It would be THE best Live game ever.

I had so much love for that game.

Yeah that was a unique and fun game, too bad the sequel (Interstate 82) sucked a little :(

Add me to the TIE Fighter fan list!

I tried to get it (and X-Wing) to work on XP but it's absolutely impossible ;(

Call me strange, but I'd rather see an online playable version of Star Wars Episode One Racer on the Arcade, along with the two-sticks steering system.

Pod Racer ? If so I loved that game on the N64.

Yep, also known as Pod Racer. I'd rather see a conversion of the SEGA Arcade or the Dreamcast-version by the way :)

I didnt know there was a dreamcast version, I thought it came out originally for n64 and than a re release on ps2. But anyways, that game was great.

Oh yeah, I loved Tie fighter! the best of all of those games imho - it was awesome being the bad guys! imagine an online vs mode *slobber*

Wing commander was so repetitive - I played them all but only for the storyline. Atleast the one with mark hamil was a good comedy game..... ....it was meant to be a comedy wasnt it? :D

Well, if you play for the story you didn't buy all those CDs for nothing ;)

hehe I think what I meant to say was, that without some kind of coherent storyline I would have given up after several of the utterly dull repetitive levels. I dont think I ever actually bothered completing any of them, so the story wasnt that good. As I say the Mark Hamil one was hilariously bad.

Tie Fighter was better in every way, it was more like a simulation, AI was better, graphics where better - it worked.

I never bothered with any of the sequels because I expected them to become very repetitive :+

First one was fun though in 1993 or what was it.

If we ever get some sort of 3D space game on the arcade then I'm hoping for Elite.
Small game codewise, big gameworld, long term challenge. Tart the graphics up a bit (just fill in the wireframes like on the Oolite, the freeware version) but leave the gameworld as ruthless and unforgiving as the original. You'd have to work hard and put some real time in to get that Elite achievement.

Well I'd buy it. :P

Yes, I agree with this thread. Being like 8 years old in 1993, I never got to play this game but legends of its greatness live on....

I played Elite for months, perhaps years, in the eighties, back when I was young, and I never managed to get past Deadly rating, despite continuously raiding anarchies for Thargoids all the time :X
