitty for us power users out here, since we'd preferable see our networked 360 show up as a "removable storage device" in Windows, but well from the common idiot point of view it does make kind of sense. I do think MS should consider allowing an "expert interface" to the machine's HD tho.

why would you even want to. I would much rather stream form my pc....it has a much larger hard drive then my 360....and w FFXI i need all the HDD room i can get!

The only reasons I can think of is when you're PC is too far away from your Xbox 360 console or when you want to save power.

I've got 6,800 mp3s on my hard drive. I don't feel like scrolling through all of them to see what I want to play. I like different songs at different times.

So it's nicer if i could just drag and drop mp3s to my HDD. Add/Subtract files at different times without wasting CD-Rs. :)
I know I could stream, but the file system isn't put together well enough for a large amount of music. It's great if you're dealing with 200 or so songs. But as you can see, I'm not.

I'm on a team of my own, you see. I'm outside of the Americans. I'm just so damn good that it wouldn't be fair to the other countries if I were on one team. :+
