I'm creating a squad to fight for the glory of SalKar!
It's called "LoneWolves" and the password for application is X X X (up)
Hope to see some applicants! :D
Bear in mind, too, I'm an amateur player - it's for fun, not a mega serious clan type thing!

Don't think anyone else bought the game after that demo :P
Tell me: I played the demo last night and gave up after about 30 mins. Is the real game that much better that it's worth buying?

Yes, yes it is. The demo was probably one of the weakest missions in the game for the soldier mode, and I didn't even bother playing the sniper mission on the demo. I decided I was going to get the game and give it a chance.
The customisation of your own mech adds depth like you wouldn't believe - it makes the game that much more fun to see your own hand-crafted baby kicking ass and taking names.
And online mode - the persistant war thing - will be amazing once there's a decent amount of people owning the game. Hence me trying to get some decent players in for my squad! ;)

You'll need to devote some time to get the best from it, I feel. The 'borrowed' mech you start with makes the game feel a bit slow and tired. Once you get enough parts to start building your own decent things, the game gets more interesting.
And, being honest with you, don't get it if you're only going to play single-player, because there's not a lot of difference in the single player modes aside from the speed of your mech and the firepower of your mech (and the baddies, of course).
If you're looking for what has potential to be a fantastic Live experience, though, go for it.

That demo totally put me off, are the visuals as bad as they were on the demo, it was probably the worst looking 360 game I've played...
Wasn't too entertained by the gameplay either, wasn't just the speed, it was the battle system too.

See, I'm in a minority, I guess - I think the graphics are great! The scenery is a little bit bland (it's bascially all fields and hills, like the demo, but sometimes sunnier or at a nice sunset sun-shining-into-the-camera effect) but the mechs themselves look phenomenal.
Dunno what you wanted from the battle system - you aim and you shoot, it's not much more complex than that. I do find myself wishing there was a boost button, though, for when a mission has you basically crossing the map in a very slow mech, but it's 'realism' I guess!

I know what you mean, but its just not very action packed. The battle system seems slow, and I don't just mean from a movement point of view.
Also the Mech that was in demo didn't seem to have much weight behind it, its difficult to explain; it just didn't feel right. In the Lost Planet Demo for example, you really got a sense of the mechs weight, it felt right, something in chromehounds just didn't click for me in that respect...
I've liked unpopular games before, so I know where your coming from, but the way I look at it, if you are getting enjoyment from it thats all that matters. :)

I know what you mean about Lost Planet, I have to admit. I think that's because the action is more immediate and in-your-face on that game, though. And the sound effects (and the fact the mech is really fast) help add to the feeling of oomph from it. Also, the camera seems closer in, and the weapons are cartoony-exaggerated as opposed to CH's "simulation" feel.
Hounds is a more tactical game - you don't go in all guns blazing. Lost Planet, on the other hand, seems exactly that - all guns blazing. Not that I'm complaining - it's the game Starship Troopers should have had as an official tie-in!
I am enjoying CH, but there's always the worry that I'm enjoying it in a comparative sense, because my other new game (Over-G Fighters) was absolutely rubbish. ;)

I thought about getting this one, I truly did. After playing the demo and watching the buildings fall like a pile of cards I gave it it's first strike. I also read something about the fact that you cannot join neroimus battles with other squads as allies, only with your squadmates. That was the second strike for me. The third strike was just that as soon as my friends lost interest in the game, I lost the final remaining urge to play it. We'll just enjoy our CoD2, GR:AW, Table Tennis, BFMEII, Burnout Revenge, DOA4, and FIFA World Cup Sessions (we have enough to play from the looks of it hehe :) )
I'm not bashing Chromehounds, but just sharing my opinions :)
If the game reviews well and seems to stick around (making the top 5 of the top 10 played titles), I may still pick it up.
Let me know how it goes guys

people in japan and europe are obssessing over it. apparantly online its a total blast, especially the 24/7 online war. only bad thing people with the game have sad in the forums is the campaign is slow starting out, and that sega put a rather low server cap number, so like a chatroom u gotta keep trying to log in as there isnt room for u all the time. supposedly itll be fixed for the north american release this week. i got faith in it, imma not cancel my preorder.

Yeah, I haven't been able to get onto the server since the first day I got it.
They're doing 'maintenance' on the 11th though, so I'm assuming that'll be some sort of upgrade.

Dont get me wrong but I think the game doesnt worth the money is
asking for. Its definetely NOT a next-gen title.
The Graphics are bad (explosions are the only good attraction)
The sound just sucks (so make use of your custom soundtracks)
The Mech Customization is vast and great.
The Servers are down !!
Its a very piss-poor job they've done there.
Mech Assault 2 for the XBOX was a hell more fun than this. Even the
graphics (aside the explosions) were better. And you also had the
choice to leave your mech and as a soldier on foot you could go and
find a different mech or airborne vehicle (which is another thing that's
missing) to ride.
With that said, I believe Mech assault 2 is better and a lot cheaper than
this self called next-gen title. Its definetely worth a rental but not your
hard earned money.
But then again, that's what I think. Some others may find it exciting enough
to invest their money on this title.

It's made even more annoying by the fact that people outside the UK (ie: Japan) are fine, because their servers are, of course, top notch.
But, as always, the country that pays most gets shafted most.

Actually, in a response on the main board, I said:
"They’re fine for Japan. It seems to be the UK and parts of Europe that are the only ones affected."
I can't speak for ALL of Europe, because I don't know enough to say that.
However, my point that the UK pays most for games is an entirely valid one.

Chromehounds is definitely a 'different'.. All those comparing it to MechAssault, you really can't.. For one they are Hounds... not Mechs..
Parts/Construction/Physics based on 'real-world' war technology.. No Beam-weapons included.. True some have Robot-like leg parts, but that is the only likeness to Mechs.. No Arms, No Heads, No Torso, No hands... Just Chassis, Cockpits, Generators, Electronics, Light and Heavy Arms (Arms meaning weapons.. not apendages), Supports Weapons, Radar... Basicaly Futuristic WarMachines.. If you read the storyline, it is an alternate ending/spinoff to the 'ColdWar'... That being said.. I think FROM has done a great job with it.. As does a lot of people that i know of..
This title will do just fine once it hits US shores... There are a lot of Sites/Clans gearing up to start battle..
be ready...

Online multiplayer is amazing, with small squads, 3-6 people it's just one big awesome battle. Everybody moving around with their custom built hound in 6 different classes. And the feeling you get when you destroy an enemy hound is 10 times better than killing an enemy in GRAW :P There's just so much stuff to do online, from simply building a hound to voting for a senator or something for your country.
And indeed, the demo sucks major cock compared to the full game.

You're so right. The satisfying explosion, great teamwork, and mech customization that I'm still learning make this game awesome. I'm going through SP now just to earn the parts for completing the missions ;)

At first I created crappy hounds also, but after a while you'll get the hang of it. Just keep in mind that all 3 factions have different parts and you should always participate in lotteries to get cool parts, or check out the experimental parts. It's also important to complete single player tot unlock some parts for multiplayer (sucks :()
