Suprised there ain't a thread on this already after the demo last week, what did we think of it?

Me? I've got mixed feelings about the game... Let me explain.

For most part I've gone from 100% not being interested in this game in the slightest, to pre-ordering it within an hour of playing the demo.

The gameplay great, it really does have that feel of Duke Nukem 3D, the portals add a (excuse the pun) new dimension to the gameplay.

The main reason i didn't want this game originally was the odd combinations in the story, space adventures crossed with Cherokee mythology... (over the top weapons also didn't hold great appeal), But oddly, it all really seems to work together pefectly, certainly got me intriuged enough to want to find out what happens to characters.

From a graphical standpoint, I've found it to be decent, but not as good as it could be, while the textures are excellent and everything is highly detailed, it seems a little jagedy around some of the edges. This is with me not having a HDTV tho, and I'm ensured its a lot more impressive on HD. One things for sure tho, its a nice looking game in motion.

Lastly from an online perspective, I really can't see this as a long term Live title, if at all. It didn't seem a lot of fun, and the weapons just didn't seem to suit the online arena... I remain willing to be proved wrong, also there were some lag similar in vein to that of COD2 pre-patch.

Basically i reckon this will be a top quality single player game, I just fear it won't have that long term appeal to go further than the single player mode...

Anyone agree/disagree? Come on peeps sock it to me...

I didn't like it, but that's cuz it's not my type of game. Don't get me wrong, I like a good shooter, but this tries to be a fps, and an action game.

fantastic demo, dont like FPS normally but found this fun especially the beginning eg watching the tv and playing the slot machines... liked the portal ideas as well. Thought the multiplayer was rubbish however but that maybe because i have been playing too much graw recently!

Actually I preordered the game after completing the demo :) It's not super, but good enough :)

Very few games are "super" but what do you mean by good enough? better than quake 4 or perfect dark? they are fps 360 games but i think they are complete rubbish (just my opinion) whereas i really felt that prey was fun and different! how does it rate compared to other fps games for you?

Almost every game is better than Perfect Dark Zero or Quake 4.

With Rival on that one. Prey seemed like a fun game. It doesn't match GRAW for graphics and gameplay nor Call of Duty 2 for intensity, but it definitely has its charms in SP. PDZ and Q4 most certainly didn't :)

i am so glad to see you agree on that! pdz was my second game on 360, had played pd on the N64 and was expecting to be blown away by pdz, but i spent the whole of the first level thinking " i must be playing this wrong" and "i must have the wrong option settings". My "favourite" moment was level 3 or 4 when Joanna`s father died... did i cry, no i laughed actually, because the story was so bad and uninvolving, i could not believe that Rare could not not write a better story after 4 years of development! Not quite the same feeling i had when i played zelda or final fantasy and someone died!
Anyway, back to prey, my point is that a good fps has a good story and prey had more story and character in its first scene than pdz and quake put together.

Plan to be getting this game on 14th solely because of that demo

I liked the single player but I still need to be sold on the on-line, it was a little rough but hard to tell from 2 small maps.

I'm not shure yet. The demo surpised me in 2 ways. 1. It looks allot like doom3 (because of the engine) and I didn't like the 'shiny' surfices that much. 2. There was deff. a Duke Vibe. It started with the 3D realms logo and the bar with the slotmachines. All that was missing was a half naked dancing girl :)
I Really enjoyed that part and got really excited when 'the reaper' kicked in on the jukebox \o/
I think I'll wait for the hands-on preview of xboxic and then make my decission..
