View Full Version : Which 5 Xbox games are you most looking forward to?

Ok guys,
Which games are we most looking forward to and why? I don't want lazy list, I want reasons! Mine are as follows:
1. Stranglehold
Looks to have a great story, and I've been dying for some more
Max Payne but that doesn't look like its happening anytime soon, so this will hopefully be a good stopgap, plus the current 360 emulator ain't up to running the old Payne title...
2. Alan Wake
Again looking have a great story which is something I always look for in single player games, the (few) clues we've got about gameplay sound exciting, as does the hints at a certain amount of free-roaming and time management.
3. F.E.A.R.
Heard great things about the already available PC version, so I'm so not a PC gamer its untrue. Again: Story, the bits I've heard about sound intriguing. I want to find out what happens in this game. Looks stunning, and promise of destructable environments (to a certain degree).
4. Resident Evil 5
I'm a great fan of games that can sucessfuly scare you witless, and the Resi series have always done that for me. Seeing as RE4 one the gamecube was the most stunning looking and most playable game last gen, I can't wait to see what they can do on the 360...
5. GTA4
Well its GTA. My main point for this is it plays like a dream, but also the humour. Its satire, people who play it because they think its close to gangland stories or simply to be violent are totally missing the point. The game is social commentary, and rockstar does things to annoy those who oppose it. Classic series. Also the stories are always well written, funny, plus successfully tie the missions together. *Prays for Live multiplayer!*

Here's my list of 5 :
1. Dead Rising
Been waiting for this as of the first previews a year ago. I've always liked the Dawn of the Dead etc. zombie movies and this game brings all that fun to my livingroom with me at the controlls. And it looks awesome too! Mmmkay?
2. Gears of War
The best looking game so far and is mindblowing from what I've seen. Not only visual but gameplay and AI aswell. Really hope it lives up to it's expectations.
3. Resident Evil 5
Same reason as number 1. And above all, if it is as good as the last RE, it's gonna rock.
4. Stranglehold
This game surprised me at E3. Looks amazing and reminds me allot of Max Payne which was and still is a great game. Hope this one is going to be as great as they tell us it'll be.
5. Assassins Creed
It's not officially anounced for the 360, but I have high hopes it will. A combination of Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell and thief is a perfect combination for a new classic.

1. Resident Evil 5
If this one is even half as good as RE4 it's going to kick massive ass. I could go on and on about why I love RE4 so much, but the combination of the graphics, storyline and atmosphere sums it up quite nicely.
2. Dead Rising
Despite the lack of multiplayer I'm realy into zombie slashing and this time you can be as creative as you like.
3. Alan Wake
From the creators of Max Payne, this must be good..
4. Gears of War
I like the arcade style and the gorgeous graphics of this title. It's time to finally see something of that Unreal 3 engine.
5. GTA 4
It's on the fifth place since I don't know if this baby will have multiplayer. I think I'm done with the simple gameplay we've seen in GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas, especially with those horrific graphics. So if it's a huge graphical update and not only a resolution bump (played it on the pc so I'm used to the high res) and it has some sweet multiplayer I'd give it a try.
Number 13

1. GTA4 - I've never disliked a GTA game. They're generally my fave games of whichever system they're on. Can't wait for this one, too!
2. Metronome - Not heard anything about it for a while, but it sounded like it had the potential to be one of the most original games in a long long time.
3. Gears Of War - Looks like the first truly killer-app game for the 360 - the one to show off your system and HD tv with, definitely.
4. Pro Evolution Soccer 6/7/8/etc - always great. The best football games ever.
5. Dead Rising - looks like a LOT of fun. Just hope it doesn't turn into another State Of Emergency, which was one of those "looks and sounds ace, but becomes boring in seconds" type of games.
Special mentions to:
6. Lost Planet - The game that Starship Troopers always needed.
7. Anything decent at all which isn't a generic and bland FPS game - seriously, I am so so SICK of the FPS flooding of the computer and console games market. It seems sometimes that 75% of games coming out are either really shoddily done EA Sports titles (Fight Night excepted) or yet another bloody FPS game, which looks and plays absolutely no differently from every other bloody FPS game out there.
Ok, I'm going to go take my pills now. :)

Well this is my list. And it's true
1. Gears of War Because it had all those awards on E3
2. Gears of War Because it's Killzone 2 CGI but then ingame
3. Gears of War OMG I love the chainsaw gun
4. Gears of War Crashing into walls, pushing cars, other objects
5. Gears of War I have no sleep untill Emergence Day
ps. Well maybe Viva Piniata comes in somewhere :) Oh yeah and Assassins Creed just to piss off Fony Freaking Fanboys

Halo 3:
My favourite ever game (Halo 2) gets a sequel, that's a must-have for me.
Just Cause
Looks like hours of fun, and it plays better than Dead Rising.
Resident Evil 5
I have owned and completed every other Resident Evil, so I must continue.
Half-Life 2 and PORTAL
Now you're thinking with portals.
Gears Of War
No need for a reason.

Gears of War:
What can I say? The most intecipated Xbox 360 Game for me, and the most shooter fans.
Nice story, the Gameplay looks to be pretty cool (Chainsaw anyone? :D) - Gears of War Multiplayer should be great fun! _o_ -, and the Game looks awesome with the Unreal 3 Engine.
Dead Rising:
Frank West + a Toy Lightsaber + allot of Zombies = A Hell of a great time! >:)
Killing mindless Zombies using anything you could think of being a weapon? Super!
Oh, and don't forget to take pictures while you're at it ;)
Test Drive: Unlimited:
Exotic cars, an exotic Island, and allot of freedom.
Test Drive: Unlimited's inovative Gameplay (MMORG: Massive Multiplayer Online Race Game) should provide all the Racing fun I, and you, need :)
Let's just hope the Final will be much better then the Demo.
I think it will be.
Halo³:
Master Chief returns for another battle, this time in Next-Gen.
I loved, and I still love, the previous Halo games, so I think Halo³ will kick some Covenant ass! :9~
Saint's Row:
I'm a big fan of Grand Theft Auto, so I'm really looking forward if Saint's Row can get near Grand Theft Auto.
It looks pretty good, and I like the fact that you can create your own character.

1. Gears of War
Pick a reason from above... Reading the hands-on impressions for multiplayer sure helped though.
2. Mass Effect
Still Very Far away from release but Bioware does magical things, they don't disappoint.
3. Brothers in Arms 3
The trailer looked absolutely awesome to me. When the guy in the windows points at the guy behind the curtain that is awesome. Little moments in games like that make all the difference in the world, like when the first dog jumps through a window in RE1.
4. Call of Duty 3
My favorite game on 360 is still Call of Duty 2. More graphic effects (better smoke, wind, etc), game modes, and players online (24)... Sign me up
5. NHL 07
I likes my hockey, and it sounds like they didn't wreck anything (yet), and improved a few things.
6. [Original] XBLA titles left and right... (small arms, heavy weapon, cloning clyde, mad tracks, hoopworld, lumines live)
SpikeyTheFatGit
July 11th, 2006, 21:41
In no particular order....
Saints Row - no doubt a GTA clone, but I love GTA :)
Dead Rising - the more I hear, the more I want it
Gears of War - looks like it'll be a good 'un
Call of Duty 3 - no.2 had the most rewarding achievements I've got
Forza 2 - loved the last one
Also lookin forward to Test Drive, Crackdown, Lego Star Wars and Texas Holdem on XBLA

Well, life is all about choosing isn't it? And when a 10 list is done, there will be 20 games that are good, 30 or 50 in some time.
I guess this makes you think really hard which 5 ones you want for all those others. Good proces shifting in your head to burn your money first on ;)
And also important: 10 games means 600 dollars/euro's spend. Not everybody burns that amount of money in one year on games I guess when 4.5 games is about the attach rate average.
But well. I just need one game I guess. Gears of War only 3 months to wait still...

I've just realised I've got five games preordered for next month :o
01/09 Saint's Row
08/09 Dead Rising Ltd Edition
08/09 Test Drive Unlimited
11/09 Lego Star Wars II
22/09 LMA Manager 2007
Saint's Row I'm still not sure about, I probably wouldn't buy it myself but it's my birthday on 07/09 and I'm sure someone will buy it for me. Shame my birthday's not on 08/09, I could save myself £100 :D
I was totally sold on Lego Star Wars II until I played the PC demo, I know it's sort of aimed at kids but it's really fiddly and the help system is poo, maybe it was just a demo level. It's priced cheaply though (£29.99) so that might be enough to convince me.
I have high hopes for LMA Manager 2007 (http://www.xboxic.com/news/1348), certainly after the 360 version of Football Manager was so buggy and badly supported. And that's it for September, unless Lumines hits Live...
Scarbir
August 21st, 2006, 19:08
Lego Star Wars II will actually be released cheap? My god... the best game on the 360 only costs half the money! :D
Really, I just finished it. It's fan-tas-tic. Humorous, delivered me say fifteen hours of great gameplay and the setting is - of course - brilliant. But thát was the debug version and now I want it to go with my gamerscore, so I'll buy it too.
As for LMA 2007: the game is pretty good. The 3D engine works very well but I think the focus is too much on the financial and training side of things instead of the formation and player skills. I'd rather busy that.
Studley
August 21st, 2006, 19:13
Doesn't LMA have some sort of "chairman mode" or something which lets you skip finances/training etc? Or am I thinking of one of the other football games (FIFA Manager maybe? I know Football Manager has a similar feature).
I know I can't be bothered with Football Manager 07, it's such a lazy conversion of the PC version, the amount of blank space on-screen is ridiculous.
Scarbir
August 21st, 2006, 19:54
It does give you the option to skip financial and training-stuff, but then again, the presentation of the main things like formation and player roles, isn't just as good and fun as I want it to be. I'm having far more fun doing that in Online Soccer Manager to be honest.
Still, it's a very decent game. Beneath my review is a 7,5 - but keep it quiet ;)

Sometimes shops only order 2 or 3 over the amount of pre orders they've got since they don't think it'll sell anyway. Big places like Best Buy, Circuit City, and Walmart have a lot of copies, but a lot of us don't buy our games there.
So yes, pre orders are the only way to go sometimes.

Game Crazy, GamerPro, GameHaven and a few shops that are privately owned around here are just a few.

Preordering online is always the way to go in the UK, the games are always £50 in the shops but you can generally get them from online retailers for £35-£40.
That's still a LOT of money for me to spend in September, I might just wait to see if the birthday fairy brings me Saint's Row, because it certainly won't get much time out of the box once Dead Rising and TDU arrive...

I already know for sure that I'm gonna order Ninety-Nine Nights and Dead Rising this month, so those 2 aren't included in my looking forward list anymore.
1. Gears of War - What?
2. Forza 2 - The best game gets part 2
3. Strangehold - After the new trailer, and the hands-on from Nino and Rival, I want this Max Payne 3 title.
4. Stuntman 2 - Finally coming to 360 :P
5. Viva Pinata - I'm 22 so what?
6. Rainbow Six Vegas - Kick some ass in Vegas style!
