last week when i turned my 360 on, i saw three red lights around the power button and i was like 8)7 what??? i plugged all cables off then plugged back in...it was ok then...now i got a very frustrated problem, which is very well known in 360 community!! yes the FREEZING SCREEN one!!
when i turn it on, within three mintues it's freezed...no matter i'm playing games or playing with dashboard...and the bad part is my 3-month warranty has ended last month...
i've tried everything they mentioned on their support page but nothing worked so i called Xbox Support and they asked me to send it to them which will cost me $167 canadian..
is it possible i still can buy 2 year extended warranty, which won't cost me $167 for shipping or i just can't buy it now?? and does anybody know how much that would be??

Mine went through exact same problem, except it doesn't freeze, but the disk tray keeps opening and closing at its own will. I think that amjadabbas, you'll have to bite the bullet and pay the "fine," but maybe Messiah can help, I know he's had problems.
Kind of semi-hijacked the thread.

just an idea, dont know if it will help but have you tried going to the system blade and resetting factory settings? heard this had helped a few people in the past.

Canadian legislation lets them get away with only 3 months warranty? :X God how I sometimes love the Netherlands where any product is required to have warranty lasting at least "reasonably expected minimum product lifetime" which is in practice 2~3 years on high-tech stuff.
I highly doubt that you'll be able to buy an extended warranty after the original one has passed, that would be ridiculous from the manufacturer/reseller point of view since they have no idea what happened meanwhile. Your case regrettably proves that point.

Three months is the standard in the U.S. too. I'm not sure about The Netherlands, but a lot of other countries get that wonderful warranty by having higher pricepoints at launch.

Three months, geez :(
I guess the big corporations are really in control in USA and Canada, instead of the people. :-(
How can anybody reasonably expect such a expensive product to function just three months, that's simply ridiculous. Here in Holland we can still claim part of the cost of the repair if the product is reasonably expected to still work. For instance if your washing machine has 2 years warranty -2 years is standard in europe on all consumer electronics- but it breaks down after three, you can claim at least 50% of the cost to repair it, and most likely even more.
Sucks to be you my friend, sorry :*
edit: about the pricepoint, if something in the US costs $15, it costs € 15 here, now that seems like it's more expensive here, but psychologically it isn't. So when a console costs $399-€399, the price is the same even if the yanks actually pay less than we do.
Having a stronger currency than the USD certainly has its merits ;)

Don't forget US prices don't include sales tax and European prices always include VAT/BTW/whateva.

I think, in this case, it sucks to be in North America..the thing really sucks is microsoft's policy..if they're launching a product on a big level, why can't they make contract with local repair centers...especially when they're launching an unstable product like Xbox 360...
i mean the only thing i'm paying is for shipping...isn't that ridiculous??
newayz i've figured out where exactly the problem is!! HARD DRIVE!!
without hard drive it ONLY freezes when music player is playing music with visualizations turned on!! i would blame SPRING UPDATE for that problem...

Hmm that's weird. Have you tried http://support.microsoft.com and the support forums on http://forum.xbox.com with this description. Often turns up surprising things when you know exactly what the problem is.
